My laptop didn't have a dvd drive so I bought this to play movies and burn discs its a good product but something you have to bring along with a computer thats the only downfall to having a external drive. Still nice to have when I need it.

Lightweight and ultra portable dvd-r/rw external drive. I bought this to use with my new laptop that had absolutely no disc drive. The reader/writer is not cumbersome or heavy so it adds very little weight to my laptop bag.

After losing everything on my computer twice due to crashes and other external harddrives losing what I backed up to them, this external harddrive really gives me some peace of mind. It's portable and stylish. Very easy to use.

I needed a simple method to use cd software on my new laptop that didn't have a reader. This has worked well. It has an easy plug and play setup with a clean design and stores out of the way. Haven't used the writer, but that is not the reason I bought this, so can't attest to the speed. But overall, this does the job; if you need a simple media reader that is windows 10 compatible, this is a good pick.

Thought I'd have to "install" and run a program in order to use; not at all! Just plug in via USB and insert CD/DVD and run your programs or make a DVD or CD. Very simple. Disconnect and put in drawer and you are good to go!!

It was reasonably priced! The disk holder could be a little stronger, but not a big deal. I also find the machine to be noisy, although it is minor for someone mainly using the machine to download and burning.

I got this drive for a new laptop. The drive is fast, quiet, and reads/writes dvd backups well. I haven't used it for video playback, but it seems solid. It's still functioning 2 years later.

Bought my grandson an HP Pavilion x360 for graduation, and this was recommended as the laptop has no DVD drive. I thought it would be nice if he could watch movies. Maybe I bought the wrong thing, because we couldn't get it to play a movie. I called LG and they were fantastic! They apparently heard this story before. The rep suggested I download a free app from videolan dot org.. He walked me through the process. We chose our device and installed the app. Now my grandson has an orange traffic cone on his desktop. He clicks on that, then on the media tab, and presto--- he's watching a movie. I will admit the external drive is noisy upon installation and when started, but we didn't notice it while the movie played.

Bought it to reload a software CD to my Macbook Pro. It worked fine. It was worth the price, just for that. Haven't tried to watch any DVDs or listen to CD's, but pretty sure it will be fine. Can't beat it, for the price.

Adding the external cd/dvd writer, reader, player solved my problem with using my laptop that had no built in device. I found this device to work great with what I need it to do. Would highly recommend this brand to others.

This is a practical portable CD drive for the fewer and fewer instances you need to read or burn a CD in this era of the cloud, digital music and USB drives. There are faster models available but this suits basic needs.

Since purchasing my Yoga3 the external CDRW has been a great addition for my work solutions. The price paid at Best Buy was actually one of the lowest I was able to find at the time.

My wife's laptop didn't come with a DVD player so went online and found this for a great price. It does the job in playing and burning discs...no problems so far. Highly recommend.

It works, it's lightweight and doesn't take up much room on the desk. I didn't have to load drivers, the Mac recognized it without a problem. It is a little slow.

I needed a disc reader for a laptop that did not have one installed. This one worked great and was very easy to use for the first time. I wouldn't want to use it for heavy use but for my purposes it is ideal.

I just plugged this into my iMAC ... worked perfect. I have an older iMac. My CD/DVD drive is failing. This works great. And the new mac's don't have a DVD drive, so I can use this with the knew one I get too.

The LG - Ultra Slim 8x Max. DVD Write Speed External USB DVD RW/CD-RW Drive was purchased so I could use some data and program CDs and DVDs with my new diskless laptop. Does the job, without any special bells and whistles.

I wouldn't need this if the surface 3 had a disc drive, but then I guess it wouldn't be as thin or as tablet like. This DVD player works well and is thin enough to pack and take along if u need to. It seems sturdy... no problems with it.

This drive is perfect for our needs, works well, easy to use and very compact, fits in the laptop bag easily. Great price!

I purchased this after realizing that laptops no longer come equipped with a cd-rom drive but I had some music recording equipment that required software installation via cd-rom. This device was inexpensive and easy to use.
