Customers frequently mention the enjoyable gameplay and large map sizes as significant strengths of MAG Greatest Hits. However, many also cite the game's graphics and occasional lag issues as weaknesses. The limited gun selection also received some criticism. Teamwork is highlighted as an important element of the game experience.

First off this title should be called LAG! I've never played an online ps3 game with lag so bad. There is no repeat NO story mode at all so the only way you can play is to be online. The gun selection felt very limited, and really there are only 2 players that get any xp. The sniper, or the medic. If you try to go run and gun your going to die all the time. You really only can get xp from killing or healing, so even if your team wins you might barely get xp if you didnt kill very much. Also even though MAG likes to boast about 256 players vs each other at the same time your get broken down into squads of like 8(i think) so its basically 8v8 teams. I can't say if it stays that way all the up to whatever the end game is because I couldn't take playing this piece of garbage for more then a week. So overall unless you like to deal with a laggy unresponsive game, Don't buy.

MAG a COD killer?

Well honsetly I think that this whipped COD W@W when it came out. Here's my little reivew....
____
Difficulty: If you are an average COD player, this isn't a game for you. Unless you own a clan or work as a team mate or try to at least. On the Domination gamemode it is VERY hard if your defending because you never know if a hostile moves in and captures a bomb site or what ever... So it is very challenging.
____
Responsiveness: VERY HIGH. The most Responsive game out there other then BFBC2.
____
Graphics: Aren't the best in the world but their average. They look like COD 4's graphics. Nothing special. I do like the explosions and that in this game.
____
Fun: This is a VERY fun game. If you have a mic it is 300x funner. But the only thing i don't find fun if your team mates just sit around camping....
Overall this game is a very good game. It is better then Socom Confrontation i would say.

A FPS...on a Grand Scale...*Valor Squad* all day.!

MAG is a FPS that is on a level like no other FPS. What sets it apart...#1; it's strictly online. No offline campaign/story. Your only objective is to pick your affiliation, gear up, and wreck shop on every other faction. #2; it really focuses on "Squad" Combat. I put it in quotes because if you venture off 2 far on your own, you will have minimal success. You may be able 2 get a kill or two but you will soon be overwhelmed by 5 to 6 other player or taken out by a sniper with a good eye. #3; NO LAG. I've played other games online from fighting games to other FPS's and have had more lag problems than i've had with MAG.
They have a decent selection of weapons and "perks," although they could have used a little more. Leveling up is a grind but it feels very rewarding whenever you do. I will say this though, i have had more fun playing this FPS online more than any other FPS, and i own MW2 and Battlefield: Bad Co.2. Not taking anything away from these 2 great titles at all, i'm just saying. Anyway all FPS lovers should definitely pick this up...you wont be disappointed, trust. VALOR SQUAD BABY.!!

the game is great in the sense that it has 256 players but thats also the problem with it. the #1 problem is will the players decide to cooprate with
each other because there are 128 players on one team and the rainkng system says who is in comand of everyone so the problem is will everyone take orders or will they try and be the hero in a game that is made for teamwork. everyone thinks they are the best but they may not be good at what tey say they are at, peoplle will have to be assigned tasks that they are the best at and not just what thewe want so again will they take orders or will the try and be a hero? that is the question on everyones mind i have to say. this will maklke or break the game because if noone can come together and be a team and act as one then the game is lost and will go down in history as the worst game ever made. the second problem is the amount of playerss in a single game will the servers be able to handle it or on the first game will the servers just shut down?

I've read all of the posted reviews before posting my review. Many of you guys posted good reviews about this game being that you beta tested the beta for such a short time. The customers who posted less then average do not truly understand how the game actually works. I've been testing this beta for 4 phases of its run. I was selected to test the "private beta" (1st phase). First off the graphics were much worse compared to now. I have a remedy for that. On most games the PS3 defults to 720p on HDTVs. When mag is booted it defults to 720p. I changed the settings so that the PS3 only played in 1080p and guess what? A big difference in the graphics.
Next up communications. Mics are a requirement while playing this game. Without mics your chosen faction will have serious problems completting objectives. This game is deeply "team based" so if you are the "lone wolf run n gun" type and cannot follow orders from leaders then do not purchase this game.
There isnt a single player mode for this game but there are two modes that many of you guy may not have played. Suppression: your basic run n gun mode where you battle the members of your own faction 16 vs 16, no objectives. Acqusition: two platoons (32x2) members strong attack 2 defending platoons (32x2) in the accqusition of 2 prototype vehicles located in each factions stronghold. Coordination and Communication are keys to victory in this mode for sure.
Lag in a game of 256 players!? Dedicated Servers!? From what i've discovered Zipper Interactive's server structure is an "under development" server. The setup is something "original" and "innovative" meaning that they haven't released the specifications of their server structure due to patents. For now there may be a new name for a server structure that holds up to 256 players over a large platform on console systems alone. Who knows Zipper may even loan/sell the server structure to Infinity Ward. lol CoD MW on a lagre scale battle 32 vs 32 maybe? We can dream can we? lol.
Well customers i highly suggest you pre purchase/purchase this game if you you dont mind following orders and playing as a team. If you decide to run with Valor faction then pre purchase from here to get the "Bulldog" in game character. See you guys in game! PSN: dogwarrior

ive had the beta for about a week so far and ive had no problems with it yet. there is absolutely NO LAG @128 players, ive yet to play w/ 256 but a friend who has, said there was NO LAG in those games either. i think it has pretty good graphics. the gameplay is fun and there is never a dull moment. Having a mic is a plus but isnt needed as there are ingame controls to dish out orders and is also easy to follow orders. the only downside that i can see is getting used to the maps(which are big) other than that, great game.

I think this is a decent game, not Modern Warfare 2 but is just as fun. I keep hearing about the graphics being bad so I was hesitant on buying it. Played it at my cousins before I bought it and was amazed with everyone's bad reviews. If you have a cruddy TV then that's why it looks like junk. I think the graphics are good.

The "players" will make or break this one

The Graphics don't have to be outstanding to make a good game. All good Multilayer games require a healthy player base for them to be fun, etc.
This game with its Stress on Team Play could be the final cut to its throat. 90% of all FPS Gamers are "Single" Minded and not team focused. This game in all honesty would of been better coming out on The PC with dedicated serves. Allowing the "player" community to have a greater involvement on enforcing team play. If you're a PC gamer you know where I'm coming from. However, for those of you who don't. You can simply Boot people who don't work together, etc.
This idea is not the first game to go over the 64 player and 256 players is a joke compared to WWII Online for the PC with Thousands of players in an FPS. Where battles can reach well over 256. However, it lacks the graphical sweetness, etc.
I'll still probably give this game a shot for the PS3. However, I think its just going to be torn apart by careless gamers.

Frustrating

Not what I expected-Very lilmited gameplay and character development. Pick a character and you're stuck with him forever, there is no changing...Also, there are only four or five scenarios to play, they become very routine very quickly. The only thing that ever changes is the people you play with. You will quickly learn that some people are very high in level and you can't even kill them, but you will die all too often. The game gets very frustrating and has almost forced me to quit. I have shut it off in the middle of battles on more than one occasion due to the frustration level. I find myself screaming at the screen, and not in a good way.

I got this game to try it out considering you can have a huge amount of people in one room. I love FPS games, especialy online, but this game is no good. First of all the graphics are horrible. Secondly even if you stay with your sqad, when you first start playing this game it takes forever to level up because you will average about one kill every five deaths and it doesnt mater how good you are at FPS games. I dont see how it could be fun having to depend on people in your squad that dont even know you or care to help you. This game would be great with better graphics, more of a wepon selection and all over better game play.

MAG is a great new first person shooter for sure. With both full on 256 person maps and smaller 125 and even smaller 60+ maps there is a match fit for you. Inside these maps there are more to do than just run around and shoot people. There are defensive structures to repair on the defense, and blow-up on the offense. There are skill-trees to level up specific skills for your charactor which adds a RPG element. Right now there are 3 factions you can join SVER - VALOR -RAVON all with different outfits and gear, but SVER is a little overpowering at the moment but i assume it will be evened out with a patch over the next few weeks. The best way to describe the game is a cross of Warhawk and CODMW2. Worth it for the experience

First of let me say i also play MW2 they are completely different games. Sure you play as a soldier and kill others but definately different types of games.
This game is FUN! soon as i get home from work im playing lol some games get frustrating because you could have some people who just run around and dont follow objectives, however in this game following orders you get more exp. which of course lets you level up etc.
if you like games such as socom, rainbow six etc you will love this game. This isnt a Halo/ COD type game ( although they do have suppresion missions which is basically team deathmatch)
overall love this game its fun, its kept me away from COD and i love COD.
refreshing change i guess.

So I've read a lot of reviews on MAG and the biggest complaints are that its laggy and that getting xp is hard and the gun selection is limited and the respawn is too long. Well personally I rarely have experienced lag, and getting xp is easy no matter what class you choose as long as you work as a team. Too many people want MAG to be CoD MW2 which is a run and gun down as many as possible all by yourself. I know cause I've played it. MAG is supposed to be a team oriented, listen to your leaders and accomplish a mission type game and if you don't do that then sure you may get some kills, but you wont get the xp and you probably wont win, which gives you more xp. Personally I think the gun selection is fine, you can even pick up the enemy weapons when you kill them, but I guess to each his own on that one. And the reason the respawn has a slightly long wait time is so you can regroup as a squad/platoon because once again....ITS NOT A SOLO game. I'm level 58 and have all my leadership points and I love the game. The only problem I have is since it is a war I'd like to see some changing maps, but the game is relatively new.

I was really excited about this game when I reserved it and thought it may blow COD games out of the water. I was dissappointed however with the game play. No kill cam and it is hard to see where exactly the shots are coming from sometimes. There could be a sniper hidden somewhere and you would never be able to find him, as I learned right away. I love the concept of the game but the graphics aren't very good and the maps are not that great. Maybe when they come out with MAG 2 (if they do) if will address these issues to make it more competitive with the COD and MW series.

The games graphics are nothing special and the guns are ok, theres not much you can do to customize your guns and the online community in MAG is slowly dying, its a average game thats fun to play but probably wont be around much longer. The great thing is the price tag, for 30 dollars its worth it but dont expect to be playing this for years because it will probably only be weeks. The game has no story mode which doesnt allow it to be played again years from now, its a game that youll buy, play for a few weeks and sell.

This game would be closer to perfect if it weren't for it's ridiculous re-spawn count down clock which keeps you from the action before allowing you back into a map where you have to sprint for 2 minutes before reaching the fight. Result, you waist most of each 20 minute fight session running and dying instead of fighting and killing. For some however, The time you spend in intense battle may make up for that problem. My suggestion to MAG Makers? Get rid of the stupid Respawn countdown. Especially when you make people wait 20 seconds before letting them get back in on the fun.

if your looking for a good fps move on this game is chock full of lag switchers and cheaters i dont know at what point sony will start to take legal action about these cheaters but in there agreement it says that you cannot render or change the game yet you have people cheating constantly ; anyhow other than that the game is great and i have been playing it for sometime now although it is a decent product i just dont have any reason to continue to play this the value of this game has been thrown to the wolves .

So I downloaded the beta thinking to try it out, at first I was thinking.."Bah.. the gameplay is going to be like any other shooter... to many shots to kill one guy"
So I loaded up the game and was brought to a screen where I start by picking a faction and customizing my guy and once you pick a faction you are bound to it(unless you delete your character)
When you log into the game you are given options to change your loadouts before battles, check your stats, ribbons.. there is also a group invite option which you can invite up to 7 friends and work as a squad together.
The game itself is very fun, objectives aren't to far from spawn points and the game rewards you for working as a team.. killing enemies isn't difficult and the controls are easy to manage.. there isn't an auto-aim option so new players may have to get used to it
playing domination maps(256 players) are extremely fun, players are split up into squads and are given objectives.. officers can call in artillery and airstrikes.. players can drive APC and transport troops.
I will be trading in my copy of MW2 for this game when it is released.

Mag is a pretty good game, but it is not as good as MW2. Has HUGE maps, but also is very confusing, both controllers and maps. Still is fun to play though
