Pros and Cons
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 3rd Harmony, and second model 665. Pros: Once programmed, when you buy a new one you can just plug it into your computer after logging into the Logitech account and program the new one to match the previous one immediately. Cons: Buttons stop working too soon. I've got 3 buttons on the old one that stopped working. Second Con: They stopped making this model and the next model to replace it appears to be way more expensive. I will probably switch to another company if they don't make a comparable model. I don't want to spend hundreds on a remote control.

Love this universal remote!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once I got up to five separate remote controls for my home theater setup, I figured I should probably look into a universal remote. Logitech basically owns this market. From my research, they definitely have the best products out there in universal remotes. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it - Logitech has some models that are over $100 and involve a "hub", which I didn't want. This model 665 is really the sweet spot - it's not too pricey and it has all the buttons you ever need. I thought that the LCD was gimmicky, but it's really an invaluable part of the remote, since it's fully customizable. It takes place of all the individual device buttons, as well as specific remote buttons that may not fit being assigned to any of the physical buttons. Along with the LCD, all of the buttons are also customizable via the free Logitech "My Harmony" application for your desktop or laptop. You just hook up the remote to your computer via the included micro USB cable to sync it with your configuration settings that you set up in the application. The application is really simple to use - it takes through the setup process, step by step. It's also really nice that your settings are saved to the Logitech "cloud". so the settings are always backed up. Lastly, if it hasn't been inferred already, there are no "codes" that you have to punch in, like on old universal remotes, it's all handled by the My Harmony application in the setup process.

Easy to use Remote
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Remote is the best we have owned as it is so very 'user friendly'. The screen, as does the Remote itself, has pictures and simple wording so there is no guessing as to which button does what.

Great once it's setup, buggy PC software
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This remote is great once you have it all set up. It's is very flexible and customizable and it does everything I've hoped it could so far. My biggest complaints are around the software to program it, which you need to use. It's kind of slow and buggy. Also it doesn't work on Linux, so I had to use Windows. Every time I launch it, it asks me to sign in again. And when I try to sync the settings, sometimes the sync button does not work until I restart my PC, which is really annoying. If the software worked a little better, and was Linux compatible, this would definitely be a 5 star product.

Posted .Hi, we're glad to see you're enjoying the Harmony 665 Remote! The MyHarmony Software can be confusing sometimes. But we also have a Tech support team that works specifically with the Harmony remotes. Fantastic product
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These remotes are fantastic. I had another one that eventually died, probably from being dropped way too many times. The critical thing these have that no others do is the activities. There are countless remotes with widely varied prices, but none do this. If you have a system with multiple components, receiver, DVD player, tv, etc with most universal remotes you can control those components, but only one at a time… with harmony you control them all, customized for the activity and your preferences simultaneously and customized for the activity. If you are watching a dvd and hit pause it pauses the dvd, if you are watching tv, hit the same button it pauses the cable box, streaming from another device, pauses that… also if you use all of these things with a stereo system, regardless of what you are watching or the source/mode you’re in, the volume buttons control the volume in your stereo, not on your tv… This concept doesn’t seem that hard, but nobody else does it, and it’s life changing. This remote is relatively simple and once you get it setup it just works.

Great universal remote
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Remote is very intuitive and a lot easier to set up than advertised. Macros are easy, all you basically need is make and model and the program will find your device. Very happy with purchase.

One remote? So much better than three!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We are extremely pleased to (finally) be able to control all of our devices with a single remote control. It takes just a little practice to overcome a learning curve but it can't be beat!

Almost there but oh well.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish Logitech had more competition in this segment but it is what it is. The remote is great, it works 90% of the time... It does what it is supposed to do. Controls everything we have (TV, BluRay Player, HTPC, ROKU, Cable, and Sound System). We made various scenes for the different situations and all. My only gripe with this is the software used to program the remove. It is straight out of the dial up days. But lately Logitech has not been inspirational when it comes to quality so doubt this will be something that will be fixed in the near future. Maybe the software for the higher end options is better and they don't care about the lower end stuff... not sure. Anyways. It works most of the time. And the software is a pain in the !@#.

Great universal remote
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed to replace an aging universal remote with failing buttons. There are many options out there and I had not considered a Harmony because I only have a few devices and was just looking for something simple. Well the 665 caught my eye with its simple design and affordable price. So I decided to give it a try. Setup was fast and easy with the app. I was up and running with zero issues. The remote’s buttons make sense with the devices I’m controlling so really no learning curve at all. I’m quite pleased overall. The only negative I’ll note is I had to replace the batteries after about a month. There was no warning; the remote just rebooted when I pressed a button. I’m using rechargeables (eneloop) now and I can live with swapping them out periodically. If your setup isn’t overly complex, this remote may work for you too. I think it’s a great value.

A Decent Remote, as good as it got (in 2008)
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good, solid piece of equipment that is of high-quality construction and sturdy materials that feel like it would take a lot of drops onto a floor or other abuse. It is fairly easy to set up using the Harmony app on your computer. It has a very strong signal and does not require that you be close or ail precisely at the device you are controlling. And, as all remote controls should but few actually do, it has backlit buttons. Like all Harmony remotes, your settings are stored online and won't be lost if the remote is destroyed or stolen and has to be replaced. BUT, it is rather cumbersome to use compared to other Logitech Harmony remotes, often requiring multiple button pushes to access activities and favorite channels. This is particularly annoying in that, even using the Harmony app, there is no way to alter the default order of listed activities. The display is NOT a touchscreen. The selections are made from the four displayed choices (n favorite channels) by buttons to the right and left of the screen, and the screen scrolls right and left providing additional choices by buttons at the bottom f the screen. The inconvenience of this is somewhat mitigated by the hard numeric keys that allow you to tune to channels directly without relying on "favorites" (assuming that you remember your channel numbers). Otherwise the buttons are logical and intuitive, and this remote approaches the ideal for controlling a DVR or Blu-Ray player. One MAJOR drawback: It cannot control most streaming devices like the Amazon Firestick, which require RF or Bluetooth rather than IR. This is an old-fashioned IR-only remote. Pros: 1. Straightforward control buttons. 2. Relatively inexpensive compared to other Harmony remotes. 3. Attractive and well-built. 4. Powerful IR signal 5. Backlit buttons Cons: 1. No touchscreen 2. No BlueTooth or RF, so it won't work with many streaming devices 3. Cumbersome to use and only partially user-configurable 4. Discontinued by Logitech and vendors are price-gouging

So Far So Good!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've seen a lot of negative reviews, but my initial impressions are very good. Just follow the directions and make sure you download the correct version of the app. I have an iMac running Catalina, which is not compatible with older versions - "Harmony Desktop" is the one I needed. It didn't really take that long to get it set up to control my TV, DVR and Blu-Ray player. The process is pretty straightforward. The app did have problems connecting to the remote a couple times. Had to quit the app, unplug the remote, restart the app & plug the remote in again then it worked fine. Pretty intuitive to figure out which buttons do what on this remote compared to the old ones. All in all I'm happy with it so far-we'll see how if holds up in the long run...

Great Remote
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love how many options and setting choices you have with this remote. You may use similar devices, but it can have different inputs and outputs to be able to handle multiple settings.

Gift
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this as a gift for my boyfriend because our puppy has eaten all the remotes in the house so I thought it would be easier to replace with one remote rather than buying multiple!

Easy Peasy to set up

Perfect for my needs
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this to Replace 5 remotes controlling a cable box (xfinity), TV (Samsung), receiver amp (onkyo), blue ray (Sony) and Roku streaming box. It does everything I wanted it to do, easily swapping between systems without having to jump between remotes. Each activity has all the functionality that I would regularly use. It does have to be set up by connecting to a PC but it was fairly easy to configure, just have all you device manufacturer and models at hand. Cons are, it is a bit bulky, and the “ok” button is a bit small and easy to hit the navigation buttons when pushing it. There are Later versions which are more compact but also pretty expensive. The price was a big factor in buying this late model. Overall I am extremely happy with this remote.

Possibly best universal remote
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This remote does everything advertised and can handle multiple devices (we have TV, Xfinity box, Sound system and DVR player)within the one remote. The only thing that keeps me from adding the last star is the (likely necessary) complexity of programming and learning curve to operate. As it must be programmed through the associated computer app, the buttons may have different functions or combinations than a user may initially expect. This means guests in your home who may not be familiar with your remote settings may temporarily disrupt your programming by pushing button combinations that do not have intuitively predictable results. This can be recovered and reset, but for those household members who are not tech savvy, it can take a little time to get familiar with how all the options work. Still, better than using 4 separate remotes!!
