I needed a cd drive for my macbook for school and this was perfect for what I needed! The price was way better than the apply version and it worked great. All I had to do was plug it in with my dongle and everything was a go. I haven't had any problems and have even let other people in my class use it for themselves even though they have PCs. I recommend and am glad i listened to the bestbuy worker who told me to give this one a try.

Very portable and dependable but loud. I don't mind the noise and appreciate the price.

I was initially concerned that this player may not be compatible with my MacBook Air. I was pleasantly surprised that it played immediately, and has worked fine since my purchase. I think the Apple brand would have been more expensive, and this has met my needs perfectly. The sleek black exterior looks great on my desk, yet is compact enough for me to take with me when needed. All in all, a great purchase that I am most pleased with.

Bought myself a thinkpad and as many know, disk drives are becoming more and more obsolete. However, I still have a use for it on occasion, so because of this I needed one. This is a plastic structure, a tad bit noisy but otherwise works well. If you compare it to the other models, you are either paying extra for a metal casing or the Apple brand. So ultimately, this would be the best bang for the buck. No regrets here.

As stated in my previous review of an Apple superdrive which cost over three times what the LG cost, I was quite disappointed by Apple's worthless (for my imac) product, and LG's $24.95 product totally lifted my spirits. I was able to hook it up and use it with a minimum of difficulty, and it did exactly what Apple's $80.00 product could not: it delivered! Thank you, LG. I will shop your products again, whenever I can.

I just needed a CD/DVD drive to accompany my Mac Mini which, as most computers, no longer has one. I wanted to be able to work on photos that were originally archived on CDs and this works well. It has a small footprint, costs much less than Apple's equivalent and for a bonus I can listen to old CDs as I work. I haven't used it for DVDs yet. Only small con - it would be nice if it came in white.

The price was very good. So far I haven't run into any significant issues after making numerous DVD copies of home movies, plus sometimes using the drive for watching movies. I've had to use a straightened paper clip to open the drive door a few times (when there was no disc in the drive), but doesn't seem to affect anything else. I'm running the latest OS X 10.12 operating system on a Mac laptop.

Built-in optical drives, once standard, are becoming rare as notebook manufacturers opt for small and light machines and as users rely more on downloads and on-line services. With such machines a software library on optical media is useless without an external drive like this one. LG products have served me well and this one is no exception. Slim and light, easy to carry if needed and at a good price, this product deserves serious consideration.

I used with my Apple and just plug in and go. Fast! Very compact and simple and does the job.

An excellent external dvd usb drive. Very inexpensive. One caveat- it comes with driver software, but you have to download a dvd read/write program of your choice to really make it work. The sales guy at Best Buy clued me in to this, so it was no big deal. Great value for the cost and a nice way to load older needed programs on new laptops or tablets that have done away with DVD players to save weight/space.

Simply put, this is a bus-powered optical drive. As a result, it is super-convenient and super-lightweight with only one cable involved in the entire process (standard USB-A to USB-Mini-B). Definitely portable, though, I wouldn't exactly call it rugged. This is an excellent USB optical drive for your bench but not too well suited for your backpack.

Many laptops no longer come with a DVD player. This device was listed as plug and play, and I found that to be true for a nice change. We purchased it so my wife could upload music to her library from her DVD collection. It works perfectly for playback and upload of files. Its slim compact design makes storage while not in use very easy within the laptop case. I recommend this product for expansion of your laptops capabilities.

Was looking for something, small, thin and fast to take with me in my laptop bag. This is the one.

Got this for my daughter who had just purchased a pretty pricey laptop to take overseas but didn't realize till it arrived that there was no dvd drive which she needed to install a moviemaking program. Saw this online and she picked it up a few days before leaving. Small and easy to transport and just plug it in. Perfect solution! Will prob get one for myself since I no longer have a dvd player for my TV.

This item is super lightweight. Must be installed but is very quick on win10. The only Cons, Must be used with a program that already comes with the item, after 30 days trial, you must to buy or you will be using a standart version of the program . but this program you can use it with ur phone as control remote which is very cool and also works for your pc as remote desktop control!! Or you can install any other DVD player.
