Big and powerful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is big and heavy... but powerful. I replaced my old EA4500 with this model and am glad I did. I have much more "connected" devices (smart TV's, PlayStation, several iPad's, several laptops, a desktop, video streaming services, etc.) in my house now, so I need some more power to keep up. Setup "seemed" easy... except Linksys included the wrong password for the router in the box... I tried several times to enter the password, then tried to troubleshoot online and found out that the temporary password was actually printed on the bottom of the device, as well as included in the box... the two passwords didn't match. As soon as I entered the "correct" password from the bottom of the device, setup was easy.... I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for this issue.

Good router for medium distance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried this router with a few different computer and distance combinations. 1 - iMac Late 2015 w/802.11ac; 1 - Mac Mini w/802.11n; 1 - HP Desktop w/802.11n; 1- iPhone 6; 1-iPad 4th gen; 1- iPad Mini 3 I also compared its performance to the existing UVerse Gateway the supports 802.11ac; and an older Apple Time Machine that only supports 802.11n. I have UVerse as my broadband provider. Due to that, initial setup can be a bit tricky and should not be attempted by a novice. I found transfer rates to be acceptable when the computers were in the 2-10 meter range. With the ac bands, there was a small improvement in speed, but still nothing close the a wired connection. And if you get much further, or if you are too close (1m away) the rates will drop sharply. Even on the "ac" channels, which has a therorectical rate of 1Gbps, the actual is usually closer to 195Mbps. Having the two USB ports is a bonus for sharing peripherals on the network, but compatibility is drive dependant. In a price/performance rating the value is on the low side of average. I get equal or better throughput from two other cheaper routers, one of those being the built-in WiFi on the gateway supplied by my ISP. The inclusion of the 8 Gigabit wired ports is the biggest bonus for me. I have wired my home with Ethernet cabling to take advantage of the maximum data rates possible. The status lights are a joke. One ambiguous, pulsing series of bars and other short/fine lines that are very nondescript. If you are going to have status lights of any kind, make them meaningful and clear. In short, if you are trying to get the most out of your WiFi; and you are in the 2-10 meter range; and you don't have a lot of obstructions like walls, floors, etc.; and you have a good chunk of money to burn; and you want bragging rights then this is the router for you. But if you don't want to spend a lot and just need to replace an old WiFi router or upgrade to newer protocols, there are a lot of other less expensive routers out there that will work well.

Great replacement for my Nighthawk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking around for a router that could replace my Netgear Nighthawk. I found that Linksys EA-9500 fit my needs. I was able to get more range throughout my house and the setup was simple. Able to logon remotely to monitor and change any settings on a fly via the phone app or computer browser. It's a bit expensive but future proof for at least another 5-7years. If you're looking for a good router, this is the one for you!

Amazing Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an incredible router. Covers all 3 floors of our home with ease and blows the last two routers I have had out of the water. The smart switching on the 2nd and 3rd bands is great as we do not have to choose which 5G we want to connect to. Having the 8 Ethernet ports is great as well as I am able to hard wire everything in our living room. Got in on sale which made this even better, definitely worth every penny.

Decent wifi router - awful software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The signal and coverage on the EA9500 is really good. The eight gigabit ports are nice. Even the minimalist exterior of the router itself is acceptable. What is absolutely horrible, in my opinion, is the software/GUI. There are more problem areas than I care to detail right now, so I'd like to flash DD-WRT on it but it looks like Linksys does not allow that. Still trying to decide whether to take it back over the software.

Good Range and Very Easy Setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally, a router that just works. I have always had Linksys modems and routers, but when I moved into a new ~3100 sqft house I decided to do some research specifically on signal range before upgrading. I decided to purchase the Asus - AC3100. What a mistake that was. I was constantly losing network signal on either 2.4 or 5 GHz (sometimes both). At some point my laptop stopped being able to connect at all, although other devices worked fine. I returned my first unit after tech support was unable to help and bought a second, assuming the issues couldn't possibly occur twice...they did. When I finally decided to go back to my old standby brand and spend whatever it took to get a router with good range that "just worked", I landed on the EA9500. Sure, it's expensive and has features I can't even use yet given the state of my connected electronics. But this router is solid and high quality (and perhaps a bit large, but space wasn't a concern for me). Setup was a breeze; I had it unboxed and configured with mostly default settings in about 10 minutes, including the firmware upgrade. I suppose it may take new Linksys customers a bit longer to set up a Smart WiFi account, but I couldn't be more pleased. The router is on my main floor in a closet so signal has to pass through several walls to reach the corners of my house, but I don't seem to have any dead spots with this unit. Speeds are faster, particularly at distances farther from the router vs. my previous model. I do highly recommend this unit if the cost isn't objectionable.

Great Powerhouse router for Large Home
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router has all the power to cover your large home when placed centrally. It provides 3 bands 1 for 2 ghz and 2 for 5ghz bands giving you multiple paths for managing your network usage. Its big size keeps the router cool to perform efficiently. It has 8 ports for connecting your wired devices. If you are a person who watches lots of online content and plays high end multiplayer games this is the router you want to get.

Super fast router and setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this router to replace my old Netgear N router. I thought the setup process was a breeze, I bet my grandma could do it. The Smart Wifi system also made it super easy to set up port forwarding and device prioritization for gaming. I'm shocked at the range as well, can be a good couple houses away and still connect. The bonus wifi dongle for connecting my desktop was a nice surprise in the box.

Great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for something to improve my home wifi and give me the ability to put parent settings for wifi and such on my network. This router did the trick. Quick and easy to set up. Double my internet speed, replacing my Apple timecapsule and circle product. If you are looking for something from beginner to advance level security this is the product for you. Only con on the product was the larger price tag.

So far so good.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the same old Wireless N router for years, and recently decided It's time to upgrade my network, at first I tried the WRT32X Router, Although the aesthetics looked eye appealing, the overall UI and performance lacked. There were constant dropped connections, and after about a week I had had enough.. So I plugged my old but trusty N router back in and left it alone. Moving forward a couple months, I decided To Give Linksys ( a bit skeptical ) another shot to redeem themselves with me before going back to my previous brand., This time though, I decided to go for the mammoth of wireless gateways. So far 3 days into it, I'm impressed, 5g is stronger than on the previous Linksys Router, I have yet to drop a connection, AND the UI is a lot better than the WRT32X or the wireless N router ( which looks like it has come out of the 80's ) This router is set up in my laundry room and has several walls for the 5ghz signal to pass through but so far it's doing the job and doing it pretty well. . Overall Do I expect failure on this routers part? I would say yes, as technology never lasts forever. Parts are made to fail, however while I have this thing up and running, i'm going put it through the test. On a side note, it does run warm so make sure you have it in an area where you have plenty of ventilation and can get some cool air to it. If things change with this router and it fails, I will update this and post what has happened.

Great router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.EA9500 Setup was very easy. The free Linksys EA9500 Max-Stream™ AC5400 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router was sent by Linksys for a review. All devices were detected and I only need to enter the password for the EA9500 router. Even at 1.5 Mbps access I can view videos on PC, Laptop, Android Smart Phone and Android Tablet at the same time with smooth video viewing. I get 5 bar signal strength though out the my 1440 Sq. ft. residence.

One of the best routers on the market
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Featuring eight antennae, eight gigabit Ethernet ports, and high-speed tri-band ac wifi, this router is simply superb when it comes to connectivity, wired or wireless. Quite possibly the best connection you can have for your home without investing in alternate access points or a mesh wifi system. I would highly recommend this router to any power user with a high budget for networking paraphernalia.

Huge setup problems and gaming lag
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the Linksys EA9500 for its extended range and speeds as a replacement of my old Netgear router. I've built my last 3 PCs so I'm technically inclined with most things PC. The setup was problematic. Had to call customer service and they still couldn't get it right. After an hour and a half of talking to multiple foreigners that were difficult to understand we finally got things going. Thinking we were in the clear, we all began using our day to day equipment as usual. Most things worked just fine. Kindles, Ipads, Phones....no problems. My gaming computer that ran wonderfully on the Netgear, but began experiencing major lag spikes on the Linksys to the point where I had to stop gaming. As a gamer, that's inexcusable. Restarts and tweeks here and there and then more restarts to clear up the lag issues all failed to fix the problem. Very disappointed in Linksys. For the amount of money I paid for this, and the amount of time spent with their customer service, this is shameful. I have since unplugged the Linksys and repackaged it for return. The old Netgear is back up and running like a champ again. When I upgrade tomorrow, it will be with the Netgear Nighthawk X6 and I'll use the older Netgear in tandem. I should've stuck with what worked and saved myself a couple hours of headache. Lesson learned.

Best Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's expensive but it is worth every penny. Strong enough to reach every corner of a 3-story log home. We had twenty people in the house with online access needs and no one was having any issues. On one floor the PS4 was running and on another movies were being watched via Netflix online. This is my third attempt to get the wifi right and this system solved all my problems.

Excellent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is great. It EASILY gives my whole 1500 square foot home coverage, even through 2 thick concrete walls. It's strong enough to provide a stable connection to my Nest which is across the house. Easily THE BEST I've ever used. Smart Wifi is super easy and it's awesome to have access to my router from anywhere, get notifications if the network goes down, etc.

Excellent router for range and strength
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Max Stream AC5400 was a breeze to set up and use. The range is phenomenal and the 2.4 and 5GHz bands both have their uses due the large number of devices I have connected at all times.Even with the heavy network traffic in my home, I have had no issues at all with the use of this router.
