The remote is intuitive to use. Controls all my electronics with just this one remote. No longer need my notes on which device to use in which order to watch TV, see a DVD, etc.

Easy to Program, Easy to Use Universal Remote

I was looking for a universal remote control to replace a worn out control used with an old Sony home theater and to consolidate multiple remotes to one. The Harmony 665 met all of the requirements and then some. Set up is a breeze. Once you install the MyHarmony software on your PC it is a simple matter of entering the name of the company that made your equipment and the model number. Answer a few questions, connect the 665 via usb cable and you are ready to go. This is a smart remote. When you press the power off button it asks if everything turned off. If not, it walks you through each device asking if it needs to turn each on off. It does the same thing when you turn on your devices. It really helps to get everything back into sync when one device is powered up or down when everything else is the other way around. During programming of the remote you select which device(s) should be powered up for a specific activity like watching TV, playing a DVD, listening to music, etc. Only the selected devices will be powered up and provide control. The display can be switched to show/control each device and I have not found any device function to be missing from the remote.

Great solution to a simple problem

I have a very simple task that this Harmony does very well at a modest cost. I have a 10 year old Velux skylight that opens/closes and has a motor driven shade. Recently the custom remote control that came with it died. Velux doesn't make them anymore - customer support did suggest checking the big auction site, but warned prices were recently between $100 and $400. Velux makes good skylights - why make a good product that could last 30years into junk because it is unprofitable to supply a simple remote? I checked online and someone suggested that this Harmony would work and that Logitech had the "codes". I bought one and spent a total of 1/2 hour setting it up and acquiring the codes on the Logitech site. Bingo! Works perfectly.

Very easy to set up devices and by far the best remote I have had. Even though I have had this remote for 2 and half months, I haven’t gotten into setting up all the buttons.

I bought this remote to replace an existing Logitech 650 remote. After a few years, some of the buttons were not working on the older remote. The 665 is very similar to the older remote but it is black in color and I think it controls a few more devices. My bedroom TV stereo system has six devices which the new remote turns on and off. I did not want anything too tricky and I did not want a charger stand. The 655 uses standard alkaline batteries that should last most users several months. Before purchasing the 655, check that all your devices are IR (infra-red) controlled. The 655 will not control RF (radio-frequency) devices. Logitech makes fancier remotes like I have in my living room system. These also allow you to control the system via a smartphone. But I like having a separate remote which includes actual buttons that for the most used functions, I can operate by feel.

Remote works very well. Would have given 5 stars, but setup was a terrible experience due to the awful Logitech MyHarmony software. If you get stuck at adding activities during setup, do this: start the program, then open Task Manager, then go to the Details tab, right click each of the four MyHarmony threads, and select "Set Affinity..." Set the Processor Affinity on all of the threads to use a single CPU by unchecking every box except one. I set it to use CPU2 for all of the threads and I was finally able to complete the setup.

Since I bought my first harmony remote, I enjoy using it. Logitech has done decent job with setup process with program and account setup on a computer. I like how they improved harmony 665 from 650 with led screen, updated capabilities for the use of soundbars and certain other devices based on type of remote you have. My two favorite features of my remote is the led screen and backlight buttons. I like they change to led screen from a lcd screen. Led screen are more energy efficient and ability to control their brightness at times.

I needed a universal remote that can handle 10 devices and this was the most cost effective solution. I found that 8 of the devices were in the on-line data base and was able to use the "learn" function for the remaining 2. The color of the screen is very weak and for the most the screen is black and white. When using the learn function, only the buttons on the sides of the LCD display are used and you have to scroll through multiple screens to get gto the desired key. Programming the remote is straight forward and easy,

Loving my Logitech-Harmony 665 Remote Control

I purchased the Logitech-Harmony 665 Universal Remote after the original Samsung remote to my 65” curve tv stopped working. The setup of the new remote was very easy. After reading other reviews and folks stated they had to have Geek Squad program their Logitech-Harmony remote, I was a little nervous and thought “wow” this remote may be to complicating for me to setup (not very tech savvy—lol). I decided to give it a shot and try to program it myself. YAY!!!! I did it. Programming was very easy and instructions were straight forward. After gathering the required information from the devices I wanted to operate with my remote and downloaded the app, I followed the instructions and BOOM-BAM remote was programmed!!!!!! After getting in from work, my husband couldn’t believe I programmed the remote and didn’t send out a SOS for help :) My Logitech-Harmony 665 Remote functions as should and I LOVE the fact that I only have to use one remote to control all my devices. Beforehand I was using two. I’m very happy with my purchase and—yes I recommend the Logitech-Harmony 665 Remote to anyone looking for a new remote control.

    It's So Easy

I've had the good luck to come across several A/V components recently. With my last universal remote I had to look up codes, key in those 6 digit codes and hoped they worked. Sometimes the components were manufactured more recently than the remote. So I crossed my fingers hoping the codes were 'close enough' to work the components. Getting the macros to work was an effort in trial-and-error and more finger crossing. Not easy! With the Harmony 665 I just bring up the PC app, pick my components from a huge database, and answer a quick (4 steps) questionnaire on how I'd like them to interact. Literally, changing a component on my Harmony remote takes about 2 minutes. On my previous remotes it would have taken more than that, and success was always hit-or-miss. Other advantages: I can look at the screen on the remote while selecting a function; I don't have to aim the remote directly at the infrared receiver. The remote wakes up automatically when I pick it up. A couple disadvantages: The functions I use most (pause, skip fwd/back, ffwd/fback) are low on the remote and the balance is off at that level. There's a little trick to getting this work with Windows Media Center. Just pick Media Center PC as the device and ignore the warnings about possible incompatibilities. It works just fine. Love it.

I've had a previous version, so I was familiar with how it works. The app was not super easy to figure out, but once you do, set up wasn't too complicated. The remote works with all my devices, and even controls the smart features of my tv, like Netflix, Youtube, and Amazon. My one complaint is that it rarely gets all the devices on the right settings with one try. I frequently have to push the "help" button and go through a series of steps to get everything set right. It beats having 4 remotes, but it can get annoying. Also, for someone who is not good with technology like my wife and parents, it makes it hard to use. They always go back to the regular remotes when I'm not around. It's especially bad at getting the right setting on my soundbar for the device being used.

Worth every $ and more. So simple to set up, and if you have a lot of devices, it handles each with ease. Best of all is that it will turn on devices for what I want to do. Pick "stream a movie" with one button, instantly: Streaming device on, TV on, AV sound system on and set to how I like to watch a movie for sound with 7 speaker surround. If I push the watch Cable button next, it turns on the cable box, turns off my AV sound system and turns on the Samsung sound bar. Set up is easy. Tired of hearing how hard it is to set up. Hook up to the internet and tell them what devices you use to watch a DVD or listen to music, they handle the rest! They know all the devices. I love how it not only turns on my AV system but then picks the input and output. I have put 10 remotes in a drawer. All done for the night? Push the off button and everything is turned off. In set up the internet interface just asks you what devices you have and creates the programs for you. Fast and Easy.
