Perhaps beyond our need but love 8 gigabit ports
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a tri-band router that has 8 antennas and quite the physical footprint. Previously we had been using the ea7500 as our main router, this ea9500 takes up quite a bit more space. I've noted that my Ipad seems to run slower on the 5ghz band compared to when we used the ea7500router. Yet speedtests on my pc show speeds that are quite good. As with other Linksys routers we have used, the initial setup is very easy. Their smart Wi-Fi software and app is very easy to use. Those who are intimidated by setting up devices such as this should find it very straight forward to install. I feel as though we are probably underutilizing the capabilities of this router since it is a mu-mimo gigabit router. I really don't think any of our current devices are taking advantage of this. Documentation notes that this router is ideal for 4K/HD tv so this is something that we should find useful in the near future. I love that this router has eight gigabit Ethernet ports. We had maxed out the ports on the ea7500 so this has been very helpful to have the additional 4 ports. If you don't find the need for this many ports I would probably go with the ea7500 router since it did a great job for us otherwise. I used Linksys online chat for product support to get instructions on how to cascade two routers on our network and they were very helpful. I appreciate the easy access to product support and getting someone on the other end that can readily answer one's questions.

East to set up, just bigger than I need.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent router. For my purposes, it is simply larger than necessary. I live in a small apartment, and normally run a Linksys EA7500. The AC5400 seems to work about the same, for me, but would have far greater potential for someone with greater needs. I currently have 2 computers hard-wired in to the router, and another 7 devices maximum that can connect at any given time. The AC5400 can hard-wire 8 computers, so it would be great for setting up a smaller personal or business network of computers. In addition, the USB port in the back for network-attached storage is so easy, it is almost plug-and-play. As for speed, the router is rated for up to 5.3 Gbps. With my lower level of cable internet, all I can say is that every device gets about 3.6 Mbps, and I have no problem streaming HD video to at least 4 devices at a time. This is an excellent router if you need the tri-band, expanded range, and large number of hard-wire connections. If you don't need all of those things, there are more economical options available, even from Linksys, which are still amazing. I have no hesitation in recommending this router if you want or need it's vast capabilities.
