this was a new one to replace an existing one that was a few years old. the old one started giving lots of problems and eventually stopped. this one was very easy to set-up using existing info. there is a major delay in the ff, rewind and play buttons. it does NOT stop when you press play.

Great Remote - Easy to Use - Short Battery Life

I could write a long review on all the positives. Easy to use, easy to program, covers all the bases and lots of custom options...all for much lower price than the main "One" they sell. Only drawback is the battery life is quite short, and as its double-a batteries that's unfortunate.

To watch TV at my house, depending on where you are, you have 3 or 4 devices to synch at configure to the right settings. Watch a DVD? Make sure you turn on the TV, Blu-ray, amp and set it to DVD. Watching TV, make sure to turn on amp and set it to SATELLITE. W/Harmony, either one of those 2 activities is a single button press. Some trade offs: 1. You have to hook it to your computer to program it 2. You have to setup an online account to program it 3. You have to know the brand and model # of every device Things I love: 1. people who come over can be trained to use remote in 2 seconds 2. when you pickup the remote, the button backlights come on. LOVE THAT!!!! 3. can control up to 8 devices 4. I can put all my other remotes in a drawer

I wanted a decent Universal Remote for home so I don't have to look for all the remotes. Works pretty well with Vizio TV, Dish Receiver, Sony BD player and Sony Media player. Easy to setup. Sometimes the devices don't respond and then you have to click the help button which works fine.

I have been using a Logitech remote for years. I have a complex system with a Bose sound system. Bose uses RF vs IR and is very tricky to set up. Logitech is the only universal system that I know that works them all. This is a good value remote that helps control all your devices. I actually put away all my other remotes and only use the Logitech

This is actually my 2nd purchase of this remote. The 1st was a gift for my mom. It is programmed thru Logitech's website & USB cable. It's pretty easy to do so. You must have all the make/models of the devices you are going 2 setup. You can update it any any time. Good buy.

Great universal remote with awesome ergonomics, backlit, color LCD screen, and easy web programming even if you are the most basic of technically inclined. Simply connect the included USB to your computer and follow setup as instructed. Sure you can buy a $200 remote but why would you when the Harmony 650 easily gets the job done..

I had a Logitech 880 previously. 7 years old and was showing some age. Bought this one, WOW what a breeze to configure using the online tools; much easier than my old one. Downside: you practically have to be pointing directly at the TV for the devices to respond.

Fantastic remote. Easy setup and controls enough devices to be useful. Extremely easy to setup and upgrade via software. Prefer the physical buttons over the more expensive models touchscreen buttons. Only wish this had the rechargeable batteries like the old Harmony 700 (i believe), but not a deal killer. Definitely worth the purchase.

logitech has made it so easy to set up then sync remote with your computer—no pointing the separate remotes together or complicated programming, just enter model #s of components into computer program (logitech's database is huge) then connect w/ the cable and sync. can even customize further if desired. only downside: cost is a little high for remotes whose buttons will likely fail after 3-5 years. BUT, if you accept that they have a limited shelf life, no other brand I've looked into can touch logitech's. they also have much more pricey other types of remotes with touchscreens (I find it hard to use the touchscreen on my phone and the layout on these remotes is not intuitive for your hand), rechargeable bases (I like regular batteries I can replace), and remotes with home automation functions as well. just do your research and read reviews (both good and bad) on different sites (here, logitech's, & amazon.)

This thing does it all! Because of this remote, I was able to put all my other 4 remotes in the closet for safekeeping. I press one button and this thing will switch between my DirecTV box, input on TV, and home theater system, to my Blu Ray Player, different tv input, and home theater system. No more fumbling with multiple remotes :)

Good feature set for 5 device A/V system

This is our second Logitech 650. We are happy enough with the original to pick up another unit. Original runs a 5 device A/V setup: STB; Blu-ray; HDDVD; HTR; TV. 2nd unit runs a 4 device setup, and was bought because a) wife found the older "Universal Remote" for that system difficult to understand; and b) that older unit did not fully understand a new blu-ray player. The computer based setup makes the Logitech easier to program - especially for combined activities (TV + STB + HTR), and the scrollable color display makes it easier to use once programmed. However, these are certainly not "perfect." MSRP still seems too high. We were fortunate to find both units at considerable end-of-year discounts (both from Best Buy, 1 year apart). Have read complaints about failing buttons: after a year of usage, the original unit does have two buttons that SOMETIMES require a More-Deliberate-Punch to activate. The primary complaint we have is that the 650 often fails to toggle the power switch on our U-verse STB. This usually manifests itself as a failure to turn the STB "OFF" when switching activities (say, TV to Blu-ray). ALAS, the toggle almost always works when switching BACK - which means the STB turns OFF when we want to change from watching the BR player to watching TV. This is relatively minor irritation, as a simple punch on "OK" turns the STB ON - but this is not how the remote should work. NOTE: You can use the "Help" function on the 650 to inform the remote of the failure, which it will correct - but it is easier to simply hit "OK". Eventually, it will walk you through a "repair" sequence, but the problem always returns.... Still, have not been able to find a better unit, at a more reasonable cost (at least against Best Buy's Sale price...). And the popularity of the Harmony remotes means you are more likely to find on-line help if needed. (CNet will even tell you how to "Hack" the 650 to control more than 5 devices!)

Was very easy to setup but must have a computer and internet access. Went from 4 controls to just one, only thing I dislike is the waiting period from watching TV to a DVD you feel like you did something wrong because nothing happens for about 15 second.

I have a mix of electronics and I wanted one remote to mange all my toys. I chose the Harmony 650 because it was able to control all my devices for under $100 dollars. The 650 came with batteries and the proper cables to connect to your computer to set up all your devices. Contact your local best buy for current pricing.

Lost my DVD remote so bought this remote to allow me to use it. Setup is easy. All my devices were known, out of the box. No trying different remote codes. It provides the freedom to assign any key to any function and has some free keys to allow custom controls. Works great. Better remote than they shipped with the product.

I own 6 of the Harmony 650 remotes. This one was a replacement for one that was about 5 years old and had some broken buttons. In my opinion you can't buy a better low cost universal remote that supports multiple devices so easily. The web based programming tool works well and covers everything from TVs to AV Receivers, Apple TV, Game Consoles, DVD players, the works. You can also do some nice customization. The 650 does not support RF and so you will need line of sight to your devices, but for for the use case I have which is for my kids rooms which have all the devices I mention above it works great. Expect 3 -5 years of daily use before they wear out..

I bought the Logitch Harmony 650 remote to eliminate the clutter and inconvience caused by needing seven different remotes to control my components. The Harmony was very easy to setup via a software app I downloaded from the Logitech Web site. You just need to enter the make and model of your components such as TV and DVD player and the Harmony programs the remote with the commands found on the original remotes. If for some reason a command(s) is not entered by the app it can be manually entered via the software very easily. Once your components (Logitech calls them Devices) are entered you can then create activities that perform a sequence of functions. For example, I created a Watch TV activity that turns on my TV, changes the TV to the input my cable box is connected to and then turns on the cable box. All of this is done by pressing one button on the Harmony remote. You can create many activities to do other functions such as watch a movie or watch Netflix. I highly recommend the Logitech Harmony 650 Remote. It has made my life a lot easier!

Am very happy with this universal remote. It replaces up to 8 remotes into 1 unit. Especially love that you can program the remote online then load those updates to the remote by connecting it to my laptop's USB port. Simply log onto Harmony's site, find the brand & model of your specific equipment (TV, sound-bar, cable system, etc..) from their extensive list, and follow the prompts to configure as you wish. For instance, for the "Watch TV" activity I have it set up so pressing 1 button will turn on the TV, sound-bar, and cable box, and then ensure all of these devices are set to the proper input. Plus all the remote buttons are set to function for that "Watch TV" activity. If a press the button for another activity called "Watch a Movie" then all systems reset to turn on our BluRay player and the remote's buttons will now perform commands associated with that activity. All from 1 remote, rather than having 3 or more remotes laid out. Actually had to buy an extra for my wife because she liked it so much that she kept taking "my" remote.

Just buy this universal remote! You won't regret it! Read further only if you don't know about harmony series of remotes: This universal remote is awesome if most of your devices are IR capable. The best part is that the setup is done using a computer and a USB cable. Enter all your devices' model numbers into the website, answer a few question about how they are connected and you're done. Logitech does an amazing job of keeping up their database so even the future devices will work. It worked with my Yamaha receiver, Samsung TV, DirecTV box, Apple TV etc. The remote also has capability to program activities that can turn all the related devices and put them in the right channel/input. Overall a great buy! We love it.
