Great for surround sound in my living room. Just what I was looking for.

I no novice in the home theater arena. I have had Hardon-Kardon, Onkyo, Yamaha.All decent to good receivers. The Marantz 1400w 7.2 and 4k pass through, is the cream of the crop.The 4k pass through is outstanding, I connected my samsung 4k blu ray player, and just blew me away.If I had a complaint, the odyssey speaker set up took a while, it seemed. If you have money, and love movies and what have you, get this awesome receiver.

Had this receiver along with Bowers and Wilkins speakers installed by the Geek Squad as part of my 5.1 surround system. The sound quality is top notch. Gave it four stars because of issues with Bluetooth, IPod/IPhone connections and Wi-Fi. Bluetooth worked after the Geek Squad left but now no matter what I try (including rebooting IPhone 6S) the receiver says "no connection." The IPod/IPhone USB connection on front of receiver does not work. Again, receiver says "no connection." The Geek Squad rep said Marantz concentrates more on sound quality vs. things like internet radio, WiFi, etc. He said he didn't recommend setting up the WiFi connection because Marantz automatically pushes firmware updates to the receiver which in some of his return visits to customers was the source of receiver becoming unusable. So why include these features if they don't work? Would have liked to use WiFi for streaming music since Bluetooth and IPod/IPhone connection do not work. Also, would have been nice to have a phone app to control receiver but that requires Wi-Fi. I don't recommend this receiver and would not purchase if I had to do it over again knowing what I know now.

This system works very well with the sound system I have.

I had similar issues with two separate Pioneer Elite receivers, SC-85. Upon returning the second as defective, I spoke to the Sales Manger and Magnolia Supervisor, who assured me that they both have or have had but recently upgraded to the 6011, and both love the 5011. The only thing it is missing is HDR pass through. The Marantz has a much cleaner and user friendly interface and is overall a better looking receiver.

I have owned several high end receivers (Adcom rotel pioneer elite) to name a few and I can't be happier with this purchase. All of the prior listed brands failed so I said why am I spending so much money given they fail after a few years. I'm glad I bought this. Don't hesitate.
