Upgraded from a 9 year old Onkyo receiver. Amazing sound and great features.

I went in to Magnolia looking to purchase either a Marantz or Yamaha receiver. Speaking with the sale rep, his experience was that the Marantz suited the Martin Logan speakers better than the Yamaha. I bought my speakers before at Magnolia and was completely satisfied. So although both receivers were about the same, I went with his recommendation and am completely satisfied

I purchased this to replace a Sony that was damaged from a lightning strike. The sound is amazing and very rich as I observed while in the MDC. I have two small issues with it. 1. The setup and menus are only visible through the HDMI output. My system and television are setup with component video so for the setup I had to bring down a smaller more portable tv. 2. I cannot get my Directv remote to regularly power it on and off even though the volume works. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice if they used more standard ir coding.

The Morantz 5010 is quite a Receiver. When I get totally familiar with all it features ,I will be like an Audio Tech in a recording studio. So far it's awesome. Wish they provided a hold in the hand users manual. It would make itv a lot quicker and easier for us older people. Its hard to read the computer text.Good Purchase!

I bought this unit for sound reproduction and was not disappointed. It's outstanding. Speaker setup, using Audessy, is simple. The only reason not to give this 5 stars is the display is too small. Most of my usage is music (internet radio, CD, tuner, etc.) I need to turn the TV on to do most things. I would definitely recommend this unit.

Best Midrange receiver for both Music and Movies

Music or Movies. This receiver shines. After auditioning all the receivers Magnolia had (Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha, Marantz) it was easy to narrow down to Marantz. Although I loved the SR7010 went with SR5010 to make my wallet/wife happy. One of the main reason to select this receiver was that it has 2 HDMI outs so that I can connect both TV and projector to it. The CM10s with 300watts are pretty hard to drive. I run it at almost full volume and there is no distortion. The Audyssay room correction did a great job working around the room acoustics issue.

So far I'm loving this receiver. I have Def Tech Bi Polars connected and they sound amazing. The sound fields are a bit basic compared to my old Sony which had much more sound fields. But moving up to this Marantz has been a good decision so far.

My only complaint is that the AirPlay functionality is a little sketchy, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But the amp has a great sound to it when watching a movie and listening to music. I am pleased with the purchase.

You will pay little extra for this receiver but worth every penny! Noticable impprovement to video and sound quality regardless of the input (dvd, cable, etc.). The bluetooth setting is really slick too.

The quality of this receiver makes it well worth the cost. I first bought a slightly cheaper Devon and had to return it due to a 'boxy' sound.
This receiver is fabulous!

The only reason I did not give this 5-stars is because I listened to quite a few receivers at a Best Buy Magnolia store, and some of the more expensive ones do make a difference. HOWEVER, for my budget, this was an EXCELLENT choice. I hadn't even given Marantz a thought because I was not fond of Marantz way back in the 70's/80's when I really kept up with all kinds of brands/models. But it was a winner during my comparison testing at the Magnolia store. And I am equally pleased now that I have been using it at home.
