Could not say enough about this receiver. Does everything you could ask for and more in a home theater system. As far as set up it could not be easier.

When My old Onkyo digital receiver's (TX-DS747) surround channels died, I began a search for a replacement. Looking at comparable receivers, all of which had great connectivity in this day of networks and Bluetooth, I decided to audition four receivers - the Onkyo TX-NR747, Yamaha RX-A850, Denon AVR-X2200W, and the Marantz SR5010. I did my auditioning at the local Best Buy Magnolia Home Theater area. Because it was not available in the auditioning room, I could not audition the Onkyo. I did listen to the other three using FLAC files via USB (provided by Best Buy) and my iPod through the "Pure Direct" function on the receivers. I had the salesman connect the receivers through to speakers that were comparable to mine and also included a powered subwoofer. In my home theater set-up, I use Polk in-wall speakers with an Infinity powered sub. I listen primarily to Classical music, especially Opera.
The Denon sounded very "bright" to my ears. The Yamaha sounded "muddy". The Marantz, however, had a very clear sound with excellent separation and placements of the instruments and voices.
I decided on the Marantz based on my personal comparison. I connected the new receiver at home very carefully and methodically. I replaced the banana plugs with new ones (I replaced the "crimp" style plugs with Sewell Direct Deadbolt banana plugs - very easy to do and very solid connections.).
When I first turned on the Marantz SR5010, it directed me to do a firmware update which I did before anything else - highly suggested! I went through the set-up menus which was very easy since I connected the receiver to my TV with HDMI. I then went through the Audessy XT program to set up the speakers using my photographic tripod rather than the supplied cardboard tripod. This did not take very long. Then I fired up the receiver and I was very pleased. The sound was just as clear as in the auditioning room at Best Buy. I used CD's, movies, and then my iPad with both a direct USB connection and Apple AirPlay. Everything was perfect! The SR5010 had ample power. I have also tried the internet radio and that was a lot of fun since I was able to listen to a classical FM station that I do not get well at all over the antenna. I have had a couple of hiccups with Apple Airplay but it seems to be with different recordings that I ripped but it could be the network as well. In any event the best sound will come from using the direct USB connection. I also am very pleased being able to view the music information on my TV screen on my TV at the same time since I use my Blu-ray player for bypass.
I have not tried some of the other features such as Pandora, Spotify, etc., as yet because I have not used these in the past. I bought this receiver primarily for music and home theater - I use an Oppo BDP-83 Blu-ray player and a Samsung 4K TV (both excellent and worth the investment.).
I am enjoying my new SR5010. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new mid-level AV receiver. However, I would strongly encourage anyone looking to replace one to audition other receivers like I did. The sound of one receiver or another may sound better to your ears. Do not buy a receiver without listening to it even though you can return it and choose another. That is a lot of work in disconnecting and reconnecting cables!
Have fun in your search but if you choose the Marants SR5010 I would not be surprised!
