Finding a place by address is the best. We were out of town looking for a Wal-Mart, and it gave us the option of Wal-Mart or Super Wal-Mart. We chose Super Wal-Mart, and it steered us to a residential part of town, and then all of a sudden, it said you have arrived. It also gave us the wrong number for a restaurant. However, I was able to drive and not look at a map or get lost, so it is a good thing to have - especially on vacation.

This was a replacement for a Garmin. Works ok for directions. The points of interest not so much. I drove around looking for a restaurant in a strange town for almost 30 minutes until I finally found one off their list and I updated it the day before the trip.

Clunkier than my Tomtom

1. Turn instructions do not display accurately. At one in-town location, the indication was to turn left, the map showed that I was at one street before the instruction, so I passed that street. The display shortly caught up with me and indicated to me that I missed my turn. Sound was off.
2. The browse map feature is clunky. At zoomed-out levels, the map is oriented with North on top. At zoomed-in levels, the map spins around to current orientation of the vehicle. This is very confusing. Also, browsing the current route by zooming out gives only limited time to review before it resets to the view of current position.
3. Towns are not recognized. When asked to navigate to "Moser River, NS" or "Middleboro, NS" the device did not recognize those town names. When I found the actual location I found out that Moser River was actually documented as part of Halifax, about an hour and several towns away!
4. Navigation from Moncton, NB to Moser River, NS frequently routes in directionsthat are significantly out of the way. For instance, the GPS routes fastest through Antigonish, NS, 399 km, 4 hrs 8 mins. Shortest distance gives 308 km, 4 hrs 20 min, which is about 20 minutes over estimated. This is understandable, but using the fastest route if I "avoid" Antigonish it routes through Dartmouth. If I then "avoid" Dartmouth, it routes back through Antigonish. I ought to be able to avoid multiple instructions.
5. Moncton, NB has two different entries in the database. "Moncton" locates on Mountain Road at Reade Street. "Moncton 2" locates on Reade Street near Arden St. Although I did not have a problem finding my desired location, it seems a little clunky to have two entries from which to choose.
6. After initial installation, addresses would not validate or sync without causing unrecoverable errors.

This very well may only be better than my TomTom b/c it's probably 3 years newer... but I am very satisfied. I like that I can search by Lat/Long or by category... the search by name is not as great. I like the dozens of "one touch" memory locations... changing or modifying routes can be a little tricky at first- it's probably just user-break-in period tho. I like the auto on and auto off/sleep mode features to save battery life. Like all GPS - so far- even when selected to choose fastest route, it doesn't quite do so- if you know the area already- it keeps wanting me to drive around and through town to get to a freeway (San Antonio) when I know other routes a significantly faster- perhaps it calculates average speed limit- IDK- still- my wife wants to steal this one and give me the old one :-( I would definitely recommend this GPS. Traffic reroutes are REALLY nice in this model- giving options if you want to choiose your route

Decent device, good looking graphics, sometimes response or map updates on turns roads and voice commands are slow. Good value for the price. Using content manager can be confusing. Could not figure out a way to delete old GPS devices from my Magellan account,. Long wait times for Magellan support.

My favorite feature has to be the image of the upcoming exit. It makes it much easier to get in the correct lane of multi-lane exits.
The lifetime maps is a huge plus. It was more cost effective to buy this new GPS than to upgrade my old one.
