My brother uses these and they are really cool. They can even be used as a semi-black light.

these lights are a complete pain in the butt and I can not get these lights to connect to my phone to save my life 1/10 would recommend if you want decent lights. 10/10 would recommend if you want to waist your time and money and get incredibly mad and annoyed off at an object that most likely costs about 40 dollars in parts and 2.50 in labor to make.

These tiles are gorgeous and are stunning. Nothing else out there like this. I debated on lifx tiles and nano (triangles) for awhile, but ultimately went with these. I do not regret it. Just be prepared to buy better command strips and an hour plus (depending on design you decide on) for setup. A great modern look/add to our living room. Watch some videos on youtube for examples, but even at that they do not do justice for how nicely these lights look and fade into one another when lit. They can become super bright and can illuminate our small living room/kitchen , alone. Expensive, but really cool.

The Worst Design Ever

This thing is impossible to set up. Its instruction says to connect everything before putting it on the wall one tile at a time, but once you stick it to the wall, it's impossible to connect the cable to the next Tile as there's no gap between a Tile and the wall. So the only way to do it is to have a friend hold all Tiles while you install / position each Tile on the wall. On top of that, when it's disconnected from power during installation (you should set it up fully before putting on the wall), some Tiles may become unresponsive. Then you try to remove one Tile and it screws up every other Tile because you can't remove one in the middle of 5 without removing the Tiles next to it. And then the stickers get less sticky, one Tile may fall during removal and drags down another Tile and rips the cable connecting the two.
If you wanna play with it, that's fine. But don't attempt to put them on the wall until you've figured out a way to get everything up in one run with a friend and have fully set up the kit (connected to the app). Also don't disconnect the power during set up or you may find yourself with unresponsive Tiles when every piece is on the wall.

The best light tiles that don't actually work.

This review is disappointing for me, because I really wanted to like this product. However, despite being the most aesthetically-attractive light tiles on the market, these modular LED panels are easily the worst in their field by a wide margin. Why?
There's a random chance they won't actually work at all for you.
The overall hardware construction is top notch and the sleek, substantial squares themselves would feel right at home in a modern art gallery or C-Level corporate office. The colors come across as bold and vibrant, and the fluid patterns available to the LIFX tiles aren't easily available anywhere else on the standard consumer market at the time of this review. The cables used for installation can be difficult to work with, but they stay quite sturdy when bent in even the most extreme ways and are low profile enough to be tucked up under the tiles and hidden from sight. Making a pattern was easy enough, though it would be nice to have a connection port for linking on all four sides of the tile rather than just the two.
My impressions with the product out of the box were really good. Hardware installation was a tad frustrating but nothing too horrible and I was excited to light up my design and see the finished results.
However, It was at this point in my experience with the LIFX tiles that a relatively simple installation turned into a complete headache.
A little background, I am not a stranger to smart home products or tech in general. In particular relevance to this review, I love smart lights. I have installed Philips Hue fixtures, Nanoleaf Canvas tiles (get those instead of these if you want square LED tiles), totally custom LED loops, and Raspberry Pi-powered LED strips that sync with a TV's current image Ambilight-style. I even do automotive LED setups from time to time.
This is, without a doubt, the WORST software-side installation experience I have ever had. NOTHING I could do would get these 5 lights to connect to the official LIFX app. I reset all points of connection. I rebuilt and reconnected my pattern at least 10 times, each with a hard reset included. I tried multiple networks. I checked and triple checked that all my relevant specs were within LIFX's parameters - they were. I read forum after forum online detailing people's problems and (sometimes) fixes. All-in-all, I put a good 6-8 hours into trying to get something working that should have taken minutes. In comparison, the Nanoleaf Canvas tiles I installed in my living room went from box to fully configured in less than half an hour, including the time taken to admire them and plan out their design.
At the end of the day, for me, there was no fix. These tiles are going back. In my extensive forum-searching, the two most-repeated situations that led to returns were people who just claimed they received a faulty set (with few updates to confirm it was the set and not the software) and the interesting observation that it appears to be luck of the draw when it comes to which router models actually work with this product (regardless if they meet the requirements or not). Customer service or tech support is also pretty much non-existent, and many users claimed it took 2-4 weeks just to get a basic reply from LIFX.
Bottom Line:
Avoid. These are simply not worth the risk. The intensity of the LEDs and the cheaper cost might be tempting, but if you don't want to deal with a nightmarish installation you should really be buying the Nanoleaf Canvas squares instead.

Great Concept Poor Execution

These tiles look really awesome. However they are a nightmare to setup. Each tile must be wired up to each other. At the same time each tile has 3m adhesive on the back. It's your job to figure out how to keep all tiles wired up while ensuring that your tiles are leveled or put in place how you want them to be before you adhere them to the wall. It's a nightmare to setup. The quick setup instructions aren't very good either.
Like another review mentions, during setup, a tile fell off the wall with the wire attached and now the connector is ruined. I can't recommend these even if they were $100 off.

Which engineer thought it would be a good idea to have to run cables between the tiles? Why not just have the clips like the nanoleafs do?? I originally bought the Tiles thinking it would be a great addition to my LIFX family since I already have multiple bulbs and the lighstrip. I also like the fact that one tile can display multiple colors at once unlike the Nanoleafs. After unboxing it I saw that you have to maneuver the cables around the back of the tiles edges to connect them. The problem is that the cable is thick and not flexible at all! The cable constantly pops out of the slots that are designed to hold the cable in place and then presses against the wall, pushing the tile outwards. After spending what seemed like forever trying to mount it, the first tile fell off from the wall and dragged the other tiles with it. Then one of the cables end got stuck in the port of the tile so now the cable is useless and I have a tile with a messed up port. I will be returning this right away and will never even attempt to buy this again. Going with Nanoleafs instead. Good job Lifx.

These look nice when they work but I have had a lot of frustration since buying these several days ago. First off, they say you do not need a hub, which is true except for the fact that your phone needs to be used as the hub! I put these in my office lobby, drilled holes to run wires behind the walls got them all set up and looking good. I put the setting on random (my favorite feature) and it works great until I leave the office and take my phone with me! They freeze the moment my phone leaves the network. So... I got an old iPhone I was not using and put it permanently in the office to use as the hub. Now they will operate when I am out of the office. BUT... they still freeze at least once a day for no reason and must be restarted. Sometimes I need to go into the LIFX app and restart the sequence, but other times I have to unplug the tiles just to get them working again!
Also, one of the 5 tiles repeats the same pattern over and over. It is quite obvious because it is not random pattern but rather a vertical line, that looks different than the patterns on the other 4 tiles.
These are so much of a hassle I am planning to return these to Best Buy next week. Now I will have holes in my office wall to deal with!

Not worth the money at all :/ the wires don’t stay tucked away and I can’t even put them on the wall. Then the plug in cords that are supposed to go inside broke? Also the command strips did not hold it up at all. A few seconds after I managed to get two up they fell on me :) I’m really really surprised to see that some people are successful with this but I hope it was worth 3+ hours and a migraine. There’s no possible way trying to set it up is worth the product. On the other hand the Nanoleaf lights we also got here are A LOT better and way easier to put up. Wish I could get my money back but probably won’t cause the low quality cords broke somehow probably from it falling on me!
