I bought this keyboard for typing because the bubble/membrane style keyboards (chiclet keys) are terrible for touch typing. Although this mechanical keyboard is loud, it is not as loud as the old IBM keyboards. The G710+ is the best keyboard I've had in over a decade.
The backlighting is adjustable in two zones (using two separate keys), and I have not experienced any issues with the backlighting. It certainly makes finding the keys easier in poor lighting conditions.
The font for the symbols on the number keys is a bit unusual, and makes it difficult to figure out what some of the symbols are. The @ sign looks like a square blob. It is also unusual for the symbols to be listed on the bottom half of the keys with the number on the top half. Other symbol keys such as the ? key have the symbols similarly inverted on the key, but everything types normally.
Although the keyboard does not say it is Mac compatible, a Mac that I tried it with had me press a couple keys and then recognized it as a US 101-key keyboard. The media keys and volume control all worked on the Mac without installing any additional hardware.
Of course the keys all work as expected when used with a Windows PC.

Mechanical keys just give that satisfying click. I use this for my development work and the Logitech software allows me to save the macros I need to perform specific tasks. The lights are also a nice touch

This was my first mechanical keyboard since I used one in middle school, hidden underneath the soft plastic cover. Upon setting it up, I noticed that the keys didn't produce as much of a familiar "click" sound as I had been expecting - a function, I suppose, of the Cherry MX Brown switches that are used. However, the tactile feel was just right, and I got to playing and typing.
Both purposes are well-addressed in this keyboard. The action is fast and responsive. I haven't had any huge use for the macro keys yet, but at least having the option is nice. Also, I noticed the USB passthrough on the back of the keyboard. Previous reviewers had noted that it was awkward to have the passthrough on the back, since the cord for a USB microphone would then have to go around or over the keyboard. There IS a groove for a USB cord that runs underneath the keyboard, so at least there's another option, if that is a concern.
Overall, a very good keyboard for the price point.

A good keyboard for gamers. Logitech is a well-known gaming brand. I like the feel pressing the keys and the sound it makes as the keys are being pressed. Seems to be a well-constructed keyboard.

I purchased this for gaming and it works like a charm. If you're looking into mechanical keyboards for long bouts of typing, you may want to look into a different type--the keys are appropriately mushy for gaming (double tapping, quick response, not much pressure to push), but also appropriately mushy for accidentally hitting adjacent keys when home-row typing quickly. Nothing constantly noticeable, but when I sit down and pound out a word document, there are typos that I blame on myself, and typos I blame on the keyboard.
The programmable buttons are very nice to have, and I LOVE the sound wheel on the side. Works very nicely with other Logitech devices via the Logitech Gaming Software!

This keyboard is solid. You will notice its heft right out of the box (or when you pick the box up).
The keys make a very satisfying sound and I feel like my browsing on the internets is actually being productive on this bad boy.
LED lights go from soothingly dim to jarringly bright (especially in my mom's dark basement). The wasd and arrow keys can be lit differently from the reset of the keys. The color of the LEDs is white and cannot be changed, but this isn't really a con for me...it just doesn't really mention the color of the LEDs in the specs.
Very good keyboard. I would recommend to anyone looking for a mechanical keyboard. My mother also thinks it looks good.

This is a great keyboard! Not too expensive, but still excellent product. Like the mechanical aspect of it and the fact that it lights up nice and bright. Another great Logitech item!

I bought it mostly because it was on sale. I price matched it with B&H. Took me about 30 minutes to get them to price match it but it was definetely worth it. Ended up getting for $60

The keyboard is good. Not as quiet as I was led to believe. Typing on this compared to my non Logitech keyboard at work is night and day, and not in a good way.
Day to day typing, whether emails or documents feels much better on my non-gaming Logitech.

The keyboard itself is astoundingly quiet for a mechanical, and the o rings work wonders while still retaining that crisp mechanical click feeling. The keyboard looks, feels, and sounds great, but the Logitech Gaming Software is devastatingly sub-par.
That being said I still recommend purchasing it, just as many people have pointed out, once you've mapped all your keys you can uninstall the software and be good to go.

My first mechanical keyboard. Love the feel, not terribly loud. Wish the cord wasn't so stiff, other than that, very satisfied with feel for gaming and typing. Lighting is very good/bright as well, I don't need colors as I like the plain white.

I use this keyboard for PC gaming and everyday use. The typing is very fluid and feels fantastic to me. I've used other backlit keyboards from Logitech but this is the first mechanical keyboard I've purchased. The adjustable backlight settings are useful and easy to change with a key press. Media controls work well and I like the volume adjustment. USB passthrough makes it convenient to plug in my short webcam cord. Macros are a little inconvenient to program but not too difficult that I would deduct a star for it. I use the macros in games and desktop applications.
Now anytime I use a membrane keyboard it feels sluggish.

You can't go wrong with the Logitech G710+. Five back-lit levels from bright to off. I use the dimmest level right before off or no backlighting and think it's perfect. Good feel from the keys, macro settings, sturdy. Can't beat it for the price.
