The problem is the copious amount of "play" [wiggle] between the mount and anchor piece that adheres to the devise. I actually returned this item - and I rarely return anything.

Used the slimmest rubber pad it offers seeing my bar was about an inch in diameter. As I was clamping it down with very little effort at all, it snapped at the beginning of the teeth. Possibly a defect but I didn't want to risk losing my phone with another try. I returned it and didn't get a new one. Previous versions from life proof have held up but this one didn't.
