Incredible picture, awesome sound. Dramatic scenes.

Though I am partial to Christopher Reeves' Superman, and the brighter more saturated colors in the Richard Donner directed Superman films including Superman Returns, I thought Henry Cavill played a good Superman. The film was well produced by Christopher Nolan and directed by Zack Snyder. I especially liked the scenes and action at the beginning of the film on the planet Krypton. Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner gave fine performances as Kal-El's father, Jor-El, and his adopted father Jonathan Kent. General Zod, played by Michael Shannon, was the perfect villian. The only thing I criticize was Superman's total disregard for private property and the safety of the bystanders in the city during the climatic battle between Superman and General Zod. I was glad this point was addressed in the sequel Batman vs Superman.

captivating movie.... ........ .....

For those of you who are fans of the comics it may be best to show that this film has an extremely similar vibe to the "Earth One" story presented a years back. Clearly, it's a reboot that while fresh and rewarding for the casual viewer while giving back to the fans. I believe a movie based on a comic book should remain faithful to its original material yet also needs to separate itself. The movie is both action and thrilling, as well as dealing with complex spiritual issues and what it means to be human. (Kudos) On the other hand, the action is heavy-handed, with punches, bullets, and other weaponry being thrown at people on a regular basis. This combination of depth and intensity creates a great film, both visually and theme. The performance of the story was nothing short of stunning! Finally the Superman film we've been waiting for!

Very underrated film and it even looks better in 4k

I wanted more for this film. It is Superman, an iconic character in pop culture (not just comic books). It is dark (very un-Superman), but also deals with the darkness of (near) absolute power. Something to think about. The toughest character to base a film upon is probably Superman so it is little wonder that movie studios (with their endless meddling) have such a hard time getting it right. In many ways it is just a rehash of Superman 2 from the original series of films. That is not a bad thing, since it pits Superman against real threatening foes (something rarely accomplished). Another edit or two would not have hurt since the film is too long. The disc is beautiful in its audio and video presentation. I wish more films were available in 4K, but maybe the future will change that.

Admittedly approaching this latest incarnation/ reboot with reservation (my Superman viewing dates to George Reeves then Christopher Reeve--even liked the Brandon Routh outing)but realizing this isn't so much a reboot as a consolidation of Superman 1 & 2. Henry Cavill is provided more screen time as Clark Kent ( pre-Daily Planet) than past films which allows his character to evolve more fully. Strong support is given by Russell Crowe & Kevin Costner as his real & adopted fathers. Diane Lane shines as Martha Kent. While Amy Adams' Lois Lane nearly steals every scene--but in a good way as her Lois is capable,smart ,savvy & not a damsel in distress. Action sequences are fast & furious & well-executed. This two-disc set is crammed with fun & informative extras celebrating the Superman legacy.
