Great Router, can manage 50 ussers with no problem

The performance is GREAT. Also the usser interface its very very friendly but it lacks several actions if used in a workspace or office, like: *Can't block IP ranges *Can't create rules *The Media Prioritization has few options *Doesn't have a Traffic Analizer so no way to now how much bandwith or what apps are being used

    Great coverage/Bad tech support

The product does what it advertises in terms of speed and allowing multiple devices to share the connection, rather than hog it. However, Linksys' "3 year tech support" is horrible, as they were dismissive and unable to help me although I was on the phone with them for 4 hours. Verizon fixed the issue in less than 30 mins.

I recently bought this router due to the fact that my old router was slow and not working that great. I put the router in my basement and could not believe how well it worked with all of my devices in my home!I would definitely recommend this router to any of my friends!

The biggest selling point of this purchase is the Parental Controls. The controls can be set by schedule and by connected device. Access these controls from anywhere with your mobile device. The router can also keep up with multi-streaming without a hitch.

signal strength was WAY LESS then i was expecting

My old router that i replaced with the EA9500 was the NightHawk X6 witch is an AC3200 router, that gave me perfect signal coverage all over the apartment(1450sqft) all devices had max signal strength but we had issues on getting streaming in all rooms at the same time so it thought why not go for the Linksys EA9500 AC5400. its a great router but I'm super disappointed in the range I'm getting from it, my roommates in the house are getting about half signal strength with major loss in the speed, I'm currently getting 300/300, but in there rooms I'm only getting 145/90 in one and 84/20 in the other. might be considering getting the nighthawk X8 here soon since they are the same price.

uses insecure & obsolete protocols (SMB1)

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It's pretty freaking awesome, except if you want to use an external USB device for network storage. It uses SMB1 (SUPER INSECURE, remember WannaCry? Yeah, that was because of SMB1 being enabled devices). Thankfully Microsoft Disables SMB1 by default on Windows 10 1709 to keep you safer. However, if you want to use the Network Attached Storage feature, it requires SMB1. SMB2 came out in 2006, with several more updated versions released since, yet Linksys is releasing NEW Products with insecure old obsolete tech. Very disappointed that the router, the fundamental security gateway to my devices is using SMB1. Makes me very concerned about Linksys in general. They better be releasing a firmware update soon, (which they should have done after wannacry came out and everyone else realized they needed to update)

This router is fantastic. For those looking for a non-mesh network this thing is insane! Easy setup and incredible range. I can access wifi on my phone from my driveway in my car. Great for hammocking in the backyard when you still want to access wifi.

    Fast router and excellent service

Had this router for about 9 months when 5 of the 8 Ethernet ports stopped working. I contacted linksys and they promptly sent me a new router. I pay for 300mbps down/30 up and at the furthest edges of my 2,200 sq foot house I get around 150 Mbps.

Not the everyday router but for a smart home or a home where a lot of streaming is done this is the perfect choice. It helps to have network ability and better than average computer knowledge. But in this modern tech world this is for you.

I wanted a stronger router that could handle the workload of so many devices in our house, as well as some of the issues we've had with dead spots. Set up was easy, the network is very strong, and it was very easy to set up MAC filtering and parental controls!

This has been an excellent router from day 1. Large home coverage and tri-band options give this router an edge over other home use routers. Easy to set up and speeds are consistently fast throughout all wifi bands.

So far the router is working out great with Verizon's gigabit service. When there's issues tech support tries really hard to do a good job sometimes you have to call back because there is a language barrier.

    Guest network fail

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

A $400 router should blow a 3 gen old Apple router out of the water, yet here I am and I don't see a bit of difference. As a matter of fact It took me a couple of hours just to get the router to talk to my computer to set it up and then another hour of finishing setup that was supposed to have happened already. I don't know how many time I had to restart the router or my computer before they started talking to each other. And now I cannot run any of my IoT devices, specifically my Nest or my Amazon Echo, on the guest network where I prefer them, and ran them on the Apple router. The Nest says it is connected, but when you go to the app it says its not. The Echo randomly decides to disconnect, which neither gave any issues before. I have had to put both on my main network, which I feel is a security risk. The Nest has worked fine, and I just switched the Echo over tonight so we'll see how that goes. I feel the biggest issue is that instead of just being able to input an SSID and a password into the IoT items and going from there, the guest network takes you to a webpage to type in the password. I am very disappointed.

      Hi, Jazclrint,

Once the router is setup, it should easily communicate to your devices. We would like to know the details on which part of the setup process that has caused so much delay since this shouldn't be the case. In addition, the password has to be entered in a web browser every time a computer connects to the Guest network.

Please email us your contact information at [email protected] so we can help you get in touch with one of our Escalation Engineers. They'll further check the reason of the delay of the setup process and to closely work with you in getting your IoT devices connected to the router.
