Fantastic Router but will NEED firmware update!!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this router. Especially because of the fact that I got it for half the price during the Black Friday sale. This router will definitely help me future proof my devices for years to come as they got more advanced and as more devices adopt WiFi 6E. Literally, this router gives me great signal within the house. I actually haven’t seen it drop to two bars yet on the WiFi symbol. A constant three whole bars! Now, I’m not sure how it would fare in my basement but judging from how strong of a connection I get in my room upstairs, I would expect the same signal strength in the basement. Now, the firmware update! I have Verizon FiOS gigabit internet. As I unplugged my crappy FiOS gateway router, I then connected the Linksys Hydra router. Setup is super easy and simple through the app no problem. At the end it’ll say it needs to “update” to the latest firmware. Please note that this firmware update didn’t allow me to take full advantage of my gigabit upload speeds but it did allow me to get my gigabit download speeds. However, after spending time with Linksys support chat, they told me I needed to download the latest firmware from their website manually! This was a fairly simple process and after the router updated to the new firmware, I was able to get my promised speeds Verizon both Downloads and uploads. Again, fantastic router. I noticed things load very fast and snappy like on my computer Ethernet connected and on my WiFi devices!!

GREAT ROUTER WITH FAST SPEEDS/GOOD SIGNAL
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed a new modem Motorola MB8711 and connected through Xfinity app in minutes. I have this paired with my Linksys Hydro Pro 6E Router and it works like a charm. I had an old Nighthawk C7000 modem/router and would get maybe 300mbps tops. After the switch to my newer set up, I constantly got 700-720mbps and 24up on my Note 20 Ultra 5G and Ethernet connection from my router to the PS5 around 600-650mbps. I have a 600mbps plan through Xfinity and it goes above that. Plan to upgrade to Gigabit speeds soon and I'm sure it won't disappoint. I like that the router is 6E capable and is future proof for now. Will add some devices soon to take advantage of the 6Ghz/6E soon. I have a 1800sqft home and have no problems with the drop off with the 2.4/5ghz bands in speed. I have the set up in the living room and can go to each corner of my home with great speeds. My son said his PS5 speeds doubled through Wifi. Happy with this router so far. I have atleast 15 devices connected and no lag. My LG OLED smart TV streams 4K while my son is on his PS5 and other deviices simultaneously without a hitch. I would highly recommend the Linksys Hydro Pro 6E.

Lynksys Router -
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Go this router to upgrade my old one, I dropped cable many years ago, all my TVs are smart, plus the smart plugs, lights, camera, etc, so far this router has been a great decision; TVs were pixelated sometimes in the past, now I don't get that, I thought it was the transmission but now I think it was my old router. Easy to setup, signal is good.

Faster than any device can reach
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally I can break the 940 Mbps download barriers with Xfinity upgrading at not extra my 1000mbps speed to 1200mbps. My current Linksys router was capping the speed below the potential of my internet until I bought this one. I am still testing it but after a firmware update things started to just working as expected with Linksys products.

My New Favorite Router
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.--- Installation--- The installation of the WiFi Hyrda router was a breeze! Download the app, connect the router, follow app instructions, and you’re up and running in 5 minutes. --- FEATURES --- This router can connect more than 55+ devices, covers 2700 sq. ft, and reaches speeds of up to 6.6 Gbps. This router includes the newest WiFi 6E for low-latency performance needed with the virtual reality headsets. --- PERFORMANCE --- The connection of this router to my modem was a breeze. Though my modem works as a WiFi router itself, I had trouble with some devices not recognizing my 2.4Ghz WiFi band. Specifically, my automatic, keyless entry lock would always be a hit or miss connecting to my modem WiFi router. This new router fixed that issue and now I am able to take full advantage of that device. Little by little, I kept switching my devices to the Hydra router. It felt like night and day. I have 1200 Mbps down because I have over 25 devices connected at any given time. Sometimes, when streaming 4K content on my TV, the TV shows would occasionally pause while it caught up even though I have plenty of bandwidth. After I switched to the new router, that issue hasn’t surfaced. I did a speed check on my iPhone 12 Pro Max before I disconnected it from the original modem router and it read close to 400 Mbps down. When I did the speed check with the new router, it read 943 Mbps down. --- EXPECTATIONS --- As with any new router, I expect to see an improvement and this router didn’t disappoint. In fact, the results were so spectacular that it is now my favorite router. It is easy to manage, easy to break into older Ghz if needed, and easy to set up and install. --- VALUE --- Though many tech products don’t use WiFi 6E yet, it’s a great investment if you are already shopping for a new router and want to future-proof yourself. --- APPROVAL --- This router is highly recommended for people with a lot of WiFi devices at home running at once, and for gamers whose family members also watch streaming shows at the same time as you.

Exceptional Wi-Fi 6 speeds
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.== Overview == The Linksys Hydra Pro Wi-Fi 6E Tri-Band router is a huge improvement over previous Wi-Fi 5 routers. Devices using Wi-Fi 6 seem to improve twice as much the download throughput when compared with Wi-Fi 5 (be aware, to achieve Wi-Fi 6 speeds, you do need to have a Wifi6 capable wireless adapter). If your device is not Wi-Fi 6 capable this device seems to outperform other similar Wi-Fi 5 routers, so overall it is an excellent investment. Got even older devices? No problem, this router has 2.4Gz as well, for a full tri-band experience for a wide range of devices. -- Pros: Wi-Fi 6, three (3) band router, USB 3 SMB network share, reliable (so far), allows multiple device connection. -- Cons: not too compact. == Setup == I plugged the Linksys Hydra 6E to my ISP provider’s modem and used a laptop to connect to the default network using the password written at the bottom of the device, after opening the browser I received the welcome screen with the suggestion to use the Phone App to configure the wireless network (I felt that the message was it was the preferred method for configuring the router). After downloading the Android App on my phone, I had to connect to the wireless network (of course) before the App could recognize the router (silly of me, I was wondering why it was not recognizing the router, well you have to connect to it first). I am old school and I like as much control of the devices as possible, so I was hesitant to use the App with its simplified GUI. I was expecting to use a physical network cable to connect to the router and do the configuration from there. Well, you can still bypass the phone App and get to a more “standard” configuration screen, on the welcome screen where it suggests you download the Phone App, just click on the “Skip this step” area (a little hidden, which means “they” do want you to use the phone App). Upon selecting that, you are asked to login with either the router password or the wireless default password, and then you are set to rename the Wireless network, etc. == Configuration == *Tip* you can skip the Phone App and use your browser on your computer to connect to the router and configure it. I prefer the web browser configuration version as you can see a more detailed view of your configuration and feel more under control of the Linksys Hydra Pro Wi-Fi E6. A few interesting points in the configuration: -- You can add external storage and set up a user/name to access it from other devices connected to the network. -- You can enable/disable any of the three bands this device is using (2.4Ghz, 5Ghz and 6Ghz); however, it is recommended to leave the three bands alone with the name and password to optimize speeds. -- You can display a list of devices that connected or are currently connecting to the router, the only downside is that I couldn’t find what speed/band the devices were using. -- You can check the speed from the router to the internet and use it to compare with the speed on your actual device connected to router. == Connectivity == I have connected to the router at the same time: -- three (3) Wi-Fi 6 laptop devices -- three (3) Wi-Fi 5 laptop devices -- one USB network share (attached to the router) -- one network cable connected Surface dock with another Surface Book device -- four (4) phone devices (Android and Apple) , and so far, I haven’t seen quality degradation overall. The only noticeable thing was when multiple devices were connecting to the USB-share flash drive, the more devices reading from it, of course the more time it would take to read (more of a limitation of the flash drive). Internet access though seemed to not be really affected when browsing, playing videos, and doing some gaming, etc. At least when running Windows 10, if your device is Wi-Fi 6 capable and connect to the wireless router, a dialog pops up about the benefits of Wi-Fi 6, so that you know you are now connecting at amazing speeds. == Range == The connectivity range is similar or better to other devices, comparing with the X1 from Xfinity and a Netgear router I have (although those are only Wi-Fi 5). We own a two-story house, with this device located in the main home office room upstairs (which is about in the middle of the house), the device covers the whole house, front and back patio as well, so the advertised 2700 sq. ft. is a safe measure. I plan on using this device to connect from the patio when having barbeques and watching movies on a projector connected to the wireless router (a win-win scenario). Now, I own a gaming computer with a Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650w 160Mhz wireless adapter, and I’ve found, in terms of range and connectivity, that the device really takes the most advantage out of the router. Other two laptops I’ve tried with Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz wireless adapter decrease their Receive/Transmit link speed quicker than the Killer one. So, it is not only to have a high performant wireless router, but equally, it is important to have a high performant wireless adapter to take full advantage of the Hydra 6E. == Speed == As already mentioned, Wi-Fi 6 seems to outperform twice as much when compared to Wi-Fi 5, at least at home setup and doing some basic experiments. The router has a utility (powered by Speedtest) that can be used to determine the current speed of connectivity to the internet. I used it in conjunction to SpeedTest.net on each device I was connecting to and I didn’t see too much discrepancy in connection speeds when the devices were close to the router, of course, the farther away you move from the router the speed gets lower as well. I attached some pictures showing some numbers. One of my interests was to have a router that I could use to communicate between different devices I own, so I did a few tests. [Test A] Copy from a network share to a laptop connected wirelessly. Copy ~3GB of data from a USB stick plugged into the router to a device about 10ft away from the router: -- Wi-Fi 5 laptop with Intel 802.11ac: , speed range: 20MBs-30MBs , largest file average speed: ~28MBs -- Wi-Fi 6 laptop with Intel 802.11ax (AX201): , speed range: 40MBs-50MBs , largest file average speed: ~48MBs -- Wi-Fi 6 laptop with Killer 802.11ax (AX1650w): , speed range: 50MBs-60MBs , largest file average speed: ~54MBs [Test B] Copy between machines Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 5. Copy ~3GB of data to the laptop that has a Killer 802.11ax (AX1650w) wireless adapter from: -- a Wi-Fi 5 device (802.11ac): , speed range: 10MBs-20MBs , largest file average speed: ~19MBs -- a Wi-Fi 6 device (802.11ax): , speed range: 25MBs-35MBs , largest file average speed: ~32MBs It is clear the improvements of Wi-Fi 6 over Wi-Fi 5. Other tests performed showed that the Hydra outperformed other routers I own. So, this one has replaced them all (and left me with at least one router that I could use somewhere else). == Other notes == A few things to note: -- I still need to use the device for longer to have an opinion on the reliability of the device, but so far it has been performing amazingly. -- This has replaced my previous Netgear 5Ghz dual band wireless router. -- I like that it has a power off/on button, in case I need to power it down (I always felt like unplugging the router to turn it off didn’t make much sense).

Linksys Hydra Pro 6E - excellent product
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading about this Linksys router, I thought I would give it a try even though it seemed a little pricey. After installing it, the router found about 17 devices in my home and automatically assigned them to the correct Wi-Fi. I was having to reboot the old Netgear product about once a week. I have not had to reboot this router yet. It works like a charm. It also has Wi-Fi 6 which I’m sure I will need in the future. I live in a 3 story condo and it works flawlessly. Some of my gadgets are wired but most are wireless. I got my money’s worth.

A phenomenal router
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is phenomenal. It has range, it has speed, it has mesh capability. It has it all. The footprint is on the small side for a router of this capability, which is a plus for me. It was easy to add to the Velop system I already had setup. The router by itself covered my entire house and extended decently into the yard and garage, but I noticed the WiFi switching to the already established Velop system when I was in certain places in the garage, but I have a node that is much closer to it. Overall I'm very satisfied with this router and would recommend it. Likes: 1.) Excellent range and speed 2.) Assignable QOS 3.) Parental controls Dislikes: 1.) Can only be setup through the smartphone app

Serious Wi-Fi Speed with 6E Spectrum Availability
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Linksys has a new product on the market, and it's making a big splash with speed throughput in the Wi-Fi realm. It's the Hydra Pro 6E Tri-band Mesh Wi-Fi router. The package includes the router, proprietary AC adapter, short ethernet cable (CAT5e), and some paperwork. Linksys offers a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. Disclaimer: I tested this router with a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G which has the 6MHz channel capability used for the extra 6E spectrum and also a wired gaming PC. PROS: ----------- * Setup was the same as the Linksys Mesh system and Max-stream routers they have sold in the past - very easy. Just use the Linksys app, and it just works. A quick firmware update to start and you're up and running. * Connects easily to existing Linksys Tri-band Mesh towers though they may have to be reconfigured from the previous Linksys base to this one. * The speed, man. The Speed! In using my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, I was able to tap into those 6MHz channels and reach some serious speed at home with my AT&T 1Gb/s fiber (1Gps up and down). * 5Gbs ethernet input capacity. When fiber upgrades over 1Gbs, this router will be ready. * This router gives the ability to add a USB external drive that can be shared to anyone connected to that router. Simply type in \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on Windows File Explorer where the x's are defined on the app and access is easy. You can set up open access or password-protected. Very nice feature for shared storage items. * I like the on/off switch on the back. If the unit needs to be powered off, that's much easier to deal with than unplugging the unit and plugging back in. * WPS availability (button on the side) * Linksys continues to offer "Guess Access" so people that come to your house don't get your main network password to connect. * Parental controls also available as it has in the past. Schedule when your little ones can and can't access the internet on wifi. * If your home or apartment starts getting congested with wifi signals from surrounding sources, the app provides a "Scan Channels" function which will scan the area for a better signal frequency to maximize your speed. CONS: ----------- * The Linksys app still continues to be slow loading on my device (and other devices). Perhaps it has to do a ton of pre-checks before showing data on the screen, but it seems that it should load quicker than it does. OTHER OBSERVATIONS: ----------------------- * The range is impressive; however, I still prefer to use the Linksys VELOP tri-band nodes for better coverage around my house which can limit the 6E speed. Keep in mind that the only way 6E speed is typically needed is for file transfer and video uploading. Most other applications don't need anything near this kind of speed. * Offers the normal 4 ethernet ports with up to 1000Mbs speed per port. * You can manage multiple Linksys routers on the same app. You just need to go into the 3-line menu and go down to the bottom and select the Network Name. That will take you to a page where you can switch networks. * The External Storage settings are located in the 1st section of that same main menu. * Antennas can rotate as needed at the bottom swivel points. * The official USER GUIDE can be downloaded from the Linksys.com website. The paper version is not included in the box. CONCLUSION: ===================== I have AT&T Fiber and get 1Gb/s service download and upload. With Linksys's Max-stream Wi-Fi 5 router, I would get around 400-500 DL/UL. With 6E enabled on my Samsung S21 Ultra 5G (one of the very few phones that offer the 6MHz frequency band), I'm getting the full spectrum!! It provides insane speed, not that there's an app that needs that much speed at once, but it's there. 6E is for real... and this router produces. I have 3 Tri-band Linksys Mesh towers, and this router connects easily though the towers won't offer the 6E speed. Highly recommend, easy setup. More advanced features on the router are available, but usually not needed. Great job Linksys.

Improved performance over my older router
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was using the Linksys wrt1900ac router which was 8 years old. I was experiencing some buffering issues on my tv’s which are all wireless So I upgraded to this new model and immediately notice for my 60” living room Samsung tv the speed changed from about 120mbps to just over 200 mbps Have not seen buffering issues since getting new one Also setup of router was super easy and took about 10 minutes I’ve heard you should replace router every few years for newer specs, technology One other thing, my small tv in bedroom still gets only 50-60 mbps but it could be the brand of tv I’m very pleased with mine

Awesome router for coverage around your house
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router to get the latest WiFi 6E in my house for gaming and streaming. It hasn't disappointed yet. I can go out to my car or my garage which is 100 feet from my house and still have connection with this thing. It's awesome. It's extremely easy to set up with the app on your phone and you can control everything from the app no matter where you are. Like if your kids aren't doing their chores and you are at work you can turn it off...lol. And I am a long time Linksys customer and always buy their products because they seem to be up to date on the latest tech for wifi technology.

A solid, fast, and capable router with no drama.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router saved my sanity. It's a bit of a story, but read on to see why. I'm an IT professional with over 30 years of systems and network administration behind my grey beard. I started on technologies like thick ethernet, coax, and twinax. Yeah, been at it a long time. So, I'm fussy. Over the years, my spouse has put up with an insane humber of network changes, from using dial-up PPoE routers in the mid-late 90s to some weird custom setups. We've owned gear from Apple to Zywall (seriously!), and some have worked better than others. The current search began over three years ago. We moved back home to New Mexico from Arizona, and the Netgear Nighthawk we had, and worked so well with Cox, had all sorts of issues with Comcast. (Yeah, I know they're using a different name. Don't care.) In frustration, I pulled a pair of Apple Airport extremes out of the closet, put them behind a custom IPFire firewall, and used those. The last gen of Apple's AirPort Extreme (the tower one) works pretty well, but I did try a Gryphon unit (ugh), and decided to keep using them. Until we bought a new house, that is... Since we had overlap with the rental house and the one we bought, we picked up a Netgear Orbi 3-node WiFi 5 (802.11ac) setup for the new house, as I had no way to run ethernet cables into, say, the bedroom, and wanted some jacks there for the TV and such. It worked, but not well, and we had enough issues that we took off the satellites and just used the one station. Luckily, there was enough signal to stream everywhere. With an eye towards simplifying and reusing the machine running the firewall, I started looking at decent units that could do duty as "one unit" without me having to maintain a firewall and WAP, with he resulting mess of cabling and power bricks. First up was an ASUS WiFi 6 unit. The specs looked good, but there was one issue: I couldn't get the manual! I'm visually-impaired, and even if there's a print manual (there wasn't), I download the PDF so I can read it. Not available in English. I contacted Asus, and they eventually got back to me with the explanation that they hadn't written it yet. They suggested using the manual from a similar model. Back it went. Next up was something quite new: a Okyo Garde from Palo Alto Networks. This looked promising, as we use a Palo Alto next-gen firewall at work, and I knew that were offering much of the same overall protection in their subscription service. Not cheap, but very solid. The unit also had WiFi 6 built in, and seemed like the perfect solution. Not so. There was no way to change any of the network settings for your internal network. I've used a particular RFC-1918 subnet for over two decades, and several of our machines have static IP addresses. Imagine my dismay when I discovered that I could not change anything, not even the DHCP range. I contacted their tech support, and was told that you couldn't change the settings at this point, but "we're always improving." To which I respond, "We also release things before they're ready." I do not appreciate spending money to be someone's beta tester. You want to pay me, fine. But not the other way around. By this time, I was getting dejected. We'd just about given up, when my spouse spotted this Linksys unit. I've used their gear before, even pre-Cisco purchase, and it's always been solid. It also offered two things of interest: WiFi 6E, and WPA3 security. When it arrived, I downloaded their app and crossed my fingers. What a relief. The app allowed me to set up the basics very quickly, and once it was running I was able to log in via the web page and tweak things even more to my liking. The performance is far better than I expected, too. With this unit in the office, the furthest point away is the master bedroom. With the Orbi, the max I could see on any device was about 200Mbps, less than Half of our rated download speed. When I tested with iPerf3 on the local network, the transfer rates were similarly low. With the Linksys, I am hitting the same Internet speeds in the bedroom as I see wired: about 420-430Mbps. Locally, iPerf3 showed a huge improvement, with average transfer rates of around 800Mbps. The signal is strong throughout the house, and the unit itself is unobtrusive, with no light show to annoy us. Yes, it's good. Is it everything I want? No. But, see above comment about being fussy. It's by far the best consumer-grade home router I've found, and it does exactly what it promises with no drama. I would (and do) happily recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good, solid WiFi router with decent features, excellent performance, support for the latest standards, and did I mention no drama?

It works fine
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We haven’t had the problems others have had. Everything speed tested faster than with our old router which was a high end Linksys from 4 years ago. I’m curious as to if people are upgrading the router without a sufficient modem.? No range issues and our house is 2800 sq. feet. It’s mesh capable anyways, but it works fine even outside in the hot tub. It is by no means a miracle product, but it performs as advertised. I don’t think six e will help a 5 year old computer either. This is month 3 and so far so good. I find reviews after a day ro be fairly useless anyways. Its not the best, but it was $370. There are more expensive and better routers, but this guy works fine. Not a gamer, so I could not tell you if it is good for PC gaming.

Buy it and love it Manage ALL of your data!
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't sleep on this router. I bought this to handle the ever growing WIFI enabled devices in my house. With the meshing system, adding more space for WIFI devices is as easy as can be. Since I've only used Linksys products, setup was a breeze! Routers are mini computers, so you get what you pay for. Don't let the price scare you and if you are scared, buy the protection plan. I'd recommend this to everyone because it's worth the money in my opinion.
