Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones top-line an outstanding cast in this epic-proportioned western which should have been worthy of a cinematic release for it captures beautifully the look, the feel and the time of the Old West as never before. I usually shun mini-series. Usually long and boring. Lonesome Dove is anything but. It's one of the most realistic, best character driven films ever made.

This miniseries features some of the best actors of all time: Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Angelica Huston, in a classic western story that stands up to the test of time.

How can you go wrong with Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones? Throw in Angelica Huston, and you have a true classic!

Old classic! Saw this movie when I was in college, over 20 years ago. Still a fan!

Robert Duvall is perfect for this film. He carries it from start to finish.

I got this for my Brothers birthday, he loves westerns.

Jones and Duvall both make fine cowboys, but it takes a serious breed of actor to portray a Texas Ranger. They did a fine job at it too and made a great movie at the same time. The movie is packed to the limit with adventure and action, but it has plenty of sad stories in it as well. It has two disks, but it's all one movie and probably among the best movies I have ever seen. I'd highly recomend this film to anyone! It's got some '' questionable " adult humor and language, but nothing extreme. It also has some violence in it as well, but still nothing extreme or gory. I'd probably best rate this a family movie more than anything though.

Duvall and Jones give arguably their best performances in what is the best Western I've ever seen. While technically a miniseries, it feels like a six-hour long movie that never gets dull. Lonesome Dove is an epic portrayal of the Old West and a must own for fans of Westerns and fans of film in general.

One of the best, if not the best Western ever made for TV.
