I got this item to replace onkyo tr-609 that was not working well. Everything was easy to set up but I am still fine tuning. The sound is off from different YouTube videos. It will be really loud on one and not loud enough on the next. Dialog was off coming from the cable box (xfinity). But I am still working on it.

I am very happy with this receiver which drives my home theater and my karaoke system through my B&W speakers. The self-balancing speaker setup is ingenius!

This is a great receiver for the price. This is not a starter receiver. The controls do take some time to get used to.

Audio is awesome but there is a slight lag when playing games on the PS4. I notice it playing first-person shooter games

this is a good receiver at a good price for what you get.
sound quality is very good
100 watts a channel is good prolly underrated, I see a lot of receivers that have a misleading power rateing and you find out they are over rated.
gets warm but I haven't noticed it getting hot, just warm.
not heavy so placement on thick glass shelf should be ok.
picks up my internet radio good

Apple Airplay, No Sub Sound

It was easy to set up, but ran into issues with the subwoofer. When I would play music using apple airplay, at first had no subwoofer sound. Then after using the audyssee again, it had subwoofer bass. But after playing a few songs the sub shut down. Presently not real happy about this purchase and wish I had spent $1,000 on a different brand. This was supposed to be a higher end product, not so sure about it now.

Best-in-class for home theater!

I have designed and installed a few home theaters over the years. I usually preferred Denon or Yamaha receivers, but I decided to go with Marantz this time for our new home theater room. WOW! This is a fantastic product! It was easy to setup and configure. I have it integrated with a Harmony Hub (iPad/iPhone app) to control: Blue-ray, DirecTV satellite, PS4, Wii and AM/FM tuner. The onscreen menu was easy to navigate throughout the process.
The sound for home theater is absolutely incredible using Dolby Atmos with a 7.1 configuration and Bowers & Wilkins speakers: 600 series front L/R (SKU: 4828009), center (SKU: 4827028) and ASW608B subwoofer (SKU: 3395028); M1MB rear surround (SKU: 4841615); and Niles in-ceiling (SKU: 5856732).

I've owned many receivers in my day but this one is by far the closet one I've heard to sounding like a vintage tube amp. Absolutely stunning especially at this price. This sucker is doing things for my speakers i haven't heard from them with other receivers I've owned. I've had denon, yamaha aventage, onkyo, sony es, integra and nad and none of those come close to this. I'm not very fond of the mickey mouse little circle display but sound is more important to me so I'll deal with it. Don't even think about it just buy it.

I would love to give this product a nice review, but considering that this is the THIRD sound system we've purchased in ONE year, I'm waiting to see if this one lasts. We've spent big time money on a top line sound system and have had 2 of the systems blow and need to be be replaced. This latest model is only a month old so contact me in a few years to see if it actually lasted. Not impressed at all. ...

Marantz SR-5010

Finally replaced my Onkyo HT-R590 with this Marantz SR-5010 a few days ago and let me tell you..... When I purchase any type of upgrade equipment for my theature room or house in general if I don't get the "wow" factor I bring it back and try something different, well looks like I will be keeping this receiver for a very long time. Took a little setting up to do just like anything else but it was so worth it. The Audysse calibration worked mint, and the onscreen set up was nothing more then excellent. My biggest concern was will I get more of an effect with this new one over my Onkyo and I was told from the guys at Best Buy that I sure will. They were right on the money.
The sound quality is fantastic, the upscale is awesome and I'm sure the Atmos will be just as awesome once I get some Atmos speakers. Don't think about it...just do it.
Well done!!!!!

Poor 4K Receiver

I tried two of these receivers. Ended up switching to a Pioneer Elite SC95. This receiver had handshake issues with 4K HDMI cables. The HD zone flat out did not work with 4K. The volume had to be turned all the way up to even get descent sound. For being a high end receiver I was very disappointed. Purchase the Pioneer Elite.

Great value and great sound

The last Marantz receiver I owned was in the early 1980s and was awesome. This was a replacement for an Onkyo receiver that was purchased as a Bose home theater bundle. The Marantz SR5010 has delivered the highs, mids and lows that I didn't know existed in my Bose speakers. The wireless connectivity is great and Internet radio opens up a new world of music from every country imaginable. The receiver can be updated to keep up with future technology. If you're looking for great value, world class quality and a receiver that will fulfill your needs for decades then save yourself some time and start experiencing Marantz.

I bought this receiver to replace an Onkyo TX-NR807 that lost the sound after only 6 years. The difference blew my wife and myself away. Not just in sound quality, but it somehow made our 6 year old Samsung HD TV look better.
My only complaints about this are the two that you've heard before. No light on the remote and the small readout on the unit itself. The remote is not a big deal thanks to the Marantz app, and the little window doesn't matter, because with OSD who looks at the window anyway.
If you have the money and are thinking about this unit, you do yourself a huge disservice if you do not buy this one.

Marantz receivers have been all I have purchased for the past couple of years after having messed with Samsung, Arcam and Pioneer. The quality of the Marantz brand has never let me down and this 1400W 7.2 channel AV Receiver is no exception. The hardest thing about setting up this receiver is unplugging all of your old wires and plugging them into the new receiver, after that, the guided menus to setup and calibrate your speakers are so easy...a cave man could do it.
