Love it (and it's matching extender)

I had trouble with my wifi speeds using the supplied hardware from my ISP. I looked into getting something new. After reading reviews and checking out a couple online videos, I chose this wireless router and grabbed the range extender also. Since then, no issues and I'm able to stream and get good signal from bottom floor to the 3rd floor! I have a external hard drive hooked up to it also and access files wherever I am. I love the ability to manage and administer the settings, no matter where I am. If I'm at work and I want to enable port forwarding to access my desktop via RDP, I can. If I want to reboot the device when I only have access to the LinkSys app, I can. Wonderful equipment! The setup even shows me where the sweet spot is for placing my extender. No issues til now and I have had this for about 8 months. This, along with my own modem and the range extender is a match made in heaven!

The best from Linksys by far!

This is as powerful as advertised! It is the easiest to set up of all the Linksys routers and the range is incredible. I did not need any Wi-Fi extenders in my house after installing this product and my 4k streaming is virtually instant. It is worth the price!

This is a really good router. With my original router and my local cable company internet speed at 50 Mbps, I was downloading at 10-15 mbps during peak hours. With the linksys system added, I received 45-49 Mbps during peak hours. The only downfall is there is no coax, so I have to go through my current router in order to connect. Easy setup and simple web setup. All in all, great product.

The set up was easy, the wi-fi app on my phone is easy and its been smooth sailing since i got this router. I have 2 PS4's and UHD TV, 2 smart phones, 2 laptops, 2 tablets and DirecTV, they all run seamlessly and with extreme ease, it also help that i have my own modem and an high grade internet package, and now the router to get it out to my mail. Love technology.

    Great Router

Upgraded from a Linksys E3000 which was a pretty good router with some quirks. I live in a large house (3600sq ft-3 floors) with 3 roommates and have about 30 or so devices hooked to my network at any given time. Can have upwards of 50 devices on the network at times when people visit. E3000 had problems with handling a lot of traffic at times and with bad reception in parts of the house-had to incorporate some powerline networking and range extenders in some rooms. This Linksys EA9500 is not having these problems. Seems to have good reception throughout the whole house. I have a 150 mbps cable internet connection that did pretty well with the old router, but the new router seems to be using the bandwidth better. We have multiple compters and laptops, a few gaming consoles, printers , cell phones, and 5 TVs- 2 of which are 4k TVs. With the old router we noticed there could be a fair amount of buffering when we're all streaming video- especially on the 4k video. My roommates and I would all complain about this occasionally. With this new router I haven't seen any buffering at all which is what I had hoped for when I got this router. I've only had it for about a week so I don't know if we've pushed it to it's limit yet, but so far this router has been great - we're all happy with it.

    Review after 4 weeks

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

BestBuy and Linksys have repeatedly asked for a review, but I try to delay reviewing something just out of the box. This is a little after 4 weeks have passed. The router was SUPER EASY TO SET UP! Connecting to it by my PlayStation, my Cell Telephone, my Printer, and Smart TV was just easy, so easy I would have to look at the directions to remind my self how to do it, but the Router itself does most of the work automatically (I do remember creating a Linksys profile to show all the devices, change passwords and ensure I activated the security). This is a top of the line Tri-Band router, which should allow multiple devices to use the different Bands at the same time (without buffering or slowing down). However, I have not streamed video to understand whether the Triband will keep multiple device going without buffering or slowing down (Cell Wifi, internet searches and printing all occur simultaneously as if they were actually wired)..

Greatly improved Wi-Fi coverage in my home

Before installing this unit, I ran a series of speed tests (speedtest.net) using multiple devices, including tests with my computer both wired and wireless (without changing position or distance from the router). Based on my findings, this unit improved the wireless signal in my home office, which is on the opposite side of the house as my router is, by more than double. I am actually receiving wireless signals only marginally slower than I do using a wired ethernet connection. Setup of this device was relatively straightforward. I say relatively only because the Wireless gateway that AT&T uVerse provides its customers does not offer the simple ability to place their unit into "Bridge-mode", so I had to modify quite a few settings to make this unit work properly. For uVerse customers, I suggest you follow the instructions on this page: https://forums.att.com/t5/Features-and-How-To/How-to-put-the-Motorola-NVG589-in-bridge-mode-or-as-close-as-you/td-p/3552057 I also thouroughly enjoy that this unit has a built-in 8-port switch with dedicated input, allowing me to ditch the current 8-port switch (Netgear) that I had been using to route to all of my wired devices. Overall, I am very satisfied with this item. Another great item from Linksys.

    Big, Powerfull, Speedy

Over the last 20 years, I have had several different WiFi access points and Routers. This one has been the most powerful one I have had to date, and so far, the performance (after setup), has been stellar and has really fixed some of the problems we had with the one it replaced. Pluses: - 8 Antennas, all adjustable to point and maximized your range - FINALLY a router, that doesn't use a wall-brick adapter. Regular sized cord, to a relatively small adapter, and then tot he router. - 8 hardline switch, which is FANTASTIC near a desk or a central hub - USB connections to share a harddrive or just use as backup storage - SPEED and Bandwidth. We have been able to utilize 3 iPads streaming full video with no problem... The wireless speed performance, caps at my broadband speed (AKA, it works as fast as my network can allow it to) - 5ghz and 2.4ghz, is great. So some of my older tech can use the 2.4, and the newer tech can use the 5... Cons: - It is big, it will take up some desk space, or wall, or floor. There is no easy way to "hide" this one. - Software setup for the most common user will be easy, straightforward. But for an advanced user (like myself, who has a separate dedicated NAT router), it will be a bit frustrating to get past some of the automatic adjustments... but once done, works great. IF you have multiple people using video streams, and you still need to be able to shop on BestBuy.com at the same time... so far, this router/wifi seems to fit the bill very nicely to allow everyone in your home to connect.

I have spent a lot of money in the past on wireless routers trying to get the speed and coverage I needed in my home. We use at least 30 different devices in our home that use wi-fi in one way or another. I have had the most current technology in my home over the last 4 years and nothing has worked as well as the Linksys - Ea9500. I live in a tri level home and have always had to use a second router as a wi-fi extender. I now only use the one and it provides great speed and coverage to my entire home. We love to blame internet providers for our speed and coverage problems, but when it comes down to it you need to have the right equipment. Don't second guess your self and don't try to save an extra hundred dollars. Spend the money on this device and you will not regret it.

It has fantastic range and I get every bit of the speeds I pay for on all my devices! definitely recommend. Also, the 8 ports on the back are a plus other brands at the same price point only have 4 ports (average)

This is a high end router from Linksys. Hooking it up was easy, and starting it was not a problem. Positives- 8 ports – lots of ports to plug directly into the router. Interface and setup are easy Dual band worked fine Multiple VPN ports can be designated Neutral- The have icons to attach to your network devices. They have the Wemo series of products and some other generic icons, but not much else if it matters to people. Negative- No aggregate ports No bandwidth monitor (couldn’t find it in the regular Linksys screen location or any other pages) Have to use an app to connect with mobile devices Keeps trying to get you sign up for Linksys smart-fi Requires adobe flash for the speed test. Flash is going away. Wireless range was not as great as other similar range routers. All of the comments are from the original firmware shipped with the router. The issue is, for a top end router with the matching price, it needs to have features others in the range do. Firmware upgrades should be able to fix many of these issues I think, but they should be there from the start. So, average overall since it has room to improve and should.

I replaced a Nighthawk router that was daily dropping the internet connection. I wanted another better Netgear, but the Best Buy router sales person convinced me that the Linksys AC5400 Tri-Band WiFi 5 Router would be a better alternative and showed be the Smart App that I could get for my iphone. The setup was easy. I have 32 different devices on my home network and this router easily handled it. I have a 4400 sq ft home and the wi-Fi and direct ethernet easily covers them all. Yes, many devices needed their passwords reset. I completed the whole network setup in 3 hours. After a couple of days, I'm very happy with the router. Still no internet drop outs.

We went from a cheaper more basic router to this beast, and the difference is amazing. It was very easy to set up use. Directions were very clear. Seems to handle the 10+ device demand in our home with ease. Only issue I have noticed, several devices tend to disconnect and reconnect frequently on their own. Nothing major, just annoying.

I've enjoyed this product. This is probably the best and most trouble free router I have owned in a very long time. I had an ASUS before this and will not touch and ASUS product again. This has been fast, reliable and best of all, I haven't had to call support once in the time I've owned it...it just works! Being able to manage it from an app on my phone is wonderful. If I'm having issues with streaming speed (my internet provider is horrid), it's easy to go assign priority to a device without getting up and using the computer. It sits at the back of our home, which is 70 feet to the front door. The wifi signal won't let go until we are up the street a block. Great coverage, great speed and very reliable.

Very good router, kinda pricy, but the speeds are very fast, and it has a good range overall. But for the price, I wish that It would have a WPS button, since it could be helpful from time to time, but overall I am happy with the purchase.

I exchanged my Nighthawk X10 for this router and wow, what a difference. I have gigablast internet and this router handles it no problem. I have 16 products connected to this router and the speeds are maintained at high levels. My MacBook Pro is connected to the 5g signal and I get 700+ speeds consistently. This router was completely worth it. I extended it with two range extenders, Linksys Max-Stream AC1900, and Im extremely impressed. Standing about 10 feet away from the extender that is upstairs, I get 400+ speeds on my iPhone consistently. Together, Im extremely satisfied with these products and I highly recommend them.
