This router was very easy to setup, the app makes it very easy to keep track of what's connected to set up new devices. The router may be fairly large and it is a bit pricey, but is a rock solid performer.

I purchased the EA9500 to replace an older Linksys EA8500 dual band router to increase performance with a Linksys RE9000 tri-band extender. The EA9500 has been working well and using one of the 5 GHz bands for a dedicated wireless connection with the extender. There have been fewer dropouts on the extender wireless network, particularly with 5 GHz devices connecting to the extender. The benefit of having 4 Ethernet ports on the extender provides fewer wireless devices as Apple TV and other entertainment devices can have wired Ethernet connections. Overall the EA9500 has performed better than my expectations.

I purchased this as black Friday deal to replace my AC 1900 WRT, which was working perfectly fine, I just wanted something with better range and performance at greater distances, and this model did just that. At close range I'm getting wifi speeds on my laptop close to 700MB, so transferring large files between my wireless laptops is fast compared to the 400 meg I was getting before. On the third floor of my house I am still consistently connecting at 100 meg (the router is on the 1st floor). I like that this system efficiently and intelligently load balances the wifi connections among all of my 20 wifi devices in my house. If you want to have the fastest wifi router on the block, this is it!

To start off, the router works great. It is stable and has excellent WiFi coverage. Plenty of Ethernet ports and two USB ports are great features too. For many people this would be the perfect home router. My only real beef is that the advanced configuration options are sorely lacking. I realize that many people just want to plug it in and have it work. But I miss being able to tweak the fine points of the configuration. I found no way to block individual ports, or set specific channels in the 5Ghz set up for example. Why not include a wizard for people who want simple set up and still provide true advanced access to fine tune the set up for those of us who want it. I will probably go ahead and put open source firmware on it so I can configure it the way I want.

I bought this router to replace an old Linksys WRT1900 which was very reliable for several years but when I upgraded to 1GB internet service I needed a faster router. Range might be a little better than my old router and takes advantage of my faster internet service. I regularly get 900+mps download and 50mps upload.

Love my new Linksys EA-9500 Max-Stream AC5400 Tri-Band router. Keeps everything running smoothly in the home. I replaced a 5-year old router and there is no comparison. The range and speed are much better than my previous one. Very easy setup (and I'm not a heavy tech person). When setting up, I would recommend not having the same name for all three bands, or else when devices are being connected to the router, they'll automatically connect to the 5 GHz band (you want to save that for streaming devices, etc.). I also love the 3-year warranty and customer service support that comes with it. Love the router!!

I have 1.5gig fiber Internet connection but one wifi modem that I got from Internet provider, could only give 50Mbps in bedroom and farthest locations in home. Although it was one of the expensive router but is worth every penny. I now get 200+ Mbps on 5GHz in same farthest room, no bad spot or dropped connections. Performance is great, even with multiple streaming pvrs, many wifi connected phones, tablets, laptops, smart devices, security cameras all at ones. With everything going wireless, top class powerful router is great addition.

This router is an awesome router for those who have the Internet speed and are into some serious gaming. You almost need to have at least 50mb service to utilize this to its full potential. but for those who do? It purs like a kitten. Setup is simple, although it does have a big footprint.

Did have to return the first unit as the 2.4 ghz channel would not work on wi-if after a few weeks, linksys support could not work out the issue and determined the channel was defective.
Linksys support is okay but not great. Once they escalated the call from customer service the 2nd level was suppose to call within 24-48 hours...not very convenient to say the least. Another issue is their return police is for you to return the defective unit FIRST before the issue you a replacement....again very inconvenient if you have work to do. Best Buy was awesome as they replaced without any issue.
5 stars on the operation of the unit as it works great across a very large area. Figure you can make up your own mind if the return policy or tech support call back range deters your purchase or not.

Great signal strength and fairly easy set-up. Like the phone app to control the router. Really only complaint is I had to turn off the 5 mhz channels in order for my Ring.com and wifi cameras to work. Shouldn't have to do this but everything started working immediately after.

I have never been truly satisfied with my router until now.
Anyways been an ASUS and Netgear fan until now.
This is my 1st Linksys product and I am very pleased so far.
Every gripe an complaint I had about ASUS or Netgear has been resolved with linksys.
The most stable router out of the bunch and with something as critical as networking for home security and automation then stability is fundamental.
Not to mention my devices seem to communicate the best with this brand. With tons of IoT this is highly important.
The ASUS GT-AC5300 might have been slightly faster but far less stable.
The Netgear X8 is nearly equal but devices have a harder time communicating in network.
I am excited to see how the EA9500 v2 performs. Unfortunately I got the v1.1 but never the less it rocks!

Had a hard time getting a router that meets my needs. Strong signal through my 3,100 sq ft home. Fast speeds.. Consistent. The 8 ports on the back allow me to hard wire into the rooms throughout my home. Costumer service is very helpful to get the best settings dialed in for your needs. Easy setup regardless however call tech support anyway to get the performance settings just right. This replaced two acs1900 models that just weren't functioning properly. Worth the extra money. Highly recommend for trouble free high speed internet.

Solid hardware, basic features

The EA9500 can be a decent option for those with high bandwidth/connectivity needs, but don't require more than basic features. It is designed to be quickly and easily setup, then forgotten.
The EA9500--as can be expected for a tri-band router--is large, with no option for vertical standing/mounting. The status lights are located on the top of the router which means that in many (if not most) placement scenarios, users will not have direct line of sight to them. The status lights are not labeled and have no immediately obvious meaning; you must refer to the manual to understand what they represent. No printed manual was included; instead I found a CD titled "Documentation" containing a multi-language PDF file. Unfortunately, there is no convenient index at the top of the PDF file containing links for the various versions of the manual, instead requiring you to scroll through several non-English versions before arriving at the English version of the manual. Configuration of the router is possible directly via the local web interface, as well as indirectly through the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi website, which provides convenient remote configuration and administration. Initial router setup was quick and simple. During the setup process, the user is given the option to enable automatic official firmware updates, which is a very nice feature for common users who want to "set it [up] and forget it". Upon perusing the web configuration interface, it is obvious that only very basic configuration and administrative features and options are provided. This is compounded by the fact that the implementations of these basic features are, well, pretty basic. For example, the dynamic DNS feature--quite astoundingly--supports only two providers. The lack of configurability via the web interface may be tolerable if SSH access were granted for power users, but alas, this option is sorely missing. I was immediately yearning to have third party firmware on this router, but as of writing this review (before retail release of this router), none of the popular third party firmwares (understandably) support this router model. Should third party firmware be available for this router, I would be hesitant to try flashing it in, as the manual provides no indication that this router has a firmware recovery option, a feature with which I've been spoiled by the routers available from a popular competitor. An attempt to flash this router's firmware might result in a very expensive paper-weight.
For the very limited features it provides, so far the EA9500 performs solidly. The beefy hardware--which is what you're paying for--is designed to handle high bandwidth and to juggle many simultaneous connections from many networked devices, which a lower-tier router with lesser hardware will struggle with. This is a router that can very well suit common users. However, power users, tweakers, and those with special network setup needs are likely to find the lack of configuration options frustrating and perhaps even impossible to deal with.

This is a quality, user friendly router that is easy to set up and has a user friendly web interface and phone app. At first I thought the design was kind of cool, but it ended up sticking out like a sore thumb. Everyone who saw it told me it was ugly. I tried it out for a few weeks and had a few cases where it had to be rebooted because it went off line. In the end, I went with the much more aesthetically pleasing Norton core. They both protect my internet of things, are equally fast, and easily cover my 3500 sq feet living space. It was more router than I needed and too expensive..

I have used many router/firewall devices over the years. This one is a good balance between simplified and functional. It offers some nice features for semi-technical home users which is likely the target audience for a device such as this. Guest WiFi is easy to setup and grant access to, but it isn't "secured" for some reason. This may not be an issue for you, but it is worth mentioning since other home routers have secure Guest networks. What is great about this product is the simple web interface to administer everything as well as the mobile app. You also see all of the devices on your networks in a nice map. Overall I'd say the WiFi coverage is very good. We have a 2100 sq ft house built in the late 70's and it covers most of it well. Walls and types of insulation will be different for everyone of course. Hope this information helps.

I needed faster speeds and more range with my devices in my 3 story house as my router is kept in my basement, this thing is a monster. I have 100Mbps internet provider now that clocks up to 170Mbps. I have 25 devices hooked up, each gets around 30Mbps if not more, I get strong signal down the block! I used to not get 1 bar upstairs. Got on sale during black Friday week for $260, retails over $400. Great price, great product, never going back, I would have paid $500 to get this type of results.
