    Excellent Router, never reset this

After having a lot of cable technicians calling to fix my cable speed, and the having to re-boot my old router once a day, I decided to upgrade to this router. It is just a shame I didn't do it earlier! The router is excellent build quality, we have fantastic reception on all 4 floors of our home. Best of all the router has NEVER needed re-starting, and does not start to slow down over time. This has been up and running for 1 month solidly and we are still speed testing at 230Mbps. When connected to the office over VPN I have never had a drop out, where as my old router would drop once or twice a day. It is true, you get what you pay for. This is an expensive router but worth every penny.

The Good: Coverage!!! The Bad: Price

The Good: This router really does the job for coverage within my large home. I used to have deadspots in the upstairs bedroom and in a downstairs finished basement. I have the router positioned in a hall closet and all deadspots are eliminated. The Bad: This router is expensive! If I was interested in saving some $$, I'd watch for a refurbished one somewhere or look at other Tri-Band Routers. Speed wise, this router does not appear to have the fastest (or the slowest speeds). It appears to be right in the middle based on magazine/web site reviews. I would concur with those results. It is faster than my previous Dual Band Router (a D-Link), and has more features in the User Interface than the basic feature set in the D-Link interface. If you are looking are maximum coverage and the price doesn't destroy your budget, this router solved the problem for me.

I have 15 devices that are usually connected at a time with all of the computers, phones, and smart home gadgets that are out there, sometimes more, and this router handles all of it without an issue. Both wired and wireless connections are fast (we have ~400Mbps down) and we rarely have to restart it for connection issues or for being sluggish. Range on it is really good too with it looking like a UFO, but we do use a wired extender since the 5GHz network sometimes has issues reaching the corner on the 2nd floor at full speeds, but the fact that it can still get that far is amazing. Definitely the best router I've used so far.

Thought i had messed up by replacing my Netgear Nighthawk. I bought this knowing it was top of the line unit but when I hooked it up my download speed was only 356kbs of a 300meg signal. Extremely slower than my old unit. Was about to send it back but thought I would change the flimsy blue cable that came with it to one of my extras and oh boy what a difference. I now get 2.9 meg of the 3.0 meg I pay for and it kills the older Nighthawk technology. I have it loaded down and it screams on all of my devices, especially the ones hooked up with ethernet cable. Tri band is great. Pricey but if you have a lot of wifi devices and love 4k video it's a must buy.

Fantastic! Set up was less than 15 minutes. Amazing speed. I love the website of Linksys where I can access my router and change passwords, name my networks, enable or disable any or all my networks, see what devices are connected, etc. Google speed tests tells me it is providing me 640 Mbps for download and 24.8 for uploads. I can see the better speed when I watch movies. The quality of image on the screen has improved and when I fast fwd or rewind, it does it instantaneously. I hope it keeps performing like this!

This is an amazing product. Lots of antennas (make sure you align them properly; ie. not all up like in the pix). Lots of options. Really fast. But it's also the most expensive.

Need big notice how to optimally place the wifi linksys ea9500 to achieve the best result. I placed it on ground and near the wall, and this reduced significantly the coverage capability, after reading the Linksys troubleshooting guideline on the Internet, I have placed it still on the ground, but far from the wall and this already helps much now.

I purchased this router to replace a failed Linksys EA-9300. I passed on the Geek Squad protection plan on the EA-9300, and regretted it as the router died three days after my 90 day return option expired. Linksys offered free replacement for the failed router, but it would be three days before I'd get it so I had to buy a new router and opted for the EA-9500 (and the Geek Squad protection plan ;-D). Wireless signal strength on this unit is superior to the EA-9300. My house is just over 2,000 square feet and I have full coverage. This router has been solid since purchase and I've had no issues.

New router needed to replace older one that could no longer handle the number of devices we use. The router is large with lots of adjustable antennas. The setup was simple and I quickly got it up and running. The 5 GHz band delivers better performance than my older model. I was disappointed the range of the 5 GHz channel is much less than the older one. Materials that came w/ the router did not appear to explain how to counter or whether there was value in orienting all of the antennas in any particular configuration. The new features to provide guess access, etc. are nice ones. Overall, a good router but range falls short of my expectations. Works very well, even for streaming, when w/I range.

      Hi Fred,

All antennas should be straight up for a single-story home. For a multi-story home, this depends on where you need the coverage and where you want the signal to radiate. Just note that the left 4 antennas are dual-band and the other 4 are for the 5 GHz frequency band only. Pick 2 dual-band and 2 of the 5 GHz-only antennas and adjust them accordingly, and keep the rest straight up. I live in a condo with concrete walls. This router delivers a strong signal whether I'm on a my balcony, or down the hall outside of the unit. I am able to stream a hi-def movie from the other end of the building. It's awesome with very stable connections. It is driving my home automation.

I have had this router about a month now. It is mounted behind a AT&T UVERSE router. The AT&T router has the wifi disabled and we are using the wifi from the AC5400. So far coverage is good and speed is very acceptable. This is faster than the AT&T router and has the ability of having a NAS connected to either the LAN Ports or to one of two USB ports. Right now we have a 4tb hard drive attached to the USB port. The software for the router is good, but needs some improvements in some areas. With Linksys routers there is an app for iOS and android that you can use to configure the router and just to view most of the routers settings, it seems to function very well, but I still prefer to use a computer to configure with. So far so good

    Excellent router--works well with Fios

NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 R8000's 2.4GHz band stopped assigning IP addresses less than 2 years after I purchased it brand new. So, I replaced it with this Linksys EA9500 and everything works perfectly now. Range is about the same as the X6. However, speeds are much closer to Fios gigabit's advertised speeds (940Mbps down/880Mbps up) on my current Fios setup (ONT directly connected to router via CAT5 ethernet; no modem). Let's see how long this router lasts. I'm beginning to think all routers fail within 1-2 years. Thankfully, Best Buy has a good protection plan for replacements. All that said, so far so good.

I've only had it for a couple weeks so far, and I have big plans for it, but as of now it is only setup as a wireless router. I will be setting up a Media Server/NAS as soon as the components arrive. It was super easy to setup, and configure, it is connected to an Arris Surfboard SB6190 Cable Modem (Comcast), and currently there are 10 different devices connected without a single drop off as of yet. The speed tests indicate I am getting approx 90mbs/12mbs up/down on a 75mbs/10mbs up/down package. The user interface is very user friendly and does not lag like other companys interface. I see nothing but good times ahead for me with the AC5400!

This router gives excellent coverage for my house and 1 acre lot. I only have one little corner of my basement with poor coverage, but it is surrounded by the laundry and mechanical rooms, so I did not expect good coverage there. Total setup time was about 20 minutes.

I purchased this item after reading the reviews and so fa it has not disappointed. It seams my house has wifi issues. We are a family of four and we have 2 iPhones, 6 iPads, 3 laptops, Apple TV, and a smart tv. All connected to the wifi. So far this router has been able to keep up with my family's usage and able to reach my entire house. Also, note that I did call tech support regarding slow wifi speeds. Support team spent several hours running test modifying settings until we got the speeds to an acceptable level. I have Gigabyte internet and get 250 Mb on my iPhone consistently. So far this router is the best I have used.

I have purchased many routers from a basic model to this advanced model. I was impressed with this units overall capability and range. Software is solid and feature set is complete. It is a great router that I would have rated higher if it was not for its substantial price. My only disappointment was my inability to set it up for remote acces outside my local network. That is something I was easily able with do with other Linksys routers by setting up port forwarding. Could never get it working even with tech support not helping at all. I hate having to come up with a workaround.

      Hi, Radius1,

We're glad to know that you're satisfied with the router's overall capability and range. Setting up remote access should be easy through the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account URL. All you have to do is to create an account. If you haven't created an account for your router yet, here's an article to guide you: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=143662
