Pros- Slim and Sleek design Price point (used a 5.00 Best Buy Reward and a 10% B-Day discount) Cons- It did not play an older DVD that I had in my collection, I read in the instructions that all media types are not supported. Overall I purchased it for less that 25.00 and it did allow me to load my testing software for an IT exam, I am pleased for the most part.

I purchased this because my lap top does not have a CD drive. All I had to do was plug in the USB connector to my lap top, put in the installation CD, and that was it! You can download CDs to your computer, play disc based games, or watch movies. This is the DVD edition, but there is also a Blu-Ray version as well, it's just a bit more expensive. None the less, this is a great product that takes up very minimal room.

i purchased this because my computer does not have a cd drive and i wanted to watch dvds. for this purpose it os working great. i have not used the writer/editor functions yet but as far as i can tell there are 3 (photo, video, music). required internet connections to download upon installation. the unit is ultra light weight, slim and ready for use with usb connection.

For the price, it does what it needs to. Very slim and easy to pack for travel.

I needed an external drive for my iMac since Apple stopped making them with optical drives. The drive is basically plug and play for the Mac, and I also had no problems plugging it into a PC. The device is extremely lightweight, but also a little fragile. I would definitely suggest keeping it somewhere where it's less likely to be crushed. I haven't tried in on my television get, but I will soon. It doesn't really take up much space, but you will need a little room for it. As far as speed, it's what you would expect from an optical drive. Don't expect it to be lightning fast. I will say for as thin as it is, it's surprisingly on par with some other drives. The only con I would say is the actual button to open the drive. There were times were it was a little difficult to operate. Also, this isn't like desktop optical drive. So it only opens up a little. However, overall it's a great external optical drive.

Good product with no issues so far. It works great for my intended purpose. I was going to buy another laptop with a cd drive. Then I realized this was all I really needed. It saved me a lot of money. This was the first one I've used, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I've found it useful and reliable so far.

I bought a new Acer laptop with all of the specs I wanted except a CD/DVD drive, so this was the next best thing to get and I have been very happy with it. I used it to load all my software and data that was on my old laptop and it worked great. I told my sister about it for her Mac and she bought one too. It's slim and when I travel it can fit nicely in my backpack. Perfect1

Best Buy and their staff are the best! I bought it at Best Buy with their price match during the holidays. I bought it to install older programs on a new Dell Windows 10 laptop that was purchased from Best Buy. The USB 3.0 external disc drive has: very good quality, it is fast, its light weight/portable and no batteries are required. It works with Apple laptops. Thank you LG and Best Buy!

I recently purchased an Intel NUC computer and , for obvious reasons, there is no built in dvd reader writer unit. As portable units go, this device fills the bill. It's not super fast, but in todays world we don't need a dvd drive that often. This unit is compact and easy to install and it works on those rare occasions when you need one.

This little portable optical drive is incredibly lightweight. Worked for me right out of the box with super simple install. Comes with some promotional software that you don't have to install unless you're interested in it. It is pretty quiet compared to others I have used. Very good value for the price.

The DVD drive on my Toshiba laptop has been flaky for a while now and it's gotten so bad I decided I needed to find an alternative to enable me to reliably burn DVDs. I did some research and this drive was a very cost effective option with capabilities on par with other drives costing twice as much. So far it's worked flawlessly and it's super portable.

The LG external drive is easy to use. After loading the software, I was able to plug in the unit and begin using it with no problem. The unit is compact and very light in weight. A heavier unit would make it easier to use. I have to use both hands to keep it in place when inserting or removing discs. Otherwise, it performs as expected and does a great job.

My new gaming PC was built in a case that has no drive bays for an internal DVD reader/writer. So I started shopping around for an external. I was hoping for a USB 3.0 based but almost all on the market are the old USB 2.0 like this one. It is very lite and compact, and is powered from the USB cord. For the occasional need to access a DVD or burn a DVD this is a perfect and fairly cheap solution. It's plug and play in Windows 10. No software included and Windows 10 does not have any built in..So I downloaded IMGBurn it's completely free and worked perfect. Read several DVD-R's and wrote a few to test it. You need to handle the tray with care when you are loading and unloading media as it is pretty flimsy. If you are a heavy user of DVD based media I would suggest looking for a tougher built drive, but if you are like me and only use this type of media very little it will work just fine to get the job done.

This DVD unit works great with the computer. It is really slim and looks beautiful. It also has a function where it is supposed to work with a TV (no computer needed), but when I tried it, it didn't work on mine (LG TV). I haven't tried to troubleshoot yet so I can't confirm it doesn't work, but at least it didn't right out of the box.

Simple to use. Lightweight, compact and quiet. Works as expected.
