This review is from someone who constantly works with multiple computers during the day- Windows and Apple. This has been one of the most perfect laptops I've owned, and I've owned many laptops including 5 other Macbook Pros. What I love the most is it's so frikin consistent and dependable. Always works right when I need it. Build quality is superb, as usual for a MBP. The speaker quality is absolutely magnificent. Battery level is amazing! Don't forget about how powerful this is! I love it!!!

    Fantastic Computer

What a difference a year or two make! My last Mac computer was a 2011 or 2012 MacBook Air. At the time, it was great value for the money and provided a portability and build quality that was unmatched in the PC space. After grad school, I transitioned to using an iPad for most of my home computing needs. But I always remembered the MacBook Air fondly. Fast forward to 2020, and my wife and I needed a laptop we could share. I picked up the base Intel MacBook Air at the time (this was before the M1 machines launched) expecting the be blown away by the advances in tech since my last MacBook. I wasn't. The Intel machine was slow and clunky, the fans would spin up constantly, and the battery life was atrocious coming from an iPad. We ended up selling the machine. But this year we decided we did need a laptop, so I picked up this 14-inch MacBook Pro on sale at $1600. All I can say is: Wow! This is the decade leap I was looking for. This thing is blazing fast. I don't do any heavy computing, but this machine handles everything at lightning speed without breaking a sweat. I've not heard the fans activate once in the few months we've had it. The screen is beautiful, the keyboard feels great to type on, and the battery life is superb! I'm also glad that Apple finally decided to put ports back on their machines (though I do still wish they had included a few USB A ports). My only minor complaint so far is that the vents on the bottom of the machine can make it somewhat awkward to cart around or put on your lap. I think if you really prioritize portability, the new M2 MacBook Air is a better bet. But at the sale price of $1600, you are getting a lot for your money. A similarly spec'ed M2 Air would cost about the same and come with a worse screen and processor. I expect this laptop will last me for years to come.

A+. Apple has done a great job with this 14” model. From its compact form, to the convenience of the heightened aspect ratio and desktop level power this device is the best laptop all around. It comes with a price, but when you need the power and convenience it is undoubtedly worth it! Thanks to the MagSafe adapter + HDMI, I can connect for a desktop style setup and still have ports free for charging. Spacious and smooth touch pad makes things easy if I’ve forgotten my mouse! This MacBook makes my life simple as I can run any task I need it to as a graphic designer from a single charge!

Great laptop with excellent battery life. The display is gorgeous and the 120Hz is like a sprinkling on top. As a college students, this laptop helps me get through a full day from 9 am to 11 pm with moderate tasks like coding, web browsing, media, and note taking. The form factor is excellent and very portable and so is the laptop's heat management. It pairs well with an iPad with universal control and it makes the workflow very smooth. The processor handles tasks very well. The high performance is especially noticeable when compiling code and also when transferring files. Overall, an excellent value laptop

Upgraded from a MacBook Air 13" to this. Bigger, heavier, and bulkier - all sounds like a bad idea. Until I got to the positives, more ports (3 USB-C / Thunderbolt, headphone, SD card, and HDMI); longer battery life; slightly larger screen; faster processor; and a much nicer keyboard. This confused me a bit at first, but all the USB-C ports can charge the laptop. There is a mag safe charging port (pretty darn useless versus USB-C charging) and an adapter cable (USB-C to Mag Safe). One thing Mac's do incredibly well, the screens. They are incredible, gorgeous colors, amazing detail, and great brightness. When by myself, I watch television on this, it is just that good. The speakers are nice, a good improvement over the Air. Not audiophile, but they absolutely serve the purpose. I wish Apple would round that little sharp edge at the slot below the track pad. All MacBooks are like this, and it is annoying. A down right great laptop.

My favorite laptop I've ever owned, Keyboard is next level. Display is next level , 120hz!! Looks very very smooth and runs very smooth. I can have Photoshop and Illustrator both open with two files in each and watch a YouTube video with no lag. I never write reviews but I have seriously fallen in love with this laptop. Size is also perfect. Weight is great. Chassis looks amazing. GET THIS!

I grabbed this one on sale to upgrade from a 2019 16” MacBook Pro. That computer was a space heater that had the fans ramp up if I opened anything at all. Do you know what the fans sound like on the 14” M1 Pro? I’m seriously asking because I’ve never heard them. The fan RPM has been at 0 since I’ve brought this home. The battery life is excellent and the speed everything runs at is more than I need for recording in Logic. This is the biggest upgrade from a previous laptop I’ve ever had, and I didn’t even get the M2 Pro.

Apple makes this laptop with the idea it’ll only last a few years. No components of the hardware can not be upgraded. The trackpad is a pain to work with. All the USB port are usb c Apple don’t care about the user experience or a quality product, they just want your money.

Unleashing the Beast: My 14” MacBook Pro from BB

So, I recently picked up the MacBook Pro 14” with the M1 Pro chip, 16GB of memory, and a 512GB SSD in Space Gray from Best Buy. Let me tell you, this thing is a beast. Why I’m Loving It: 1. Speed: This laptop is fast. Like, really fast. The M1 Pro chip is no joke. I can have a gazillion tabs open, and it doesn’t even break a sweat. 2. Display: The Liquid Retina XDR display is stunning. I didn’t think I’d care that much about a screen, but wow, it’s like a mini movie theater. 3. Battery Life: I can go almost an entire day without needing to charge. For someone who’s always on the move, this is a lifesaver. 4. Design: It’s sleek, it’s sexy, and it’s Space Gray. What more can I say? Oh, and the ports are back! No more dongle life. 5. Sound: The speakers on this thing are insane. I was genuinely surprised by how good the audio is. Other Options I Considered: 1. Dell XPS 13: Solid laptop, but the M1 Pro chip had me sold on the MacBook. 2. Surface Laptop 4: I like the design, but I’m more of an Apple ecosystem guy. 3. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon: Great for business, but I wanted something more versatile. 4. HP Spectre x360: It’s a 2-in-1, which is cool, but I wasn’t sold on the performance. 5. Asus ROG Zephyrus: Geared more towards gaming, and that’s not really my jam. So why did I go for the MacBook Pro 14”? Well, the specs are killer, and I got a pretty sweet deal at Best Buy. It’s the perfect combo of power, aesthetics, and usability. Honestly, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase.

I'm a long-time Windows laptop user who has finally converted over to Apple. Last year I purchased an MacBook Air for my wife and loved how it "just worked". This year, I purchased the 14" MacBook for myself. I love how it integrates with my other Apple devices. I was excited that Apple brought back the MagSafe plug for power, very easy to connect and I don't worry about bending plugs or having the laptop getting pulled off of tables if someone bumps the cord. The battery life for the amount I use it is great. Unlike my Windows experience in the past, I can basically use the MacBook free from being plugged in most of the time. The keyboard is low-profile and take little effort to type. Apple's integrated tactic touch-pad is great, but does take getting used to if you are coming from older Windows laptops. There is a learning curve when switching between operating systems, but what you gain in standard features, like the ease of FaceTime or being able to use Garage Band of Movie Maker for free, is a huge change from trying to find software on Windows and making sure the right drivers are loaded. Finally, the build quality itself is excellent. For all the other laptops I've owned, from the cheap to the pricey including my work supplied laptop, the aluminum body, stable hinges, and screen clarity are first class. Plus, when you open it, it takes seconds to login and get started compared to Windows load times.

Great laptop! Love the bigger size compared to my old 13” MacBook Pro. Also, I like that this model doesn’t have the Touch Bar. The Touch ID to log into the computer is a wonderful feature. Apple wins again!

The product is damaged. The lid has scratches plus the screen had smudges which I had to clean. It is holiday time and I don’t have time to make trips at the store and wait for a few more days for the new device to be shipped and delivered.

The best screen and battery in a laptop currently

Let me start by saying this laptop is not marketed towards me. I am not a "pro" user. I don't do any video or photo editing, nor do I own any other apple products. However, I use this laptop every day at work. A dozen tabs open at all times, videos, podcast, or music playing in the background and it just doesn't break a sweat. There is no fan noise or slow performance. Somehow the battery last DAYS. The screen is the second highlight of this Macbook. I've used many laptops and high resolution displays, but nothing looks as good as this one. For the price this is definitely worth the upgrade from the 13" air or pro models. Some additional thoughts: Keyboard: 9/10 very nice to type on with good key travel Trackpad: 10/10 best i've ever used. Speakers: 10/10 Incredible sound for a laptop, no external speakers necessary. Build quality: 9/10 Sleek design and feels very solid. Upgradeability: 0/10 In typical apple fashion there is nothing upgradeable. Everything in soldered to the logic board. I/O: 7/10 another upgrade from the 13" models. Magsafe charging is great with the ability to charge via USB-C as well. 3x USB type C. HDMI, and SD card slot are a nice addition. Sadly no USB-A.

Bought the 14" MBP new during the December sale. While apple or no other dealer was marking the price down, BestBuy had the best deal at $400 off ! Battery does justice, love the magsafe charger, super powerful machine that it renders all spot edits and masks in Photoshop/ Lightroom in almost realtime, the AI based object recognition works super quick, doesn't heat up (for my workloads) compared to my older intel based 13" MBP. Overall im a happy customer.

Coming out of a MBP 2018 Four Thunderbolt 3, 2.3 i5, 16g RAM this thing screams in comparison with the M1 in it.. Updated Keyboard = WAY BETTER (no more crazy loud typing). Bye Bye Touch Bar and Hello MagSafe charger!! The notch in the top of screen doesn't bother me at all and after about 2 days of use, I've actually forgotten that it's there. Got it on sale (so less than $1,600) so that make me feel better about the upgrade also.

Silver or Space Grey? Silver is the classic MacBook look. When you take it out of your bag, everyone knows what you have. Space Grey is more modern looking, and less conspicuous. It is much more muted when you open the laptop, it lets the screen and keyboard be the focus vs. a high contrast silver surround. I chose Space Grey. Performance. The laptop runs smoothly without any delays or stutters. I don't have anything to compare the M1 Pro CPU running Monterey to, but I have not been able to serve it more than it can handle. It is impressive. Upon powering up the Monterey OS uses ~2.8 GB of RAM. After opening a few browser tabs, facetime, and a couple of settings apps, I was at ~ 7.5 GB. This would hit the wall if it were a 8GB device, but with 16GB total, there is plenty of memory left. Also, the WiFi has great range. It picks up more networks than my other devices. Maybe it's better antennas? Overall this laptop exceeds my expectations. Look and Feel. The screen is beautiful. It is borderless, ok maybe a couple of mm, but it's edge to edge. The keyboard and trackpad are as good as it gets. The 6 speaker setup is surprisingly good for a laptop. The 14 incher is small (since there is no border on the display), but at 3.5 pounds it has some heft. This laptop has a premium 'feel' to it. Overall. This laptop is expensive. Even on sale at $1,599 it is still pricey. But it seems to be the sweet spot for MacBooks. As far as price, it's right in the middle, but the specs are closer to the high end models. Maybe when the M2 Pro CPU start shipping I'll be a little jealous, but at $1,599, I think I will feel a little smug knowing I got a good deal.

I am new to the MacBook world and first started with the MacBook 16 Pro, but found it to be a little bit big and heavy to my liking, so I returned it and got the MacBook Pro 14 instead and it is perfect in terms of size and weight for my needs. So far I am greatly enjoying this computer and it offers great sound, graphics, and is a quality build. I highly recommend the MacBook Pro 14 to anyone lookin for a MacBook Pro.

Hands down the best MacBook computer I have owned. I exchanged my MacBook Air M1 for this computer, because the Air was just noticeably slower. I traded my MacBook Pro Intel I5 thinking performance would be the same, but turned out world apart. Not only is the keyboard amazing to type on, the camera for zoom meetings is crisp, clear and high-quality, the laptop is buttery smooth with having multiple taps open, email, browsing, music, etc. I don't do any video and photo editing, so no comments on performance there, but for work, school and personal use this computer is world-class! Worth every single penny and if you choose to go with this one over the Air, you will not be disappointed. The screen quality and size is definitely noticeable as well. The additional ports are nice to have, but was not a necessity for me. However, having that HDMI port on the side is super convenient to plug into your TV. At the same time is does have screen-share also to share via Apple Air Play. Overall, very happy with my purchase and I am sure you will be as well. Can't go wrong as long as you can stomach the cost.
