It does exactly what I wanted
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Despite the efforts of the salesman to make me buy something else, this does exactly what I wanted, namely provide a strong WiFi signal throughout our house without the need for the extenders that did not work too well.

Worth the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great wifi router. Our old router wasn't strong enough for all of our devices and my husband picked this router. I was hesitant because of the price but it is worth the costly price.

Great WI-Fi Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have multiple devices and have never seen a lag in connection. Also love the fact you can manage it from an app on your phone and also add guest users instead of providing your password.

Light Years Ahead of My Old Linkysys Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hands down the best router on the market for the average user. I can stream over wifi across my home at 200MB/s easily without any lag in performance. Pricey but worth every penny.

So far so good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son is a gamer and is on the other side of the house, but it's a small house, he gets much better results and smoother play when he plugs directly into the router. The wireless doesn't work so well that far away for his games.

Couldn't achieve over 5.0 MB/ps on local network
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked great for the internet I guess, but when I transferred files from computer to computer or ipad to ipad, which is a common task in most homes these days, the speed would go from 2.0 MB/ps to 5.0 MB/ps....on a slower outgoing older ac router I was achieving something like 50-60 MB/ps...I thought it was just me being picky until I really tested it further...I ended up buying a TP-LINK AD7200 and my local network speeds are now averaging around 950-1000 MB/ps....that's not a typo...skip Linksys, I thought the high-end model would be amazing especially because they backed it with a 3 year warranty, I was wrong.

Good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before purchasing this product, I had the nighthawk X8. The range on that router was much better than this one. Similar speeds too. The problem was, the hardware failed on two of them. This has been working alright for a month now.

Quite an impressive piece of networking gear
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First impression when unboxing was that the thing is solidly built and quite large. The 8 antennas are definitely eye catching. It might not be the most aesthetically pleasing to have sitting around on your desk but it sure looks cool and might be mistaken for a spy drone or something. Installation: The setup process is super easy when installing as a new primary router. Because of my existing network configuration, I had to do an advanced / manual install which was a little trickier. I needed the advanced setup because I was only planning on using as an access point and not as a router and I also needed to change the default IP address. The first problem I had was that if you bypass the manual configuration link during the setup wizard there is no way to get back to a point where you can log in to the router. I did not have it connected to the internet yet but directly to my laptop via Ethernet so I could configure. Because of that it ended up on a setup error page which I could not recover from until I pressed the reset button which allowed it to go back to the initial setup screen. The other problem is that in order to login to the router to change settings I needed the router password which I could find nowhere in the documentation. I had to go online and search in order to figure out the default password. Once I was able to get to the router settings I found the pages laid out well and easy to navigate. I changed the router’s IP, SSID, and several other settings with no problems. Performance: I first checked the 2.4ghz ‘N’ band because I have a number of existing devices that are only N compatible. I compared it to my existing older D-Link ‘N’ access point right away. The first thing I noticed was that the EA9500’s signal strength was quite a bit higher (-40 dBm vs -60dBm). Both devices were in the same room about 15 feet away. I then ran a speed test on both. I have cable internet 100Mb service) The D-Link was getting 25-30 Mbps and the EA9500 was higher at 35-40 Mbps. The only wireless AC devices we have currently are a couple of Ipad Airs and an iPhone 6. So I ran the speedtest app on one of the iPads connected to the 5GHz AC and had a top download speed of 81Mbps. Every device that I have used seems to have much better network performance connected to the EA9500. Range: Using an Android pad connected to the 2.4GHz network I got a good signal all around my house and the farthest point in my yard (which is probably 75-100 feet) with both access points, however, the older DLink’s signal dropped when I walked around my neighbor’s house. The EA9500 still had a decent signal that I was able to connect to at that distance. I don’t really stream much video outside of an occasional Amazon Prime movie but that’s to a hard-wired Xbox and I don’t have any 5GHz devices or Smart TV’s to test real movie streaming on. I did stream a few HD movie trailers from the ITunes store to my Ipad using 5GHz and it worked flawlessly. Of course, I was also able to stream HD trailers on the 2.4GHz band without problem as well so I don’t know if this was that good of a test. Also, streaming HD to 2 pads was no problem on 2.4GHz so I would presume using AC with MIMO you could easily support several additional streams. From my experience so far this is an incredible router with great performance. I doubt I even came close to pushing it very hard. Also, I am only using it as a Wireless access point so I can’t review the internet router functionality but it seems as if it would be easy to configure and use.

Better than netgear
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Much easier to use with modem. Will let you join current network rather than creating an "ext" network so staying connected is seamless. And small bonus - there's an app for it so you can monitor your network from your phone.
