Not a film for everyone, but for those who love the dark-side of metal history, Lords of Chaos delivers in spades. Based on the book, this on-and-off factual retelling of the history of infamous Norwegian black metal outfit, Mayhem, is a shocking, brutal, scary, heartfelt, and at-times, darkly hilarious journey. Led by fantastic performances by Rory Culkin, Emory Cohen, and Jack Kilmer, this is a true-shocking tale of darkness, sadness, violence, and the darkest side rock and roll had to offer.

I love metal and have always been intrigued by the story of Mayhem! I love that someone finally made a movie about the band and the scene in Norway at the time with all the church burnings and other dark things going on. A true piece of metal history. The movie was well done and highly recommended for any metal fan.

This movie is pretty ok up until the end but some of the characters were poorly portrayed.

This movie is more loosely based than exact when presenting the story of the Black Metal band Mayhem, but that usually happens in films. Acting was pretty good & the story flowed well without any bad spots in the film. Nice cinema photography. Setting/clothes were pretty much accurate for its timeframe in the early 90s. Dead was my favorite band member and was greatly portrayed well in the film. I found it funny how this film is based Oslo, Norway, yet nobody uses an accent in the movie. It's a sad & tragic tale of two band members having conflict resulting in one murdering the other, under foolish circumstances. Quality of film I'll say is up there with "Sid & Nancy". Overall, it's quite entertaining & fans or just the curious should enjoy watching film....
