This a high end, extreme performance router that delivers on what it claims to. Worth. Every. Penny. It is fast, stable and provides excellent coverage with outstanding range. I do not have the largest living space, but with its Beamforming Tech it easily fills every corner, every odd space with a strong signal. I am finally able to get what i pay for with my ISP by getting the most out of my available bandwidth. That in itself provides uncommon value. Further, it does very well when there are multiple devices connected to the network. I did not see any of my devices, some of them being older, competing for signal as they all were humming along without lag. Set-up was a breeze and the available mobile app (for both Apple and Android) was great for both monitoring as well as managing the router. It was a nice change for me to be able to handle these tasks on my phone. As for the router itself, it is simply an impressive looking piece of technology. It has 8 antennas, is built like a rock and has some nice weight to it. It has a bit of heft, it "feels" good. It also comes packed in a box with padded foam on all sides. A nice touch, giving one some confidence it will not arrive DOA due to shipping issues. Overall, I am impressed with this router. - Excellent performance (gaming, VoIP, Skype, video...) - Excellent stability (many devices can work concurrently, well) - Excellent range (provides blanket coverage) - Solidly built - Smartphone App availability (Apple and Android) - 3 year warranty / 3 year tech support

    Great Router For Wireless Family

With the purchase of a new extra smart tv and sound bar and currently living in a 3 story house, we were in need of a new powerful router that could handle all of the family's wireless needs. Purchased the Linksys - Ea9500 Max-stream Ac5400 Tri-band Wi-fi Router and it did the trick. We are able to get full wireless reception on any level of the house and we have no problems with new smart tv and sound bar.

I bought this to replace a Nighthawk AC1900 that was dying. I have set up plenty of routers/access points before, but this one was a little quirky to get everything running smoothly. I had to adjust some settings on the router, some network settings on my computers (had to disable IPv6 in Windows for some reason). Now that it is up and running, everything seems fine. Now time will tell. I am holding off on recommending this yet until I see its longevity.

I read many reviews on this website and others. A lot of the reviews on here wouldn't tell me the technical comparison I'm looking for. SmallNetBuilder finally gave me the reviews and technical data I needed to make a decision. I bought this EA9500 because it had the best throughput downlink on 2.4ghz and 5ghz compared to the Netgear R8500 and ASUS RT-AC5300. I was very disappointed that a $400 router had no status indicator lights to tell you what's working and what is not. Yes, it has 6 lines of lights on the front display panel (Which isn't even touch screen). All the lights are on the front is a fancy way of telling you the router is working. Those lights have no use for troubleshooting because they are not standard status indicators. Most routers tell you if you have an internet signal, LAN is up, 2.4 and 5ghz are on, and what ports are active. This router does none of that other than tell you it's working. I was also very disappointed by the lacking firmware. As of right now I can't run custom firmware. I wanted to like this router and give it a chance but the nail in the coffin was the router kept dropping my Smart TV when it had 4 bars of signal. Other than that the router was well built. Linksys is a good brand but they have been out of the game for awhile. MU-MIMO support is a plus but I didn't have the supporting devices to test it out. I ended up exchanging this router for the ASUS RT-AC5300.

      Hi, afernando1,

Thank you for the feedback. We understand that the Linksys EA9500 has already been replaced with another device, but we would like to describe to you that there are ways or workarounds we can do to improve your router's performance. Experiencing a dropping connection could be caused by other devices or networks interfering with your wireless connection. This can be resolved by setting a fixed channel of the network. Channels 1, 6, or 11 are non-overlapping channels which you can set to your network.

Also, at first glance, the LED lights on the front of the router may only show that the router is working. But there is actually a meaning on each of its behavior, including the indicator lights on the back of it. To learn about this, check out this link: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=178063

We definitely hope you'll reconsider our products and we look forward to assisting you in the future.
