Great for typing as a laptop, poor as a tablet

I love Logitech products, especially their G-series gaming line of products, but I'm afraid they've missed the mark with the "Slim Folio" keyboard for iPad Air. Unfortunately this product really misses the mark in turning something thin, light, and portable and making it rather clunky and unwieldy. This really has nothing to do with the build quality, which is excellent, but more about the size and execution of the cover. For positives, it is well built, the keyboard and cover are both high quality and will undoubtedly protect your iPad from damage. The built in keyboard mode and magnets work well and everything latches nicely and the stand holds the iPad well when typing. Once it latches the keyboard comes to life instantly. Batteries are easily replaced and hidden well, I had to look for them. For negatives, the keyboard is just way too big when you try to fold it back into tablet mode, and it doesn't LOCK into place. You kind of just have to hold it like a sandwich which quickly becomes cumbersome and fatiguing. Contrary to some other reviews, you can fold it behind the iPad without exposing the keys backward, you just fold the keys toward the body of the iPad and it works just fine, but it is still clunky. Overall, I think Apple's official 11" cover for iPad Pro is a better combination of laptop and tablet mode because it is thinner and magnet snaps into place. It costs a lot more but it retains the premium and sleek feel of the iPad, while this makes it more into a laptop.

Upon taking it out of the box, I immediately noticed the quality of the keyboard and case. This is a rather sturdy and resistant-looking case. It is made of hard plastic with a rubber-like layer on top, which adds good grip and traction. The iPad snaps securely in place and fits snuggly. The rubber layer wraps around the bottom for added stability and protection. This makes the iPad a bit more than twice its original girth. Still, it remains fairly compact. Logitech claims water repellency, but I will have to take their word for it. Regardless, I do believe my iPad will be well protected and provide some good piece of mind. The Slim Folio pairs with the iPad via Bluetooth easily. The cover closes magnetically and activates the wake/sleep function with no hiccups. There is a holder on top that will keep a digital pen in place, which comes greatly appreciated. I did notice that the Apple Pencil fits a bit loosely, and the Logitech Crayon is a bit on the tighter side. All inputs, cameras, speakers, and microphones are not obstructed. The keyboard is compact and does not extend too far out, which reduces the iPad’s footprint. However, this makes placing the iPad on the lap a bit awkward and unstable at times in my experience. While it certainly changes the “look” of the tablet, I think it is definitely a good-looking case. Although the keyboard does have full-size keys, they can be a bit too close to each other for some and may take some time getting used to. One must remember that this keyboard is designed for a 10.5 in. tablet. Typing on this keyboard is a joy as the keys have excellent travel, are quiet, and very satisfying to press with no discernible lag. The iOS shortcut keys on top are very useful. The keyboard’s battery can last up to 4 years, according to Logitech. One big drawback is that there’s no backlight, so it must be used mostly under good lighting conditions. Unfortunately, the Slim Folio has a very limited range when it comes to positioning and viewing angles. For typing, the case attaches magnetically, providing only a 45˚ angle. Again, this can be an issue when using it on your lap and repositioning the screen is needed. The case lays down completely for sketching and note-taking. I found no issue with this and using the digital pen in this position is comfortable for me. In this mode, the device can be used as a traditional tablet. This is another problem for me as the whole setup weighs over 2 lbs., is twice the width, which can make holding the tablet rather uncomfortable to hold in one hand without resting. I tended to use both hands. I do wish the keyboard was detachable, but that would have added to the price point. This is kind of a letdown in my opinion because it makes being mobile a bit difficult as I like to walk around while reading. In the end, I would still recommend the Slim Folio. Yes, there are some issues when it comes to versatility, ergonomics, and backlighting. However, the case will definitely keep your device and pencil (if you have one) well protected and right where is needed, the keyboard feels amazing, and all of this brings the iPad closer to an actual laptop experience. And at this price, it is certainly a great value.

I’ve tested various ancillary keyboard products, but this one so far tops them all. Despite Apple’s claims that the iPad is capable of replacing a fully functional laptop, I’ve not experienced the feeling, ... until now. Logitech is a brand that continues to climb itself the quality and now, premium quality. This Slim Folio Keyboard is super easy to setup. This is due largely to the lack of any Bluetooth pairing process thanks to the Smart Connector; - just snap the iPad 10.5 into the perfectly fit cradle, flip the bottom to the magnetic smart connector, enter the code the first time, and viola, instant success. It just works. Has an almost Apple like quality by it’s simplicity. PROS + Solid construction feels very much like a real laptop + works with 10.5” iPad Air and 2017 iPad Pro + button cutouts are perfectly placed (vol, camera, lock, lightning port and smart connector) + Strong Magnetic grip feels super sturdy + <Control-Space> pulls up Emoji keyboard + short cut keys for quick access to brightness, play controls, volume, etc + magnetic disconnect triggers on-screen keyboard and deactivates accidentally clicked keys + no-pairing process thanks to Smart Connect + fold over protection of the iPad + Apple Pencil slipper pocket CONS -space bar does not wake up iPad if locked (requires Finger ID) -fixed screen angle, prefer adjustable -no backlit keys like Brydge offers -smaller keys take getting used to (suited for smaller hands)   -no trackpad, would make this product awesome -vertical apps require folding the keyboard back to use iPad (pictured) Conclusion : This is by far the most impressed that I've ever been with any product from Logitech..., and that's saying something.

i am really enjoying my new iPad case! It is smooth, functional and feels very solid as most Logitech products are. Right out of the box setup is very easy. You remove the battery tab to allow it to turn on. You push the sync button and go into your iPad settings and connect it. That's it. You then lock the iPad into place and it automatically lets you start typing using the keys. When it is not "clicked" in the keys don't work so it lets you use it as a normal folding case. Very clever. It also has an Apple Pencil holder. This is very nice because there is no other way i was able to easily store my pencil with my iPad. When you are done using the keyboard and you want to put away the iPad you snap it closed and it feels very nice. It is closed shut very tight and there is never any worry that the iPad will get damaged. It also works with my glass screen protector with no issues. Perfect fit. When I am using this case my iPad now feels complete. I feel like I am getting the most professional use with my iPad and pencil storage. I open it up and type up emails with the keyboard. Everyone who sees me gets very jealous watching me use it. I am very happy with this case!

Although the unit that I initially ordered was for the 3rd Generation iPad Air, I had to return it for the 7th Generation which is the iPad that I had just bought. Apparently the 7th Gen was just a teeny bit to large to snap into place. But the 7th Gen version fit like a charm. Fortunately Best Buy made it easy. I had to wait in line suitably socially distanced (we were still under Covid restrictions), but the clerk took my return and came back with the proper unit and I was on my way. I like that the keyboard and iPad protector are so well integrated. Once I got the iPad to recognize the bluetooth connection, I was home free. The sleek iPads really do need protection and the clamshell keyboard does that just fine. I presume it will hold up well although dropping it is probably not a great idea. And the functionality of the keyboard expands hugely the utility of the iPad. A nice touch is the loop to hold a digital pen. Apple's keyboard was on sale at the time I purchased this one, so the two were priced about the same. But with Apple's product you would still need a protective cover, so the Logitech product is still the better deal.

At first I bought one of the Apple magnetic keyboards. The Apple keyboard didn’t protect the backside of the iPad so I returned it. This Logitech case is more substantial protection. It covers the front and back of the iPad. The magnet feature that holds the iPad up is very strong. I like the feel of the keys and how they respond when I type. My only wish is that i was easier to fold the keyboard behind the iPad so I could write on the iPad with the iPad Pencil more easily. This is just kind of clunky. Otherwise I’m really pleased with this purchase. I’ve been buying Logitech for a long time and this product is just as quality as any other I’ve owned.

Well first of all when setting up let me save you some time. Place iPad in case, pull the yellow battery tab on keyboard to activate battery, then open up bluetooth setting in ipad, then place the iPad into the cradle position on keyboard folded as seen in product picture, then the pairing starts. Select the keyboard on bluetooth screen on the iPad, and then enter the number on the screen using the keyboard numbers and press the enter key on the keyboard and the pairing will occur. The keyboard will only turn on when the table is cradled onto the keyboard. Other then that the keyboard is a great buy considering the magic keyboard is $300,00. It also functions as a protective case. I should have gotten a trackpad keyboard but this will do just fine.

wanted a light yet protective case for my latest iPadAir3 (the last model to sport the physical HOME button) that also had a nice backlit keyboard, Logitech has found A perfect balance battery life an style (while still keeping the overall weight down) + it has a slot for your preferred stylus, you will definitely wanna get this for your iPadAir3, after having a keyboard you just can't see going back to not having one, increases productivity 10x

I bought another keyboard and case when I got my IPad, but they were not near the quality of this ensemble. The other set was flimsy and heavier. This one is lightweight, and the magnet that holds the pad up while I use the keypad is quite powerful; no slippage at all. I've never regretted a Logitech purchase. Not gonna start now! Don't waste time and money looking for another one; this is all you'll need!

This keyboard is amazing! It feels satisfying to type on and it is very sturdy. I love how the iPad clicks into place magnetically. It stays upright the entire time. I’ve been using it for nearly a month now and it’s still working just fine. The case is protective albeit a little plain, but nothing that stickers can’t fix.

I’ve only been using it for a few days, but from the reviews I’ve read of other keyboards’ functionality, this seems like the best choice for me. Today I noticed a peculiar flaw: In Spanish-mode the alt keys are messed up; at least the “?” and “_” are reversed. I just tried some other alt keys in Spanish and they aren’t reversed, but asterisk is left paren, etc. I only use Spanish for the tildes and accents, so it’s not problematic for me. I’ll mention this to Best Buy and/or Logitech. Maybe I’m mistaken and doing something wrong regarding this apparent shortcoming. Overall, this seems to be a well-constructed, aesthetically-appealing keyboard/protective case and the keys have a nice touch.

I’ve had this case for over a year now, and it still works great. The keyboard is clicky and responsive, I’ve never had an issue pairing it with the IPad, and really it is all you need if you don’t want to spend the extra money for an apple brand case/keyboard combination. The little rubber strip has worn off that lays between the keyboard and the area below the space bar, but that has not affected the quality and security of the case at all. When you do need to take it out of the keyboard case, its also very easy, and always feels sturdy to put back into place.

I bought this keyboard primarily because I am a student and do a lot of paperwork on my iPad so I needed something outside of typing on the screen itself this folio wound up to be the best accessory for the iPad itself not only did it provide a really great amazing case but also the keyboard.I would absolutely recommend this case folio for their iPad. It instantly goes on as soon as you attach the magnetic clasp to the keyboard so no hassle of having to connect to Bluetooth and going into settings which I liked.
