The Harmony Hub is a must have device if you wanna do any type of smart home automation. Attaching a Harmony Hub to an Amazon Echo or Google Home increases their capabilities 10 fold. Allowing them to now control gaming consoles, streaming boxes, TV’s, DVD players, and more.

My old remote (same brand; different model) froze after about a year. That original model was no longer available, so I guess that others had problems with it as well. Fortunately, I had taken a protection plan for the previous remote, so I had to pay only the difference in price for the newer model. The new remote is working great, and it is so nice to have only one remote to use for all of my devices.

Solid replacement for old Harmony 900

I got this to replace a Harmony 900 I'd had for a long time that had some parts die due to a lightning strike and I enjoy it quite a bit so far. The GUI feels better to navigate on the controller's screen and the desktop/phone applications work well too. At first I preferred the desktop for setting up and modifying activities, but I've come to find that I like using the the phone app most now with the biggest reason being I can update, add, or delete activities and home controls without having to physically plug the remote in to anything. The convenience of this when you're feeling lazy and don't want to get up is not to be understated. Many of the things it can do are just like my old 900, however one of the biggest bonuses of this new remote is the ability to control more smart home settings like our Hue lights so I can have an activity set up like "Movie time" that will switch it to the Fire Stick we only use for streaming movies, set up the receiver, and turn all the lights to individual color and brightness settings or to a synched scene. What I did not know before getting the remote, however, was that you could also put a time variable in so that it only changes the lights if it is after sunset as well as the option to set the lights back to normal when switching to a different activity or turning everything in the home theater off. I prefer physical buttons to touch screens when it comes to home theater control so it is nice to have this remote compared to one that is full screen touch screen so I can feel for the volume control and adjust without having to look while watching a show or playing a game as well. I still feel like these higher end Harmony models are priced too high, which is my biggest complaint. At least with that you are getting a product that feels premium (I love the texture on the back of the remote) and controls just about anything you could want it to. Overall I'm quite happy with the purchase though and hope this lasts me at least as long as my Harmony 900 did!

I've tried many universal remotes, and always had to compromise something. most recently it was the fact that Roku uses an entirely different technology than all my other devices. I had enough juggling remotes, and this one truly replaces them all. The fact that it does home automation and can also control my thermostat is a huge plus. If you have a roku this is a must have to stop juggling remotes.

Thus far is the best Logitech Harmony remote I've had. Great feel, display, button layout, and snazzy look, and of course ease of setting up. I'm a first time user with a hub and IR mini blasters. I had some issues with signal coverage reaching my components, but that's due to lay out of my cabinetry. Overall I happy with this bad boy and with additional tweaking I just begone to scratch the surface.

I thought it was easy to set up. Controls all my devices. Bought it because objects got in the way of the other remote and had to aim around them. Not with this one because of the hub being placed near the devices. Favorites show up as their network icons so they are easy to find. Feels good in your hand and the buttons are easy to reach and in the right spot. Expensive but I think worth the money.

Remote works great and love being able to go from 3 remotes on the living room table to only one. I had some trouble at first trying to set the remote up through the Harmony App, but once I connected it to the computer and set up that route, everything worked perfect.

Being able to control your TV, consoles, thermostat and lights from the remote or phone app is incredible. The customization and feature are endless. This is the universal remote to own and don't be turned of my the price. Yeah Its a big hit in your wallet but worth every cent considering my last harmony remote lasted me over 15 years. I will let you do the math or better yet just buy it!

This remote has performed great. I only wish it had larger buttons and charters, but my vision is bad. It automatically back lights when moved. The RFI feature also is great because it will not matter if dog is in the way or something on the coffee table the equipment will still operate remotely. It freed up space on my side table and replaced 5 other remotes.

If you have the makings of a smart home with lights, outlets and alot of devices you want to control, then this remote is for you. The activity setup can be alittle tricky but once you get it dialed in to click one button and all your devices come on, lights are set to what you want, there is nothing better. Worth the price if you one remote to rule them all.

Still the best universal remote you can buy

This is my fifth purchase of a Harmony remote, and although home theater gear has been getting easier to manage overall, the options are also expanding all the time and Harmony remains the only universal remote that can be operated by everyone in the family, even if they don't have intimate knowledge of how everything is connected. It is the only option that can switch between devices seamlessly, it is the only option that keeps track of the state of every device in a home theater setup (which are turned on and which are tuned to which inputs) and it's the only option that can allow everyone in the room to have their own remote without messing things up. If you ever considered buying a Harmony remote back when you needed a computer science degree to program them, it's worth another look now. The Harmony will automatically detect any device with a WiFi or Ethernet connection to your home network, and these days that includes nearly all of them. It also detects smart devices and can be programed, for example, to automatically dim the lights when watching a movie. The smartphone-based software leads you through the setup process, asking you, for example, which device is used to control the volume, to change the channel and to switch inputs, and these can be specified by activity. So is the Elite worth paying double or more than what you pay for the Companion? I've had a Companion for a number of years and had a Smart Hub before that. Both remotes are still part of my setup, but now they are paired with the Elite hub. The Companion hub can control up to eight devices. I just added my ninth device, so it was either retire a device or expand. The biggest drawback with the Companion, however, is the limitation of having only three activity buttons to select from up to six activities. I've always had more activities than that, and so it has always been necessary to use my smartphone to initiate some of the activities. The Elite provides the best of both worlds, with the physical buttons of a regular remote and a touch screen to allow for selecting among several activities without having to remember which button to push and whether to push with a short press or a long one. The Elite also allows you to control your devices independently, whereas the other remotes do not. If you have a simple setup with a TV and a streaming device, you don't need a Harmony remote. If like me you have a TV, a home theater receiver,DVR, a Blu-Ray player and multiple streaming devices, the Harmony Elite hub-based universal remote is the best way to control it all. There are some really innovative alternatives out there, but nearly all of them still require controlling one device at a time. You may be tempted to rely entirely on a voice-based assistant such as Alexa, but do you really want to say "Alexa, please go back 15 seconds" as opposed to pushing the button for an instant replay? Some things are just easier with buttons, and with the Harmony Elite, the rewind button provides the same function, regardless of whether you're using you Roku, your Fire TV, your Blu-Ray player or your TiVo. It simplifies your life.

I got this remote after I've had great luck with the Ultimate Home Harmony remote. I'm using it in my home office now. It works great. I love the new style and cradle and the dedicated light and switch buttons. I think the price is a little high for just adding a couple of buttons.

I gave this remote a 4 star. First off I bought it right around the time Logitech announced they were no longer going to make remotes. They did announce they will still support them so even though they no longer make them, the remote will continue to work for a long time. If money doesn't matter then this is by far the best Logitech remote they made. I paid less than what it's selling for now so it's definitely too expensive. It is a little slow l, meaning when you make a change to an activity or setting on the remote it has to sync with the hub and that is slow. That's my only real complaint. If it was faster to sync and sold for half the price then it'd be 5 stars. I generally would recommend this remote however I might not recommend it for the average user for the reasons being they're expensive and they're no longer being made and even though they're still being support by Logitech the question is for how long? 3 years? 5 years? If you have a home theater or have many devices hooked up then it's great. Otherwise I'd look for another solution. I'm just not sure if they're are any other great options out at the moment for universal remotes.

Hi dw2094, we're glad to see you're from the Harmony Elite Remote! Like you said, it does have a high learning curve when it comes to setup. But if you need any assistance, Logitech has a dedicated Harmony support team that can help troubleshoot. Continue to enjoy and thank for your feedback! -N from Logitech

This remote works perfectly with all my devices, TV, Blue Ray, Direct TV DVR and Stereo, all of which are different brands. I did setup from the app on my iPad and was done in about 5 minutes. This remote can even be scheduled to turn on the TV when you want and to a specific channel. It does everything I need for my entertainment system but get me a beverage from the fridge.

I purchased this remote as part of my ongoing quest to have total home automation, and to that end, this device is the best thing out there. PROS: Alexa Integration. This is where the Harmony Hub really shines. I love telling Alexa to "Turn on Netflix," or "Turn on ESPN." Even though it's a little clunky, I've gotten used to saying, "Alexa, turn on Good Morning," and watching the room light up and the TV tuning to favorite morning news program. You can even customize the phrases associated with your activities. For example, I say, "Alexa, turn on wrestling," and it opens the WWE Network app. I'm a little annoyed that I have to disable and re-enable the Harmony skill on Alexa every time I update activities, but that's a minor inconvenience, and not really the fault of Logitech. Another boon for this device is how flexible and customizable it truly is. All of my devices can be controlled by the hub/remote, and while some features were not front/center, I am able to reprogram the remote's buttons for each device or activity so I have quick access to things like ONDemand or my Channel Guide filters. CONS: Setup. Connecting devices is easy, and if you already have a harmony account, you can import your previous activities and devices, so this should work for you right out of the box. The issues I encountered involve executing new activities. This was not flawless and required copious amounts of tweaking, particularly when trying to start Smart TV apps on my Samsung Smart TV (2014 model). The Samsung SmartHub is not designed with automation in mind. First, I had to "pin" all of my preferred apps so they lock in place when pressing the SmartHub button. Then I had to adjust (and readjust) Harmony's delay times for the Samsung TV because the remote would fire off commands faster than the TV could process them. If/When Samsung updates their SmartHub (which I hear they will roll out updates soon), it will undoubtedly impact my related activities, forcing me to tweak, tweak again. The elite remote is nice, but I always start activities with my voice, so I don't use the touchscreen very often. It's great to have so much flexibility, but I probably could've purchased the hub by itself, and been just as happy. I have to force myself to use the elite remote by itself instead of the 3 other remotes I was used to. In time, I'm sure I will adapt and grow to love it more, but there is a learning curve. Final thoughts, it's a cool piece of technology, and it's fun to wow guests by controlling my entertainment options, lights, and thermostat with my voice. If efficiency is your goal, you will probably spend more time on setup than you will save with automation.

This replaced a Logitech 890 that I've had for over 5 years. The touchscreen works great and being able to add favorite channels makes using the remote even easier. Since it uses IR blasters attached to an RF hub you don't even have to point the remote at the devices. The keypad is on the touchscreen and there are four programmable buttons. Setup was easy using my iPad.

The significance of this remote when compared to previous iterations is the face the touchscreen is at the top of the remote. It makes it much easier to use the pause play and rewind buttons. Its also great if you have nest or the VUE lightbulbs since the remote can control each one of these devices and much more depending on what brand home automation devices you have.
