The player is, overall, good quality for the money. I purchased it mainly because the optical drive on my MacBook Pro went out and was out of warranty. The player is very light and easily transported. It is quite loud when playing a disc at first, but then it quiets down. I have not had any issues in burning either CDs or DVDs, either. Would like to see it come with a longer cable (the one included is only 6 in. long). All in all, a solid purchase. I have also tried it with my old HP laptop (still runs Windows Vista, too give you an idea how old it is) and had zero problems.

We bought this for use with our Mac notebooks for the relatedly rare times when we need a disc drive. Since it was rare, I didn't feel it necessary to spend the money on the Apple Super Drive when this is essentially the same thing in a black package and without the Apple logo.

Very happy with purchase. When my old computer died, I went looking but did not expect to buy. This one was a steal. It is so much faster. Good resolution for what I use it for, but do not think it would be very good for gaming. Also, I miss the DVD. Overall, I am pleased with it.

If your laptop doesn't have a DVD player already in it (like mine didn't) then this is the best way to go. Buy this plug and play and your off and running. You can also run it straight to your Flat screen TV Monitor just follow the enclosed diagram.

Comes with software that lets you easily burn and view discs, and works well so far with Windows 10. You can actually burn and view discs without downloading the software but it just makes it easier. Great product for those that have laptops without a disc drive.

I needed an external drive to use Turbo Tax software on my new laptop to do my taxes. I verified on-line that Best Buy carried the item and noted the price. Went to the store right away and purchased. I was able to complete my taxes and file on the due date.

Some of our customer's arrive with the new Windows 10 Laptops and Netbooks and cannot install their software. This drive has connected to all of them and loaded their software, played their movies and created CD, DVD and Dual-Layer DVD backups. Recommended.

It's small, lightweight, and so easy to use. I bought this to upload CDs onto my MacBook Pro, and it hasn't glitched yet! A great deal when I even got it on sale.

No frills and compact design. I purchased a few of these for the office as we have iMacs with no DVD drive in them. Even though you hardly ever need discs anymore, it's nice to have one in case something comes up. This drive is small and works fine for that.

I don't have anything bad to say about it. Of course, having a built in disc drive is more convenient... but with the new slim laptops one of these is necessary. It's small and lightweight (which is expected) so it's not a pain to keep in my laptop bag.

I went in to best buy to get a new CD drive for my older laptop. Took it home, plugged it into my laptop's USB port, and just like that I have a CD burner again!!!! Now I can burn off ALL of my data on my computer and not worry about the CDs being turned into coasters.

Personally, I wish that computer manufacturers would not have eliminated the internal disc drives from computers. It's such a hassle to not have one built in. But ~ this is an excellent ~ lightweight ~ external disc drive that serves the necessary purpose.

Seems the new laptops no longer come with a DVD players, which is a shame in my opinion. I am glad I could purchase an external one, but is rather inconvenient to have another item to keep track of. It works very well and am very happy with it however.

I needed an external DVD drive last minute, and Best Buy had a few options. Since they all have similar specifications and speeds, this is the one I went with based on price. It works exactly as expected and as such is probably the best bang for your buck.

Purchased an iMac, but didn't realize I wouldn't be able to view any DVDs I had with pictures on them. Now with the help of my DVD/CD drive, I have the ability to view them on my computer again.

This is exactly what I hoped it would be. It has allowed me install games and software onto my MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro no problem. When it can be bought on sale it is an excellent deal that I would otherwise forgo in lieu of something less expensive on Amazon.

I recently Built a new computer system I have no need for a DVD/cd or blue ray player. The motherboard and other info is still being put on cds. So I bought this DVD player to load the drivers and other software. Works great had no issues

Since I bought a new laptop without a DVD player so it could be extra light, this is a great and easy to use when you need it external DVD player. I don't need DVDs to be read often, but this is also very compact if I needed to travel with it as well.

Good external disk drive for computers without an internal one. I bought this along with my new MacBooke Pro and all I have to say that's negative is that when you play DVDs on an MacBook Pro, you will not be able to mirror it to an your TV using Apple TV.

The school I work at provides laptops for all teachers, and of course many new light laptops lack a CD drive lately. This was a very easy peripheral to use for my technology-challenged colleagues to be able to use DVDs in the classroom.
