I have been using this product for a bit now and will say that is a GREAT product. I was most impressed with its ability to equally distribute data among multiple devices. We at one point had 2 TVs, 2 apple phones, 1 Ipad, 2 Tablets, an XBOX One, and a windows pc, all streaming various apps spread out over the course of our entire property (less than an acre) and then did a speed test with and android phone (also on the wifi). The results were VERY good from my internet of 30 MBPS. My tyro experiment, showed the router was doing exactly what the boxed said it would "WiFi to multiple devices at once, at the same speed"; running 3+ down and 6+up. With 10 devices pulling internet equally; I have not seen this type of result from other devices (say for ones on a T1). I even have played extensively with the online and app feature. They are set up in a manner that if you are an IT guru you can go in and "Tweak" to your liking or a novice like myself with automatic settings that populate as you go. Lastly, IT LOOKS WICKED (yes I said wicked, lol)!

tl;dr Best available router for larger homes with high connectivity requirements and data needs, flagship model that beats the rest The Linksys EA9500 is the first consumer router that finally meets the performance required for a technological family living in a large home. This router means business from the moment you take it out of the box. It is very large in size; it makes my Linksys EA6400 look tiny in comparison. The large antenna gives you some confidence before you even set it up that this is going to solve all of the issues you have been having. The number of devices connected are as follows: 4-6 smartphones, 3-4 laptops, 2-3 tablets, 4 desktops, 2 TV's and a wide variety of WiFi enabled home devices, e.g. security, locks and some Belkin stuff. The Linksys setup is easy to use for beginners and has a lot of neat customization for those that want to really make the best use of the system. I setup 4 primary SSID's and 2 secondary ones for guests. 1 of the SSID's is strictly for the TV's while the other three are 2.4, 5.2, 5.8 respectively. I do not give much credence to wireless throughput tests but the wired throughput tests that came through the modem maxed out at the maximum for the connection from Comcast. The real test that we used was maximum load on late Sunday night. Effectively this test is multiple users on smartphones, tablets, computers and TV's. The biggest test was streaming Breaking Bad from Netflix in 4K while simultaneously streaming Game of Thrones over HBO Go app to Chromecast on TV. The buffer time for the Breaking Bad was not all that bad and there was not a single interruption during the episode. Meanwhile GoT streamed flawlessly all while someone was gaming on desktop and likely downloading something. The beamforming is truly remarkable in this router. Specifically, in two instances: long distance from router and through stucco. These two scenarios have always been very hard but this router crushes all previous router issues and performance. Even on the second floor on the other end of the house, RSSI is very good. Previous routers have at times had zero connection. Also through the stucco is very good. Previously the router would have trouble 20ft from the router outside through stucco but no longer. A weekend gardening with Pandora and the occasional video were no problem and never dropped any connection. In conclusion, if you have multiple devices and need a lot of flexibility in connections this is the router for you. I am an experienced user having put custom DD-WRT firmware on routers to maximize performance. This is the first router ever that has met every single performance and customization metric that I have really wanted and frankly needed. For the price this router will solve all of your wireless connectivity issues in even the biggest and hungry of homes, assuming you have a quality ISP (Comcast @ 115MB DL, 30MB UL). I recommend this to anyone that has had an issue with a bad connection in their home or needs a lot of flexibility in creating networks so that all devices can have the data rates they need. When you have multiple people that can have all of their devices just work all the time and it eliminates the WiFi issues, it is a no brainer. Absolutely worth the cost to never have to worry about WiFi connectivity issues for the next couple of years.

    Strongest router I've ever owned

Some might say this is overkill, but the EA9500 is an excellent router for when you need to cover a large square foot area of living space while maintaining fast connection speeds for a home with a wide variety of live devices. While I do live in an apartment, almost every room has a smart connected device. Whether its a smart TV, lightbulb, thermostat, smartphone, tablet, gaming console, and the list goes on and on, there is a wireless signal being transmitted to the main router, and the EA9500 with it's tri-band support and EIGHT antennas has given me excellent Wi-Fi signal and 400Mbps download speeds with instant buffered streaming on all my devices. MU-MIMO support is a huge plus too. As you start upgrading to MU-MIMO compatible devices, you will notice that while everybody is using the Internet connection at the same time, nobody is being slowed down. The price for this router may be quite steep for some, but trust me when I say that this is one router that can get the job done for many years to come.

This router was an upgrade from a Nighthawk router, which by itself was great. This router in comparison is a beast! Longest range for my wifi that I've seen so far, handles whatever I want to throw at it with no problem, has a strong enough signal to punch through a couple of troublesome walls for reception, and with the MIMO wireless adapters there's practically no delay for any online games or streaming due to other devices on the network. It is big, so you'll want to make sure there's enough room for it. A high quality wireless router just makes everything easier for anything smart-related in the home. Worth the money!

A large router with many features, perfect for small businesses or households with many devices. My initial impression was that this router is big. I knew it would be larger than most routers, but the size is something to consider depending on where it will be located. The screen on the top of the device was unexpected, looks nice and adds helpful information at a glance. Setup had a few glitches - it seemed to freeze when I entered the DNS addresses. After waiting a few minutes, manually restarting the router fixed the issue. If you need them, it is great to have 8 ethernet ports. I’ve been using the router on a network with 4 wired devices and 16-20 wireless devices and haven’t ran into any issues. The software is user friendly. I like the network map view and guest network and parental controls are features that will appeal to some. There is a speed test page built into the software, however it requires flash and I couldn’t run it on my system The android app to monitor the network and devices it a nice utility to have. I would recommend this if you have a large number of devices on your network and need wifi to cover a large area.

Installation was very easy. I had this router up and going in no time. This is a Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router that produces Wi-Fi to numerous users on multiple devices all at the same time and speed. It is as if each person in the household has their own individual router. No more long buffering processes, delays or disruptions. The router consist of three bands delivering the fastest combined Wi-Fi speeds to multiple devices, and is compatible with Mac and PC devices. It boasts its four streams of data allowing faster and stronger functioning when gaming and streaming. In addition, if you have a home office, this allows quick downloads of large files due to the MAX-STREAM's 1.4 GHz dual-core processor. One cool feature is the”guess assess” allowing your guests network with exclusive password when using the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi. I am very pleased with the speed and efficiently of this router and highly recommend it.

Business Grade WiFi for the Home

The router is easy to install and setup using the Linksys Smart WiFi site. One thing to mention as part of the setup, I was switching from another Linksys router and used the power adapter from the original unit...it powered up the unit but would not allow for proper setup...so make sure to use the supplied power adapter. Once up and running, this thing puts out an incredible signal. In fact, I was able to remove an existing signal booster as it was no longer needed. The antennas can be directed in all directions which assists in sending a great signal to the spots needed most. I would say this is a business grade unit that easily works for a family with multiple devices on their network. It's easy to setup and is super fast, even with 14 devices connected. The only negative I see is the unit is really BIG, probably 5 to 6 times the size of the router that was replaced, and has 8 large antennas as well.

      Hi, Skiplg,

There might be a lot of wireless traffic that is causing the dropping connection and, updating the firmware and changing the wireless channel could help with the issues.

I was very interested in this router, since it promised powerful WiFi connectivity to go with an 8-port built-in LAN switch (which meant I could get all my wired devices onto the router itself without needing a second switch). This seemed like a clear answer to some of the advanced routers coming from Linksys' competition, and I expected that the firmware would be similarly packed with features. The WiFi performance is very good. I've had no serious range issues, and this router has all the MIMO and beam-forming features to guarantee that it can handle every device's maximum-supported 802.11AC feature set. Speaking of device compatibility, it worked great with everything except an older Moto E smartphone, which is sometimes unable to establish a WiFi connection right away. I'm augmenting the EA9500's range with a Linksys extender in the floor above, which wasn't strictly necessary but did improve connection strength. The two Linksys devices worked together very easily. Be aware that this is a large device, and has no way to wall-mount it that I could find. I had to set up a makeshift table for it, since it didn't fit where my previous router was located. However, this is not uncommon for newer high-end routers. Unfortunately, despite the solid performance, it's missing many features I've come to enjoy/expect on high-end routers from other manufacturers. In my opinion, the Web-based management interface is overly simplified, and does not provide in-depth control over many settings. Although it has an accurate network map of connected devices, it has no real-time traffic-monitoring capabilities that I could see. (For instance, to know which computer on the LAN is hogging your download bandwidth… or to estimate total monthly usage for users unfortunate enough to be stuck with ISP data caps.) Although it has an 8-port switch, none of the ports can be configured for LACP - admittedly, a feature few people can really take advantage of, but one that competitors have implemented nonetheless. I held out on writing a review in the hopes that firmware updates would rapidly improve the management interface, but I've been using this router for several months and haven't seen any updates so far. There's still a chance Linksys will improve the situation, but it really seems like they might be intentionally limiting some of the feature set of the EA-series routers. (I think the WRT-series is considered the "enthusiast" line.) If you're the type of person that rarely touches a router's management interface, I'd still consider this router a decent choice if you have a lot of devices to connect to your home network. The router itself performs well. However, if you're an enthusiast that likes advanced control over and in-depth information about your network, I would probably suggest looking at other routers by either Linksys (the WRT-series) or other companies.

so in my experience with setting up wireless devices, something almost ALWAYS goes wrong...you need to download a driver, firmware, call tech support, etc.....not with this one. plug in, follow simple 3-step instructions....you are online and connected. linksys android app is actually usefull!! we have a long ranch style home - don't even need an extender for this. distance is great and speed screams!!! it is well worth the extra money. spend it once and you won't keep having to buy another one year after year.

Upgrading from the Linksys ea7500 I can see the difference in bandwidth and connectivity. There is dropped signal and there are dedicated frequencies for your most used gadgets. The range still leaves something for improvement. I did not see much improvement in the range throughout my house and still cannot get a strong signal into my backyard. Although that could be due to the construction of my home that is blocking the signal which is a plus for me. Overall, this router is worth the money spent if you are a gamer or heavy wifi user for multiple gadgets. I currently have 2 smart tv's, 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, a tablet, MacBook, printer, Amazon Fire stick, and a security wifi camera system connected to this router with all of them working seamlessly with no dropped signal. The router physically is kind of big with a futuristic spider look, but the extra antennas must make the difference. Don't hesitate to purchase if you are in the market for a new router.

The Linksys EA 9500 is an absolute beast of a router! If you need a router that can handle anything and more that you can throw at it this thing is it! I run multiple iPads,iPhones, laptops, an iMac and an Xbox one with this thing and it has not missed a beat. This might be overkill for someone like me, but if you need a network that won't crack under heavy use then this router will handle it and then some. I wanted something that's future proof and that when I upgrade to a 4K tv and can stream 4K content I know that my router can handle it! This thing should be on anybody's short list if you need a strong stable wired/wifi network!
