Great system, for the most part

I am really quite pleased with the Lorex - 2K QHD WIRE-FREE SECURITY SYSTEM. It does exactly what it is supposed to do.
For me, one of the first "tests" of a quality product is in the way it is packaged. Lorex deserves kudos for top-notch superior packaging. They took the time and effort to make sure it presented a quality representation of its product.
The unit comes with two cameras, a base station, and the cords and batteries necessary for installation. The install was a tad bit sketchy. The included instructions are lacking in contextual directions, meaning there are some things left to figure out on your own. Nothing catastrophic, mind you, but enough to make for a mildly stressful install. This was most notable in the setup of the hub and cameras to the wifi. The rest of the instructions were quite complete.
The app that is downloaded is perfect. It is simple, intuitive, and actually works away from the house, unlike another brand I won't mention. The app allows for full control of the cameras, with voice options, and sound options, and even allows you to switch between standard resolution mode and high definition mode.
The cameras include rechargeable batteries and the necessary cords to recharge them. Some may see this as a negative, but this is a WIRELESS system, and therefore does not have power cords...otherwise it wouldn't be wireless. This does raise a concern or two, seeing that this will necessitate monitoring of power levels. But that is simply the price we pay for wireless.
After the initial setup, it was time to actually install the cameras. It is a very good idea to make sure the hub is placed in a location that is central to the installed cameras, otherwise you might run into some reception issues. Again, the instructions were not overly informative on how to actually assemble the base to the mounting bracket, but after a few moments of tinkering around, I discovered that once the base of the camera is attached to the mounting plate, you must actually slide the base downward till you feel it secure itself.
After deciding where I wanted to mount the two cameras, and getting them secured and tested for signal strength, it was time to put the system to the test.
The motion detection is quite good and sensitive. It picks up activity from my driveway. I have the other camera in the rear of the house inside, and like almost all other systems, it will not detect motion through windows. So no demerits there. Anytime it detects motion, a message is sent to my phone, and I am able to open the app and see what it happening. The app on my phone works great with both wifi and cellular.
The speaker quality is very good, and is crisp and clear. The microphone is very good as well.
I would say the picture quality is mostly good on the higher definition settings but somewhat marginal on the lower setting.
The Lorex Voice Assistant, for me, is unnecessary in view of the more-than-adequate app. All-in-all, I would highly recommend this product to anyone needing a good, basic home security system.
PROS
Simplicity!
Good video, speaker and microphone
Ease of use with the Lorex app (A huge plus!)
The ability to add as many cameras as you need.
The motion detection capabilities are very good
Rechargeable batteries.
CONS
There is a somewhat limited mounting system which could make for some camera placement issues for some applications.
There is a lack of full-complete installation instructions.
This is not a system designed for larger homes unless you have a wifi extender.
Again, in spite of the minor cons, this is a system I would highly recommend.

Great Upgrade From 1080p Lorex Wire-Free System

A couple years ago I had purchased a Lorex 1080p Wire-Free system with 4 cameras. That system needed setup using a mouse and records to micro SD card while displaying to a TV or monitor over HDMI. So I am familiar with the Lorex Wire-Free system & when I had the opportunity to try this new 2K system by Lorex I was happy to do so! Oh and I have a wired system from a competing vendor as well at our home.
Packaging
The packaging of this Lorex 2K system is really nice. They put a lot of things into a pretty small box. It is about the size of a subwoofer for a home theater system. However, the items inside the box are pretty small. I did have one insert/piece that looked like it held something but there was nothing there, so I was perplexed for a moment but I inventoried everything that came and it appears everything made it into the box & packaging.
Overall Design
The NVR/DVR of this system is about the size of a Google Home. The cameras are battery operated & Wi-Fi enabled so the system operates totally wire-free in that regard. Of course the NVR/DVR does need a power source & has a micro SD card preinstalled. Included is the wall mounting pieces, a couple of stickers to act as a guide for mounting the pieces to the wall & of course 2 wall to USB adapters as well as the USB cable to power the NVR/DVR for the cameras. It includes 2 of the cables & wall adapters so that you can charge 1 camera while using the other for the Home-looking storage device.
Setup
Now if you are like me you have spare wall to USB adapters. I used a spare and was keeping the 2 included ones for the cameras. I read in the instructions that the base (Home-looking recorder) should chime and the LED should flash green when it boots allowing you to pair it with your phone. I was not experiencing that so attempted to reset it multiple times to no avail. I also couldn't get it to work with my Lorex app I had for my old system. I emailed my contact at Best Buy who manages the Tech Insider Network who gave me the email for our Lorex contact. In between sending both of those emails & receiving the response (which was super fast) I happened to check the wall adapters to spot the differences...volts were the same but amperage was different. My spare I was using was just a fraction of the included amperage. Oops! I immediately emailed stating I found the problem, what it was in case someone else had the issue. I replaced the wall adapter and I heard the chime & saw the flashing green LED! Great! Open my old Lorex app again, scanned the QR code on the bottom of the Lorex base but it wouldn't add to the app and was giving me an error about the Device ID being invalid! What the heck! I finally scanned the QR code in for the app in the manual & it took me to the Apple App Store to download a new & different Lorex Home app. Again, oops! It would have been nice to know it was different than the previously released app that I was using but that is OK.
Once I had the correct wall adapter & Lorex App the setup was a breeze! I signed in & set up my base as a wireless base instead of running ethernet to the router. It sits next to the router but with open LAN ports limited to only 4 and all 4 already in use for other security camera systems as well as my desktop gaming PC I wanted to just have it operate over Wi-Fi. Setup and adding to the app are super easy.
App Setup & Testing
I did some testing with one of my sons. The app defaults to 1080p viewing & recording instead of 1440p or 2K. Which is kind of weird for a system touted as being 2K but easy to change. I enabled 2-way audio and set up my home radius so that it would only notify me once we were outside of that radius I set up. I did this because while there was only two of us at home at the time I was getting a lot of push notifications. That too was easy to make happen. The set up and use is super easy & intuitive.
Also the app allows you to set the cameras into privacy mode so that so that it doesn't record audio or video. I wish there was a way to automate this but I haven't found that ability yet. Also, setting a schedule for on/off of the privacy mode would be great too. Again, I haven't found that yet.
As I previously said, I enabled the 2-way audio and tested it out by talking back and forth. Of course there is a slight lag but it is to be expected. The image quality is crisp, the audio is clear & the LED light is nice & bright! The night mode is clear too at 2K and even 1080p.
Closing Thoughts
I am a believer in Lorex & their products. The build quality is great & everything is pretty intuitive. The fact that it is totally wire-free with no monthly cost is and will always be the selling point for me. I love the Lorex products so much that I was asked for camera recommendations from 2 family members not long after my first Lorex system purchase. I gave each of them the link to purchase one like my original system & they did. I went over to help each of them set everything up & while theirs appeared to be a different revision (camera batteries appeared maybe updated? or somehow changed) but again, set up was easy then too. I will now be recommending this 2K system to my friends & family.
I only wish it came with more cameras. I know it would raise the price of the system but I feel it would be well worth it. I am on the fence on if I will be purchasing more of the cameras compatible with this system or if I will wait for Lorex to update their wire-free solutions to 4K. When I go to upgrade I know I will go for the Lorex 4K or 8K wire-free system as it has not let me down any time I have personally used the system or recommended it to family & friends!
If you want great image quality, great build quality, easy to use & no monthly fee then this is most definitely the camera system solution for you!

The initial setup for this wireless camera system was quick, easy, and straightforward. It reminded me of setting up any modern wireless device through a phone app. Google, amazon, NEST, and Ring devices all have similar set up to these cameras. I installed the app on my phone, registered an account, and set up the base station within a couple minutes. Adding a wireless camera was as simple as hitting a button and waiting for it to show up in the app. Total set up time was about 5 minutes, very good job. I currently have a camera set up in my garage, and have motion detection, human detection, and alerts set up so I know whenever anybody walks into my garage. The camera has great 1440p resolution, and impressive night vision. Definitely worthwhile for peace of mind when I am away from home!
