Range, signal strength and options are all outstanding. Unfortunately, the software has some bugs. The network map does not always display all the network devices. When changing information on a device, such as display name, it does not always save.
Setting a static id, route and most other basic network functions could not be easier.
The issues should be fixed in firmware updates, until then 4 stars.

It took longer for us to move the cable modem to a central location for setting up this wireless wifi router for better coverage through the house. It was super quick and easy to configure the router for use. Only time I referenced the quick setup guide was to know the default SSID for the router and its default password. The rest of its setup was smooth & intuitive. I didn't realize there were so many features available on this product, however, you can't access most of it until you've setup a Linksys account online, which also allows you to access your router & change its settings when you're away from your home. You also have to setup your Linksys online account before you can assign a customized name to the 5GHz portion of router or change the default router address (all the better to avoid neighbors' routers using the same IP & thus preventing you from accessing your router setup via wifi). Other than that, love that you can prioritize devices, applications and online games (wish EQ was on that list; it did have EQ II & WoW tho) and set parental controls on individual devices. This is the largest (physical) wifi router I've owned before; no hiding it behind the tv or mounting it on the wall.

Good but overkill for most...

I've had this router for several months and it has worked beautiful the whole time. It does mind me a little of a bug but eh, totally ok. This router is replaying the generic wi-fi router that my cable company provided me. That router worked fine but needed to be periodically reset and had limited range. The EA9500 router hands down out performs the generic router or any of the previous routers I have owned, many of which were Linksys. The EA9500 provides a coverage of approximately 10k sq ft which when you do the math is a circle of about 56ft from the router. I can get wi-fi signal in my car in the parking lot that is close to 75 ft away so should easily provide wi-fi coverage for most homes and small businesses. I also tested to see if there was any noticeable lag associated with multiple devices on it; I had a PS3, laptop, tablet, phone, and Netflix streaming from the tv without any issue so it covers multiple users easily as it suggests.
The short of it all is that it performs exactly as one would expect it to do any in many ways exceeds expectations (range). However, I think for most homes and many small businesses this would be overkill. The main limitation to internet access with multiple users is the port connection into the home or business. If 25 Mbs internet coming into your home you will have slower connection speed than if it was 50 or 100 Mbs, not necessarily because the amount of devices utilizing the router.

Make sure you check the version of the router before you buy. I purchased one not knowing there is a newer version with more memory and ended up with the version 1.1. This router constantly drops my internet connection requiring a reboot almost daily. I have the latest firmware but am under the impression if they changed the hardware there must be known issues. When it works it is great, but for the price I expect it to work ALL the time.

Beast of a router

This router is the latest model from LinkSys and it is truly a beast. At first look, almost seems like it came straight out of Aliens or something with all the antennas (8 total) on this router. With all the antennas, this will mean that multiple devices/users in your house/office will be able to connect seamlessly. In addition to cellphones/tablets, your TV/Blu-Ray player and streaming devices can also connect and receive decent data speeds on your network. The setup of this router is very simple, almost plug and play. Also works well with LinkSys wifi extenders too if you have one. With the multiple antennas, its basically like each connecting device has its own router. I have a couple laptops, phones and a few other devices all vying for some router space. With this router, connection to the network and load isn't an issue anymore which is nice. Only real issue now for me is just my internet speed. Once I'm upgrade my connection to a faster one, then this router will truly live up to its potential. For now though, I'll live with it just formidably handling the network load at my place.
Great router and highly recommend.

Solid Router

The overall build quality of the router is excellent. Setup of the router was seamless and pretty straightforward. I did tweak a few settings (2.4 GHz channel, DNS servers, 5GHz SSID name) after going through the initial setup wizard. Everything connected fine, once setup was completed. Smart connect does work to separate the 5GHz clients into the two different bands based on their connection speed. Wireless range is good on all bands. The 5GHz wireless signals cover my entire home, and the 2.4 GHz wireless signal covers my entire home and two acre lot. After a couple of days of running the EA9500, I am not getting any wireless disconnects and speed is good on all bands with a variety of Apple, Android, and other devices. QOS (Media Prioritization) seems to work well, and I have not seen any lag when playing online games with my PS4 and my kids' two Xbox1 consoles. The only issue that I have seen is the implementation of UPNP. Not all of the required ports get opened up when playing online games which resulted in a Moderate NAT when playing Call of Duty Black Ops 3, but it does not result in any lag while playing. Hopefully, this issue can be worked out with future firmware update. The excellent build quality, solid wireless performance, flexibility offered with the eight Ethernet ports, and the tri-band wireless capability makes this router a good choice. Thumbs up!!

I thought I share my experiences with this router after having it for a number weeks. First to start, it's very stable and I haven't rebooted it once since installation over 1 month ago. Installation was simple, I used the web-page for my installation and was up within 15 minutes.
Pros:
- Stable
- Very fast speed while surfing web.
- Very strong signal within 2 story home.
- Simple installation (antennas all setup)
Cons:
- no status indicator lights on the front of router
- price is more on the higher side.
- Ethernet cable too short for the one included.
I even made a simple review video at:

Xtreme performance Wifi router

The Linksys EA9500 is a extreme performance wifi router. Out of the box, there was an ethernet cable, the power cord and a small 2 page instruction sheet with the Wifi SSID and the default password.
Set up was pretty straight - wire up the cable to the Internet port (marked yellow) on the router and connect the other end to the modem. Connectr using the SSID and default password. Then open up linksyssmartwifi.com once connected to set up the security, radio and firewall or advanced settings, The router operates in 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz range, each with its own network name, password and guest network. Overall it is a beast with 8 antennas good enough to cover 3000+ sq ft house. 4K HD video streaming, gaming was a breeze, only maxed out by the actual internet bandwidth with Comcast. We had 10 devices connected, they stayed connected and the throughput was constant with the additional devices. Overall if you are using 4K video, gaming or using Xbox - this one is highly recommended. Wish we had Google Fiber for the actual connectivity to pair this one to !

My wireless strength throughout my house varied from room to room with the wireless router that came with my subscription. From time to time the connection to the internet would fail even though I showed that I was still connected. Upon plugging in the EA9500 my wireless signal strength doubled instantly and I do not have the problem of my connection dropping.
I do not have a strong knowledge of wireless and would not trust setting up a router by myself but the online wizard for this router helped me do everything with using any technical language that I was not familiar with. I love being able to connect my external drive into my wireless router so all my devices can stream my movies and music stored on my media device.
Only had one thing that made this item not totally perfect. Wish that the router had the coaxial connection used by some of the internet vendors so I would not have to use the cheap router/modem it came with. Having to connect my wireless router via that modem instead of directly to the incoming connection puts one more source of failure in the system. Other than that, I am very happy with this router and would recommend it to anyone having signal strength issues and not wanting to fill their house with extenders.

Good Router, Easy Initial Setup

Received this unit for evaluation. Using for about 6 days so far and replaced my Netgear R6250 (which was actually very good and rock stable). Had to slide over a couple other devices on the shelf...this EA9500 is huge!
Setup and installation of the EA9500 was extremely easy. Setup guided very well and I ported over my previous router settings. Created the Smart WiFi account which was painless as well. Left the 5GHz band in Smart Connect mode.
Speed test results are identical to the previous router after testing a combo of 7 different laptops, desktops, iPhones and tablets. HOWEVER, over the first 5 days, I (and my family members) experienced a number of lost WiFi signals. On various devices as well for no reason.
The remedy (so far): DISABLE the Smart Connect! I did that and now there are two separate 5GHz bands that you can configure (same or different SSID if you want) and was able to then also set the channel to what I had on my R6250. After 24 hours, ZERO drops from anyone and I hope it remains that way.
I don't think I would have bought this unit at full price of $399...especially since the R6250 seemed fine. But this is a solid router with a lot of capability and a very easy setup (if you have the cash).

Being a mostly Netgear guy over the years, always had the idea that Linksys was always a step behind in terms of quality, compared to Netgear. Fyi, Before this Linksys Router, I am using the Netgear X8 Nighthawk that was purchased about 3 months ago.
In a word: impressive! I tested speeds on a TWC 300 MB/s cable connection. Hardwired (ethernet cord) laptop speeds showed atleast 300 MB/s down, if not, going over 350+ MB/s download speed.
I could easily get a connection stepping outside my home (router located on 2nd floor). Actually my phone drops connection about 5 houses down the street, again, impressive and this is on the 5ghz band too. 2.4 ghz band was stable and useful as well, though I personally concentrate on the higher band.
Installation was very quick, had my home network set up in less than 20 minutes from disconnecting my previous router.
The only negative on the router, much like with Netgear, is the whopping $399 price. But atleast you are good on wifi for the next few years. Highly recommended.

The EA9500 Linksys Wi-Fi Router is a serious looking device. At first I wondered if we even had a need for this router in our home environment. We do however, run about 8-10 Wi-Fi devices and stream Netflix and YouTube through our HD TV. I also rely on the internet for my business even though we get poor service in our rural location (only 1.5 Mbps download - yes, you read that number correctly).
Taking the router out of the package, the first impression is that of a quality product. The setup was extremely easy, even for a non-technical person like myself. The instructions amazingly simple and clear.
After connecting my devices, I was eager to test out the YouTube streaming through our TV since this was an almost impossible task - with so many pauses to buffer - that it was extremely frustrating. I was absolutely stunned that I could watch a video, with only slight pauses occasionally (no buffering). With our poor internet speeds, I can only attribute this to the router. I am thoroughly impressed.

Purchased product 7/31/2016. Its now 8/11/2017. Product completely quit. Curring the time it did work I could not see any improvement over the basic router from Comcast. Also as for the login from my phone I would keep getting an error " Not Connected to Cloud Right Now. Please Try Later. If you work a normal job you can forget about tech support. They are only available curring the day and stop at 4. I even tried to call curring the day from work and was told I have to be at the router. They wanted me to reboot. Which I did the night before. Bottom line is stay away from anything Linksys.

This router has all the bells and whistles on it. A lot of routers do. I was a little reluctant to believe it would work better than my other Linksys AC Router that didn't have the same technology, but it did. My other router didn't have MU-MIMO and was a dual-band vs tri-band. It seems that these technologies might actually be worth paying up for.
The setup was easy and the WiFi speed is nearly double what I could get on my other AC router. In fact, through most of my house I could get the full internet speed of 65 Mb/sec, at least when connecting through the 5 GHz.
The range was also pretty good. I have a three story house and have to reach from the basement to the top floor on the other side. While I'm not sure the best way to position the antennas, I was able to get the 5GHz to reach everywhere except the far corner. However, the regular WiFi easily reached the entire house and was still pretty fast on the top floor (30 Mb/sec).
