had to move my TV off my ethernet and my old router could not handle all 12 devices on my wify. This is a powerful solution even though pricy. you can tailor your device priority. Great router website. So far so good no more dropouts on ondemand. Setup instructions could be better but online boards have most solutions.

I already have two weeks with this router installed. I used it to improve the wireless signal on the house, because the original modem/router from the cable company had many areas uncovered. I am very happy that the range has increased, and with higher speed due to the AC standard, the old router is only Type G.

    Very Problematic, Consistently Drops Connection

I have been a fan of Linksys products for many years, however, this router has left a poor impression. First off, the router is super easy to set up, which was a plus, However, that is where the positives end. Within a few hours of the router being set up, it started losing connections with all my smart home devices (appx. 20 devices, including WeMo, Lifx, Nest, and Arlo). In addition, it was also dropping connections on tablets and phones for no apparent reason. Powering off and resetting the router would temporarily correct the issue, but they would soon return. This is totally unacceptable for a router of this class. In addition, in some instances the router would not reconnect to some devices even after a power cycle and reset. I did update the router's firmware upon initial installation, so I know I was using the latest firmware. With respect to overall speed, it was actually slower than my 5 year old router I was replacing. Not sure how this router won a 2016 CES Best award, maybe I bought a defective unit. Unfortunately, this unit will be going back to Best Buy.

      Hi, DMMO,

You should experience a stable wireless connection once the router is configured. What you are experiencing right now could be due to wireless interference which could be reduced by setting a static wireless channel. To walk you through the process, we’d like to get your over to our Escalation Engineers. Please email us at [email protected] with your phone number and the link to this post for our reference.

Have AT&T uverse - little difficult to set up (search internet for bridge instructions) took me about 40 minutes. But WOW! Fantastic signal and no drops. My home is 2200SF so more than I need, but I can cloud itunes while mowing my 2 acres with no drops. Unit was expensive but so far WELL WORTH IT!

Recently upgraded to this router and am very pleased. It is installed in a 3 story brick home, and this unit is strong enough that my former "extender" was no longer needed. It is LARGE, so you need some room. But setup was easy, and the unit has now been functioning for several months without a hitch.

Was expecting a little more range

I purchased this router to replace an aging Netgear router. With so many antennas, I expected this router to give me a little bit more 5ghz range. 5ghz range is just about on par with my old Netgear router that didn't have external antennas. I live in an 1800sq/ft house and I still sometimes drop 5ghz connectivity in my master bedroom.

      Hi, wickedbusa,

Without the proper adjustments to the wireless settings, the 5 GHz band is expected to have a shorter range compared to the 2.4 GHz band because in radio frequencies, the higher the frequency the shorter its range. For further discussion with our Escalation Engineers, please email the link to this post and your contact details at [email protected].

We'd love to hear more from you.

I replaced a Linksys Velop system with the EA9500 and noticed a significant difference in both speed and coverage. I get a strong signal 4 houses away from this router. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone for home use.

This router is 5 star. I bought it for the parental control feature and I have full control to enable or disable individual devices for Internet access as well as set Internet access schedules and time limits for the kids. I am an I.T. professional and I highly recommend this router.

I went through two other Netgear Nighthawk routers that simply didn't work for me. Especially given their large price tag. This Router worked immediately and without fail. I couldn't be happier. The app is a cool addition and this device even came with a three year warranty. Good stuff.

Well, that particular film isn't my cup of tea. But before I upgraded my 802.11n router my Netflix streaming was a joke. Now Netflix 4K streams like crazy and I can go to town and binge binge binge. Of course, for ssh and stuff, there really is no difference, but streaming video, sweet!

Recommended by my son-in-law for power (streaming 4K) for my new TV as well as security and a guest account. Store Salesman was very informative, most people buy for the moment, not thinking about the constant new technology and power needs to operate it efficiently. Good $ as well.
