About a month after buying it, I started experiencing numerous drops in internet throughout the day (I work from home, I notice these things). I also have a newer Philips Hue hub connected, which would constantly lose connection, leaving me stranded with lights on/off. I checked for updates, but nothing is available. I found myself rebooting the router every other day just to keep the internet up and running and my devices connected. I gave up and ended up buying a netgear router to replace it and haven't looked back.

If the internet connection from your modem is working fine, then your EA8500 router need not be rebooted. To achieve a stable connection, it is recommended to keep your router's firmware up-to-date.
