Great Stylus to add to your Quest Setup

The MX Ink for Quest is a great little accessory to add to your Quest setup. It is a stylus that is compatible with Meta Quest 2, 3, and 3s. It features a pressure sensitive tip and main button, 7 hours of battery life, MX Inkwell charging stand, and seamless pairing with Meta Quest headset. To begin, setup of the stylus was as simple as pairing a new controller. You just turn everything on, and then go into the quest companion app on your phone and select pair new controller. Simple as that. Once it is paired, it behaves just like a controller, it detects when you pick it up and automatically connects. The headset knows that you are using the pen, so in your view, you see a digital representation of the pen in your hand. The feel of the stylus in your hand is very nice and comfortable. It feels very natural, just like a regular pen. The buttons are nice and easy to get to. There are 4 buttons total, one pressure sensitive main button, two additional buttons above and below that, and a Meta Quest button at the top of the stylus that acts the same as the Meta Quest button on the controllers. It all works very seamless and natural together. I tested the MX Ink with a Meta Quest 2 headset. I don't have a 3 or 3s, so I was unable to test mixed reality use, but what I was able to test, I was very impressed with. The stylus seemed to be very precise and responsive. And the addition of the pressure sensitive button allows you to control your drawing even when drawing in the air in 3D space. Overall I was just very impressed with the performance. It works exactly as you would expect with little to no learning curve. In conclusion, I think the MX Ink for Meta Quest is a must-have accessory to add to any Quest setup. It is a simple, intuitive accessory, but also precise and functional. Highly recommended.

A space stylus that I didn’t know I’d love

I’ve had my Quest 3 for about a year. My main interface has been the dual controllers you get in the box. Overall a great experience, but one that is specific to certain applications, like gaming. I love rocking to Beat Saber! So when I discovered that Logi created the MX Ink I was intrigued. I didn’t at first know how this would interface with my headset, what the experience would bring beyond the controllers. And it may seem obvious (haha) but I wanted to know how it might feel like a pen or stylus. Well, it was super easy to pair, just holding down the end button and the phone Meta Horizon app finds it, pairs it, and your off to the races. Inside the headset, you see an outline of the Ink and your hand, and when begin pointing, like a cursor or stylus, it tracks just like your controllers. Except you are holding it like a pen. This brings a couple new experiences for me. one it feels more precise when selecting things. The controllers are alright, but this just feels more natural. Second, I haven’t used it much for actual writing, but it does feel interesting to write with it, in a good way. I didn’t think I would like a pen-like device for Mixed Reality but honestly the MX Ink has shown me a space stylus can be a great thing! It comes with a charging base that stands it vertically, but there is also a USB-C port on the Ink itself that will charge it. There is a forward, middle, and back button where you hold it between your finger and thumb, and a Meta button on the back end for easy menu access. Logi really thought through the nature of this tool and I really like it.

I have owned my Meta Quest 3 for a little over a year and have really enjoyed the VR experience. Up until now, I have not tried any apps which could benefit from using a VR pen, but this Logitech MX ink pen gave many reasons to test these apps out.
The pen is easy to pair to the VR headset, but I had to go through a few menus to add a controller (this pen). The pen can either be charged using a USB-C cable plugged directly into the pen or placing it in the charging dock. Meta already has this device in the settings and many options to tweak it to your needs. With that said, Logitech provides a couple extra nibs for bulky or fine lines.
The pen can replace either the left or right controller, depending on if you are using the pen left or right-handed. The pen, at first, seemed bulky but was lightweight and felt comfortable to use. During, use I found my hand getting tired from holding it in the air while making small details.
I found about 10 apps which can give you the most use from this MX ink pen, and a few of them are free. One of the apps I considered purchasing allowed the user to “paint” a 3D image which could be sent to a 3D printer. I currently do not own a 3D printer but am excited to test this out.
The battery life is amazing and outlasts my VR headset’s battery, so I have no idea how long the battery lasts from my experience.
If you are an inspiring artist but do not want to mess with paints and supplies, this pen would be perfect. If you are more for action apps, then this may not be for you.

The Logitec MX Ink + Inkwell is a must have accessory for Quest 2/3/3S owners who are looking to elevate their mixed reality (MR) art sessions.
After pairing the MX Ink, you will see it is tracked and even has a nice overlay inside the Quest. I like how you can navigate and use the stylus within Horizon OS in lieu of controllers. I found it to be a very natural way to navigate but was disappointed that many painting VR apps still require a controller before launching even though the stylus + hand tracking would be far more intuitive. Using apps such as Vermillion with the MX Ink was great upgrade from the touch controllers, allowing more control and natural movements.
The on-board haptics provide decent feedback and a sense of realism when the virtual brush interacts with the canvas or objects. The 3 buttons provide not only navigation and interaction but the center “button” is pressure sensitive and can be utilized in apps to estimate pressure in your virtual space to make brush strokes or line bigger. It is a really thoughtful product that currently has a nice assortment of adoption in creative apps and is a really a nice improvement over the controllers.
Outside of this, the support is limited to Meta embedded apps such as the browser though I could see many more developers utilizing the unique accessory. The MX Ink is perfect for those virtual artists looking for a more realistic experience and greater control in VR/MR, that the controllers lacked.

Perfect Stylus for what I needed

Logitech - MX Ink Mixed-Reality (MR) Stylus is an absolute game changer for productivity when using the Meta Quest 3. However here is the kicker, if this is your first Meta Quest Headset, then follow the instructions to the "T" when trying to pair this device. Otherwise, you will spend countless minutes trying to pair it on the headset when all that is needed, is to utilize your phone, and boom, it's paired in a matter of seconds. However, once it is paired, it works like a charm. It is so easy to use especially when using a web browser, or using productivity-style applications. It makes for precise drawing and likewise style applications. Another wonderful thing is the super long battery life, along with the charging dock, which is super sleek and stylish.
Overall, I am very happy with the performance of the stylus with Meta Quest 3 and its use and the ability to use it on multiple applications throughout my library. There are so many uses for this stylus and it's very sturdy. The stylus does make life a little easier when utilizing the productivity / artistic applications with the Meta Quest 3.

It's a prettty fun accessory for your MetaQuest, I had a fun playing around with the features and virtual reality effect of all your drawings. The 3D effect your drawings have when immersed with the reality from the metaquest goggles is real trippy. I just played around with drawing, shapes, tracing designs...openbrush and shapes. I also used it to select, drag and drop in my other games.
It has comfortable feel when i hoild it, it's a little heavier than i would have liked especially when you are using for hours. The battery life is good, i havent had to charge during any session but i don't go over 2-3hrs. I do plan on getting some 3d sculpting software to play around with the fine drawing details this virtual pen is capable of.
The setup was extremely simple, getting used to the responsiveness when drawing in the air does take some getting used to but it gets easier after each use. Overall a well built accessory that will provide alot of immersive entertainment with your MetaQuest.

Great to trace with

Ok so first things first, I am no artist. My couple gripes that I do have and why 3 stars. First no USB charging cord is provided. They give you a nice dock station if you get the model that comes with on, but no cord. Logitech does not have their own app for using this. I am not sure if it would have been possible, but I would personally have liked a way to connect this without the use of the mobile app. Also, I noticed that drawing or writing if doing a bit fast and, on a surface, when I would lift the pin, it would have a little pen ink bleed happen. So, if you draw a circle for instance, when you lift the pen, it will still draw a little if you go fast. So, if you are trying to take notes and have to write fast, it will look sloppy. That said, if you take your time and go slow, it seems to improve then.
With that, because I am not an artist, I did like that you could use this to trace things. So, if you are like me, this may be useful if you have to trace something instead of having to do the old school ways like a thinner paper that you can see thru, or projector onto a paper, you can just use this and trace.
The battery life is about 7 hours, however, if using haptics, then that gets cut down to about 3 hours.
If you are not into drawing, I would not recommend this than. However, if you do enjoy drawing, especially in 3d, I do recommend getting this to have. The dock station is not a must have but I recommend if you do get this, to get it with the dock station. I found myself not charging this a lot when I did not have the dock station around. I would just set the pen down. With the dock station, I found myself placing this in the dock when I was not using it.
I do have to admit that it was a lot more fun to use as time went by and as I got more used to it. It does have some basic functions that the controllers have so if you need to do a few things that are not drawing you can use this. It also connects at the same time with both controllers as well.

This is a really nice stylus. Right out of the box it was actually already mostly charged so only needed around 10 min. to top it off.
Syncing to my Quest 3 was pretty easy, although I hate them constantly making me use my phone app to do things. Why can’t I just use the VR headset itself?
The controls were a bit confusing at first since its just a few buttons without much explanation as to which controller options they are an alternative for, but I had it all figured out in only a min or two.
The only thing that I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t have all the buttons a regular controller would have so if I am using it for something and then want to switch programs quickly to do something else, I have to go and grab the regular controller. The biggest thing its missing is the joystick, which makes some controls in other programs extra hard to do.
I wish there was a way to make it more compatible with other programs, but its supposed to be a specialty controller so that’s a bit to be expected.
The other big problem is that most programs don’t really even want to use a stylus. I tried a program for VR drawing in 3d that was a bit fun, but not as practical for most purposes and it’s still more cutting edge experimentation.
Overall a good controller for some specialty work / programs but not really for the masses yet, just because there aren’t really a lot of great uses for it developed.

This stylus from Logitech is pretty good! I want to make it clear that I only use my Meta Quest for entertainment purposes so I haven't used this stylus for workflow or as an aid with presentations and the sort. That said, I do think it's quite the fun little accessory for the Meta Quest. There is no noticeable lag when using it and it will outlast the Quest on one charge so you won't find it frustrating to use. It is also comfortable to hold. I had no issues using it for a couple of hours.
I found using the stylus to paint or practice drawing through augmented reality extremely fun and relaxing. It genuinely feels like your gestures are being read to a T. I also feel like there's a whole other world of use cases that I will get to experience the more I use it. That said, it seems like this would be the best accessory for improving hand-eye coordination and dexterity in children. It's so fun and immersive; it's like playing video games while helping them improve their skills.
Overall, I'd say this is a great accessory for the Meta Quest and can def improve your experience!

Nice, but inconsistent

Setup
The setup process was not entirely intuitive. It does require the headset, stylus and the app on your phone in order to connect the stylus via Bluetooth. This proved challenging for our son and required parent intervention to setup. Overall, the process took about 15 minutes. Once completed, the connection was pretty consistent.
Usability
The stylus is relatively easy to use and is helpful as part of the gaming experience. We were able to consistently use it moving up and down, however when moving it around it would freeze sometimes. The cursor would sometimes get lost and we would have to repeat the action several times to get it to move. Another challenge we experienced was that the cursor would get stuck behind something. It makes me think of PowerPoint when you have two overlapping shapes or images and you have to send things to the front or send things to the back in order to get to the item you are trying to work with to move it. This was the struggle.
Charging
The stylus held it's charge really well and recharged relatively quickly. The small charging station would be great for just dropping the stylus in to connect for a recharge, however it was unclear if the device was actually charging successfully. The light that tells you it is charging, appears when you click the button, so it is not actually clear if you are connected. We preferred using the cord itself to charge it to ensure that we were actually charging it.
Overall, we liked the stylus and it makes a good backup controller however I wouldn't use it as our primary device. We prefer using the base controllers over the use of this stylus when playing games on the Meta Quest 2.

Logitech MX Ink Mixed-Reality (MR) Stylus Wireless Pen Controller for Meta Quest is a nice accessory for any Quest owner, including Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest 3s. Inside the box, you get tips, a charging dock, and very straightforward, simple installation instructions. That process was straightforward.
It can be used as an air accessory on a tabletop to trace, which makes it cool when you're trying to transfer a graphic to your virtual world. Although it's in this early stage of functionality, which means it may have some limitations or bugs, it still boasts excellent performance.
The Logitech MX Ink Stylus is not just a tool; it's an extension of your creativity. Its precise and responsive tip ensures that your brush strokes in the virtual world are as natural as those of a real pencil or pen. With interactive buttons at the front, a Meta button at the top, and a library of apps at your disposal, the possibilities for creative expression are limitless.
If you want to have fun with your Quest headset while being creative, I recommend the Mx Stylus.

Logitech MX Ink works pretty well. It paired quickly with my Meta Quest 3 and shows as a Logitech stylus on the screen. The battery life is really good, I haven't had to recharge it yet. The Ink feels ergonomic but my hand did start to cramp a little after about 30min. I think some of my perspective might be due to the apps I used and maybe it works better with others. I tried out the free apps; Open Brush, MetaBrush, and Gravity Sketch.
There was a lot of enjoyment using effects like snow and neon lights in AR around the room and in VR scenes. The kids enjoyed making things in AR. Everything was very intuitive and fluid when using it with the other hand controller. But outside of goofing around I found it difficult to create something detailed. There was no way for me to transfer something from 2D to 3D like Logitech advertises. I tried to trace my drawing so it could be in VR and enhanced. The pressure sensitivity of the stylus was good however the tip did not line up with the actual tip of the stylus so tracing was difficult. Also the fidelity was not there to get details. I was just tracing a simple character and I couldn't get it to do something as small and simple as putting black dots in for the eyes. At least I didn't notice any delay when using it.
I don't know if some of these issues were with the apps or this stylus but the internet recommended these as good apps to use. I wasn't designing anything in 3D space but I don't see how you could. It comes with 2 additional different stylus tips but I wasn't sure why you'd need different tips and there's also no where to keep them. I was extremely disappointed that nowhere on the stylus or in the base was a place to store the extra tips. I'm not sure if I have a mix of inexperience and user error or if there's a better stylus. But if you're just trying to have fun in open space and not design something with the details of the real world, then this will do just fine.

VR Stylus for Specific Mixed Reality Usefulness

One of the brands I always think of when looking for home computing or gaming peripherals and accessories, is Logitech. The brand is known for quality and performance. Having recently upgraded my previous Oculus Quest VR headset to the Meta Quest 3S, I was interested in giving this stylus a try.
Adding the device as a 'secondary' controller in the Meta Horizon app's settings, was a simple enough task. The controls on the stylus itself are pretty basic. There are two spare tips included, along with a handy docking charging stand. Both the charging dock and stylus have a USB-C charging port, so you can choose which is more convenient.
While my experience using this stylus was fine, I came away unimpressed. Holding the stylus properly took a little practice, and the "promised" precision during my VR sessions, could have been a bit better, in my opinion. Not that the MX Ink MR Stylus isn't a good device. It is. The Logitech quality I have come to expect, was there. But for the price this stylus goes for, and the limited VR applications that it was designed to be used for, I'd only recommend it for those with a specific need for this particular type of device.
Basically, I'd consider this Logitech MX Ink Mixed Reality Stylus for Meta Quest to be a "niche" device, useful for select games and/or applications. While for me this stylus will not be replacing the handheld controllers which came with my Meta Quest 3S, I will continue to use it for artistic style applications.
