Hard Drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.March 2016 I purchased it, worked for 10 months and certain things started happening. Not able to record, not over writing the video, ran out of recording space. Beeps all the time when I have the sensors on No beep. Now I can't even watch my home because the password is incorrect and won't let me log in. I've never changed it. I contact customer support for the first issue, no one called back, I had to keep calling. Do no buy. I will be calling them again for new box.

Not for a business out door use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Would have had to drill through cement walls to install. Has to be plugged in, and wires are way to short. Would not recommend.

Check your plugin outlets location first
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was told that this was totally wireless it's not each camera has to be plugged into a outlet so make sure that you have access to four outlets within about 8 to 10 feet of were you want the camera

Posted .Thank you for your feedback. Yes our wireless cameras require a connection to a reliable power source but do not require hard wiring throughout your property.

Don't waste money on this camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture quality was absolutely terrible. I wouldn't pay 20$ for a camera with this quality let alone several hundred. Video had lag. Cameras feel cheap compared to others on the market. Rather difficult to set up compared to others on the market.

Great system with easy setup (no manual provided).
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DVR installation and setup is simple. The cameras come already paired (#1 - #4). Just plug them in to see which window they come up in on your monitor so you know where you want to install each camera based on what you want viewed in each window. The difficulty comes with installing the cameras: First, the shape of the adapter where it plugs into the outlet is long and the prongs seem to be opposite of what they need to be for an outside outlet. I understand why they do it (so when plugged in it won't cover both outlets). However, my house has weatherproof boxes over the outside outlets and I had to cut a significant portion off the bottom of the weatherproof box to be able to plug the adapter in. Lorex, please make a standard adapter that won't cover both outlets or require destruction of a weatherproof box. Second, the adjustment screw for the camera mount is on the same side of the camera as the wireless antenna. So, in order to loosen the screw to make minor angle adjustments of the camera mount, you must first remove the wireless antenna from the camera. This is a nuisance when trying to play with different camera angles and positions and check out the picture since you will need to re-install the antenna to actually see the picture. Lorex, a simple solution would be to design the mount so that the adjustment side of the screw is opposite the wireless antenna (In case you are wondering, no, you cannot pull the screw out and thread it through the other side. The holes in the camera and the mount are different sizes). Third, do not over-tighten the camera mount adjustment screw as the plastic is very cheap and will crack. I had to run to the hardware store and buy another screw, washer, and nut that would work with the cracked plastic. Fourth, it is not intuitive where to download the client software for the computer. I used the chat option on the Lorex website and was given the link to the program. The apps available for your phones and tablets lack much of the functionality that the client software provides. The client software allows you to view all cameras at once or one at a time. You can record everything or just motion events or both and each camera can be set up differently. The night vision is limited but decent.

Posted .These cameras offer night vision of up to 130 feet depending on installation conditions. If you are experiencing any issues with the night vision, please make sure there is no light source shining directly at the camera as this can distort the image. You can also speak with our technical support team to make sure everything is set up and functioning as it should - 1-877-755-6739. Thank you.

Good system and easy setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Lorex wireless system. I upgraded from a previous VGA system after two of the four cameras lost its night vision capabilities probably from the LED's burning out. I read all the reviews before buying the unit and also read the PDF instruction manual on the Lorex website before purchase. It's important to note that ideally; outdoor water resistant outlets be installed near to the positions of the cameras. One thing I noted that was problematic was that the prongs of the adapters was changed 90 degrees to the previous system and it made it impossible to plug into the outdoor 2x4 box horizontally. I had to buy adapters that would convert it back to a vertical alignment before I was able to plug it in. Overall, the connectivity was easy as I already had the outdoor water-resistant outlets in place from the previous units. Most of the cameras were within a forty foot range of the receiver and I got anywhere from 3 to 5 bars on the reception which was adequate for a clear picture. Night vision was good up to 70 feet before the LED's faded out. Interest connectivity with both the iPhone and iPad app was good -- able to watch remotely as long as i got a good LTE or Wi-Fi signal to the digital devices. Got the system on sale at Best Buy for $450 which was a good price. I also purchased the Insignia 24" LCD TV for $109 using it as a HDMI monitor.

It works as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice kit with 4 camera and recorder. I had it up and running within 1 hour, however it took two days to place the camera where I wanted them. Once it is on I can log onto my IPad or Iphone and view my camera at any time I have a wifi connection. The camera are low resolution and not very good for details but adequate to inform the police whether it was a truck or car that pulled into my driveway. I would not be able to view the license plate numbers. Very easy to set up and enjoy.

hard to setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to get current camera views, but very difficult to get system to do anything like email notification. No manual included. you must download it and print it yourself. Incorrect information in manual in places. Tech support required since errors in manual. My system would not detect motion until aprox 15 feet from camera. Tech could not help, told me to return to store for replacement. Best Buy store I purchased from was out of stock and could not replace. Other Best Buy would not honor price I paid. Said I purchased it on sale 4 days earlier and would not honor price. Bad Customer Relations !!!!!!!!!! Will not shop Best Buy again.

Terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The cameras are cheaply made and cannot me moved easily. The cameras can only be moved up and down. The night vision is extremely terrible. The product says it can see 120ft at night, all we could see is black. Trying to playback footage on the cameras was very difficult and it did not track or record footage, so you had to review all footage at x8. We tried to contact customer support to ask why the cameras did not work at night and were told that the cameras were working as intended. I would not eeccomend this product.

Not Recommended
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this camera with the hopes of being able to remotely check in via internet. We were able to remotely connect to the system, but the video feed would not relay. There is not much support available. Got tired of trying to resolve their issues. Boxed it up and returned. Nowhere near worth $700.

Had Logitech, LOVED. Got this, affordable thats it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WIFI DRAG!!! READ ON. DON'T BUY!! So I am going to take time out of my evening in order to spare someone a lot of grief (search Best Buy reviews and type in WiFI, I'm not the only one). Here's the scoop, if you have a vacation home and you don't plan to use the cameras/ wifi together, these might work for you. If you don't need clear nigh vision capability, these might work. HOWEVER, if you are looking to find a good set of cameras with night vision (spend the money for infrared) DON"T BUY THESE. They were affordable, that's it. I purchased the set of 4 at such a steal! Then, my wifi took the real hit. Allow me to explain where others did not make this comprehensible... I have the highest speed internet you can get for residential in Maine. I was able to measure a downlead speed of 22.31mbps and an upload speed of 3.67mbps while the system was plugged in (no one was accessing the cameras or viewing video, this was just running in the background). When I unplugged the camera's/ Lorex dvr system I was able to get a downlead speed of 50mbps and an upload speed of 6.21mbps (brand new Best Buy Modem/ Router - Arris Surfboard). If that's not enough to deter you, let me explain the workarounds you need to do with the iphone, mac, ios... in order to view the camera display you have to go to the app, skip the live view because that rarely works... then hit device, then hit save, It will load slowly. The camera quality would suffice for observing pets or large areas of movement like a driveway...but after having Logitech, I must say I am really spoiled for a good quality camera. The Logitech camera quality was so good but unfortunately, my model was 8 years old and in need of replacement. I didn't want to spend thousands for the cameras ($900 for the main system and then $500 for each additional camera)... I settled. Not sure that was good because now I have to go and unplug, remove cameras, etc. spend half a day to see if Lorex will credit or return. I will say their customer service was pleasant, more so than Netgear. Another bad option that I will not go into too much detail here about Netgear but let me say their customer service was terrible and their cameras were constantly dropping connectivity (they blamed my wifi, Lorex actually proved their theory wrong for me). Lorex camera did hold the connectivity well but the trade off was it would cut my wifi speed in half! A sacrifice I am not willing to make. So you know, you cannot wire these cameras... I asked. There's no way to hard wire (by this i mean, internet is wireless on these but you still have to plug each camera in for power... no way to hard wire to internet capabilities unless you are perhaps you go against manufacturer suggestion) per Lorex tech support, level II.I wouldn't recommend these to anyone.

Posted .Thank you for your feedback. Many different products found in homes use the same 2.4GHz frequency as digital wireless cameras. This includes cordless phones, baby monitors, microwaves, and home Wi-Fi routers. There are several things you can do to improve the performance of both your wireless cameras and your Wi-Fi network.
Since digital wireless cameras and some home Wi-Fi routers share the 2.4GHz frequency, installing wireless cameras may reduce the speed of your Wi-Fi network. The most effective thing you can do to ensure your Wi-Fi network has the best possible performance is to upgrade to a dual band router.
A dual band router is able to use the 5GHz frequency so that the signal is not competing with your wireless cameras. Most smartphones, tablets, and laptops on the market today will support 5GHz, so this will ensure the fastest possible Wi-Fi speed and performance. It also produces a 2.4GHz network to ensure compatibility with Wi-Fi devices (such as older phones, laptops, or smarthome devices) that do not support 5GHz.
Another solution to improve your Wi-Fi performance is to lock the channel that your wireless router operates on. This ensures that the wireless camera signals are less likely to collide with signals from the Wi-Fi router. Locking the Wi-Fi is done through the router's web interface. See Improving Wireless Camera Signal Stability: Configuring your Wireless Router or your router's user guide for more information. Please contact Lorex's technical support team and they will be happy to assist you further
