    So far so Good

Replaced a very complicated home theatre remote and it seems to work well. I have 6 devices programed into the unit and they all work. I reconfigured a second unit and it was seamless via the PC interface. This replaced many individual remotes and will be used extensively. Time will tell how long it will last. If it lasts 5 years then I would rate it the full 5 starts. We shall see.

Good Remote w/ Steep Learning Curve

This is a great controller, but it does have a steep learning curve for setting up and initial use. You will be required to download software on your computer in order to program the remote. The software isn't user friendly for the average person. It took me well over 5 hours to set up the remote for 4 devices, and I am a tech savvy person. After setup, it took additional time of trial and error to fine tune the remote to make it useful for my needs. Also, it does not work with the Roku stick as stated on the package.

But when I do, its probably because I am stuck on another Zoom conference call... I was reluctant to buy the remote because of the price and it was unclear if it had backlit keys and IR learning capability. I eventually gave in. I rationalized that none of the remotes it was replacing were backlit, and that if it couldn't learn it since its updated via an online library, so codes for nearly everything should already exist anyway. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it does have backlit keys, and it does appear to have IR learning from another remote as well, although I haven't tried that yet. I like being to switch between using it to control an activity vs a device, and nearly everything about this remote can be configured via software. Cons: Wished the specifications were more clear on Backlighting and IR Learning. I would have bought this much sooner.

I bought this because I lost my Roku remote and felt a universal remote would be better. It was a little challenging to set up with the on-line setup procedure, and it's a pain to have to go on-line to make changes, but it works. The biggest problem I have is that more often than not, I have to go through the "help" process to get all of my devices to turn ON. This remote is only 15 feet or so from the TV, cable box and Roku. Turning off works fine. Again, not a deal breaker but not ideal either.

Although setting up this device was not as easy as I had hoped, the customer support which is free for the first 90 days is excellent. I don't love the remote, but I do like having just one on my table instead of three or four. it's a little cumbersome to use in that you have to keep switching back to buttons that you didn't think you needed, and you also have to constantly respond to the question did everything turn off. Once I had assistance in programming it correctly, I found it easier to use than when I originally set it up. All in all, I think it's a good remote for the price.

    Logitech Harmony 665

Its was fairly easy to program. What I am experiencing is that you have to select each item to make changes. I would like to have the remote control everything at the same time. It may do this but I have not figured it out yet. I want the power button to turn my DirecTV, sound bar, and TV all on when I hit the power button and work together. I would probably recommend this item depending how you want to use it. I only wanted it as a TV remote.

    Fully Capable Universal Remote

Having had a previous Harmony remote for years, this Harmony 665 serves as a replacement. Setup of the Harmony 665 is simple via the online program with support for up to ten (10) devices. "Activities" are easy to create and modify as needed. I currently use the Harmony 665 to control a Sony 4k television, Apple TV, Marantz Receiver, Panasonic 4k Blu-Ray player, and cable box. The Harmony 665 communicates very well with all my devices and is fully capable of switching form activity to activity without an issues. Overall, the Harmony 665 has proven to be a worthy replacement of my previous Harmony remote.

I have owned several Harmony remotes and advised friends to get them (and help them set it up). They do take some work to set up but worth it. You add your devices to the set up program. You create activities, like watching TV. Tell which devices are used for that activity, and which inputs and outputs are used for the devices during that activity. Then, all you do to watch TV is press the 'Watch TV' button. It turns on all the devices required to watch TV, and sets the inputs and outputs. Then the buttons are assigned to the device for that operation. Like sound uses the Home Theater Receiver for volume control, and changing channels used the cable box. The only negative I've found for the Harmony remotes, is that the buttons might wear out after a few years. Even if that happens, I would still replace it with another Harmony remote.

I have been using Harmony remote since the beginning. This one was a gift to me for another purchase. I am used to programing these but it was a challenge when first started more the 10 years now. This one is pretty solid they now only use a single AA battery better that way. Currently some issues but not sure if it is the device wanting to re-set as if it did not just turn the TV and such on or it is another user in the house not doing things right. I have had no problems myself so maybe some more training..

It really is a good remote. However, I am disappointed that it 'loses' it's connection to the devices quite often when 1st hitting the button to 'link' to that device. 90% of the time, something is not 'connected'...whether it be not on the right 'output' or it doesn't turn on the TV the 1st time. It requires a couple extra steps and then it's fine. The packaging boasts that it's a 'one-touch remote', but the majority of the time that's just not true. Again, it's still a very good remote and has the ability to connect to all of my devices and would still recommend it to everyone.

The Logitech Harmony 665 remote has a very steep learning curve. This remote came as a package deal with a LG UBK90 4k blu-ray player and three Blue-ray movies. It was a very good deal even with just the disks so I cannot complain too much about the 665 because "Free is a very good price". I spent a bout 6 hour the first night getting the most basic functions of my TV, sound bar, and blue-ray player to work together. It was far, far from optimum. After a couple of weeks living with the 665 I learned how to group the needed functions together on the screen. Initially the "help" function worked, but with use it was the same errors that needed to be corrected over and over with a long iterative process it was quicker to turn the"help" off and use the screen and buttons to get where I needed to go. For some reason my Yamaha sound bar requires a second tap of the input after the TV, or blue-ray player is sending an audio signal. Assigning the digital coax input to the red button has made the extra tap easy. The single most annoying thing is the Russian Roulette input source. The 665 randomly picks one when going from Watch TV Activity to Watch a Movie Activity and back again. Taping the button near Input Next on the screen and then the Direction Up, or Down buttons for the correct input is much faster than the "help" function. Having said all that I now have one remote instead of two for changing channels and adjusting volume while watching TV. The 665 also has all the needed functions to watch blue-ray movies without yet another remote even if I have to tap a few buttons switching between the two Activities. After the first day I would have given the 665 one star. After the next two weeks, two stars. Now after a month the 665 squeaks in at three stars.

Easy set up and works well except for "activities" in that usually one of the 3-4 devices in the activity won't start up at first. Have to hit help then it will get it going but not right out of the start. Usually it is Logitechs own sound device that doesn't start up. Go figure. I would really recommend them anyway but Logitech just dumped the Harmony remotes. Will "support" them but they aren't selling them anymore, so if you buy one, realize they are a discontinued item.

This replaced my Harmony 660 after about 5 years. The 665 is identical, just offers control of more devices. Didn't need, but the price was too good to pass on. I have noticed that some keys are softer and get stuck, small annoyance for me, major for my wife. Still would buy, I would just return to get another, but COVID, well... I would give it 5 stars but for the sticky keys.

I was skeptical that any universal remote could control all 8 of my devices. Most so called "universal" remotes fall down on a few functions, forcing you to keep the original remotes around. Not this one. My former "universal" remote was the one that my cable company had supplied. It's the ONLY remote I have on my coffee table now. The programming and learning curve is steep but it's worth the reward in the end. I would strongly suggest that you don't try to set up ALL your devices and functions at once. Do the simple functions first, such as watching regular TV. Move on to more advanced functions after you've mastered the simple stuff. I kept my laptop nearby for the first week for "tweaks" that I needed to make with some commands, adding another device or two, and to throw some more challenging commands at it, which it was able to perform.

Setup was relatively easy once I got through the registration process. I’m using it to control a Pioneer Elite Plasma Tv, Denon AVR, Pioneer Elite Blu-Ray, Toshiba HD DVD Player (still works), Dish Joey (hopper), Roku Stick (still need Roku remote to do anything with it). Works real well except for an occasional glitch, mostly with turning the TV on or off, which gets corrected with the help function. In contrast, I have the Best Buy Universal remote on my other system, 4K, etc. that requires a tech to set up and make changes. The performance of the 665 compares quite favorably, although not as sophisticated. It seems as though I got one of the last 665’s, since it looks like Logitech may no longer be making it.
