Not Sure if UHD Worth it, but was On Sale

I bought this while it was on sale for $20. I'm mainly into the HDR and Dolby Atmos benefits. I didn't really notice anything in UHD or HDR that popped out at me, so can't say if it the 4K disc is worth it or not. But to be fair, I haven't gone and watched the bluray disc to see if I notice any variances in quality. I did appreciate the Dolby Atmos and the sound field sounds good. But I think it might have been added after the fact, because I think Man of Steel was released in 2013 and Dolby Atmos didn't come out until 2014. Rgardless the sound was good.

Decades before Marvel and DC made comic book movies awesome, "Superman: The Movie" told a great origin story. "Man of Steel" does the same here, dropping any corniness and provides an alternate origin story that remains true to the source material. This 4K is excellent and there are plenty of jaw-dropping (and occasionally stomach-twisting) scenes to delight the viewer.

Maybe I’m biased, or maybe I just don’t pick movies apart like the legions of people with nothing better to do.
I love this movie. I think Henry Cavill is an excellent Superman/Clark Kent! Amy Adams is always great in whatever role she plays. The 4K is an improvement of the BD mostly in the audio. The Pictish superb with the film grain look is meant to be there.
Make sure you’ve got it turned up when our hero takes flight to take out the World Machine. BOOMS! he blows sound barriers!

I was reserved with praise after my first midnight viewing of this film in 3D IMAX, but I gave it another chance and revisiting it in 4K UHD, is like giving it an elixir that enhanced what was already there.
The film is a beautiful treat for the eyes and aural expereince that few match in my opinion.
It is a refernce piece that I have found to be quite effective at showing the true capabilities of 4K UHD.
As an origin story, it is what Superman always was, straight from the creators minds.

Steelbook Art is Amazing!

Jim Lee revolutionized comic books when he burst onto the scene in the early 90’s. Man of Steel is the Zack Snyder directed film that kicked off the current DCEU, but it’s the Jim Lee steelbook art that steals the show here. Superman has never looked more powerful and majestic thanks to Lee’s kinetic detailing. I highly recommend picking up this edition and the rest of the Jim Lee-illustrated DCEU steelbooks From Best Buy. The art alone is worth the price of admission!

This movie is the standard for Zack Snyder. It sets the tone for the Snyder version of Justice League. The Joss Whedon Justice League is an abomination to all super hero films. The Whedon version of Justice League is a step just above Kazaam and Two steps below Halle Berry’s Catwoman, which is an apostasy to every comic book movie ever made. So this is a must own film.

Why Do DC Comic Movies Usually Suck?

'Man of Steel' is a rare exception to a horrible string of horrible movies involving any DC Comics heroes. How many Batman movies just SUCK, for instance? Well, this one was well written, paid a unilateral respect for all aspects of Superman - including making 'him' someone we can truly relate to on a personal level - as compared to a 'plastic dashboard Jesus' icon, so to speak. Buy it! You will really like this one, I promise!

Man of Steel is the best Superman movie ever made! It has everything, you like in a super hero, movie! And now the 4k is at a cheaper price! It's Super..... Man! Get it? One of my favorite, movies of all time! It can hang with any Marvel movie(who is destroying DC Comics movies, as of late)!

I really enjoyed this movie. It was great fun to watch and I really liked how they went into more of the backstory of Superman's home planet. I had my doubts about this one because of the bummer that was Superman Returns but I was pleasantly surprised after viewing. The action scenes are pretty intense and the storyline follows something similar to the Christopher Reeve storyline. I am very curious about what they are going to do next. The Superman vs Batman idea seems very interesting. They've got a good start with this movie so I hope they continue to build upon this success.

This movie is by far my favorite superman movie, but it lacks story wise. The entire movie relies on CGI. While it's realistic on the amount of damage that is possible, it turns the film into just another summer blockbuster with over the top action. It's a movie that you'll watch once and forget about it. Casting was great, but if the entire Justice League franchise uses this movie as a backbone, it has no chance of reaching the success of Marvel. (Maybe if the films followed the success of the DC tv shows, but it's too late for that now)

If you like superhero movies and are not a hardcore comic fan, you are sure to enjoy this movie. The special effects are great and if you have a 7.1 sound system you are going to enjoy the sound effects. While the story does deviate from the comic books (it is hollywood afterall) they do a good job at providing enough background story to satisfy your answers and the plot is new from prior Superman movies (not the same old Lex Luther plot). I say the rating of PG-13 is pretty accurate making the movie fun for the whole family.

Love this movie, couldn't believe it when I was getting ready to leave the store because I found the movie I came for and out of the corner of my eye I spotted at the end of the bottom shelf and to my utter shock it came with the ultra rare slipcover, whin in itself is a beauty because of the rainbow shine effect. It was a good day at Best Buy.

I'll start out by saying if you are a huge fan of the Christopher Reeves' Superman, you're probably not going to be a fan of this movie. As opposed to the lightheartedness (and IMO kinda cheesy storylines and characters) of the original movies, this is a down-to-earth gritty reboot of the character. If you are a fan of The Dark Knight trilogy, you'll see that it fits in the same mold: a little dark and gritty. I for one, am excited to see where they take this franchise. Per usual, it's a superhero story so be prepared to suspend your disbelief!

What can you say? Far better than the last failed attempt of a film which most true fans do not even count as a film in the chronicles of the series. All though I do not necessarily agree with a few of the freedoms they chose with Jonathan and some other areas of the storyline, I am a diehard original supe fan, it is an excellent movie and very entertaining.
Excellent job by all involved and I must say that the lead supe did an excellent job and was true to the character in every sense..
Props...

There is a definite upgrade and resolution, and the HDR definitely helps the overall picture improvement. however, it’s the Dolby Atmos track that makes this 4K movie a definite pick up for fans, and Doe B Atmos enthusiast. from the opening scenes on krypton you are immediately bombarded with deep bass, and great channel to channel activity. I would suggest you pick it up even if you already own the Blu-ray.

This movie has a great plot and is co-produced by Christopher Nolan (director of the new Dark Knight movies). The picture quality is very good and the 3D was fun to watch. The only downside is that it comes with 4 disks. One is the movie in 2D, the other is 3D, another disk is for special features and yet another disk for the digital copy. For individuals who are not technically savvy, the amount of disks may confuse them. They really should have at least incorporated the special features into the 2D or 3D disk.

I saw this movie in the theatre when it first came out and thought it was a great reboot form the previous film. The package included Blu-ray formats as well as a 3-D version and a standard version, four disks in all. The 3-D version is actually pretty good. The only down side was it did not include any deleted scenes which I like to see and compare to the original. The extra feature disk was the original film with directors commentary, could have done without that. Otherwise a great package for the price.

I am a big fan of super heroes. Marvel dc anything you can imagine. I was really excited about this movie after hearing about it's release. I thought. The director did an excellent casting job with this film. My only problem with this movie is it left you wanting more. Since it was just an introduction movie by the time everything was happening it was going off. Such a tease. Can't go into details without spoiler warnings so ill leave it at that. Overall excellent movie can't wait for upcoming events.

This is a film that easily sits in my top 10 of all time. Everything I ever wanted in a Superman film, I got!! I will never understand the hate for this movie, but different strokes I guess.. This was the first movie I watched in 4k and it was like watching it for the first time. The blues in his suit were more vibrant and the explosions were super enhanced by the HDR. I can go on and on, but you have to see it for yourself. Everything looked crazy beautiful!

Superman gets as dark, gritty, and Batman-like as he can get in this reboot of the Superman mythology from executive producer Christopher Nolan ("The Dark Knight" trilogy) and director Zack Snyder ("300," "Watchmen"). We know the story all ready -- baby Kal-El is sent from his doomed planet of Krypton across the universe to Earth, where he is raised by good, salt-of-the-earth people, and, upon realizing the full potential of his mysterious super powers, dons the mantle of Superman, the... wait for it... Man of Steel.
With an all-star cast (some of them I would argue their "all-star" status), state-of-the-art special effects, and the backstory of Superman, how can it fail? Well, friends, much in the same way that "Superman Returns" failed: it forgot that Superman was a light-hearted tale of the American dream. Many of my quibbles with this films are spoilers, so I'll keep them to myself.
So, you're probably asking yourself, "Self, why did Telly1701 even buy this movie?" Because, its faults aside, it is an entertaining film with a great supporting cast (Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Russell Crowe as Superman's Kryptonian father, Jor-El, "Law and Order: SVU"s Christopher Meloni, and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner in heartrending turns as Superman/Clark's human parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent) and the ambition to be a new, different, kind of Superman movie, not inspired by Richard Donner's classic (but exceedingly goofy) film starring Christopher Reeve. It's worth a watch, and a quick prayer that "Superman Vs. Batman" will acknowledge some of the film's larger problems.
