Half the inputs went out after 9 months. Closest service department is over 750 miles away according to Marantz. Was told I would have to pay shipping which would be $85+.

I have the SR5011 in my living room powering 5 in-ceiling Sonance speakers and a REL T-9 sub. I have been extremely pleased with the sound, functionality, and compatibility with this unit. I control the unit using a Savant Host, as the unit resides within a cabinet with the sub and other components. The unit functions marvelously with wifi controls, and I later wired it with ethernet. I haven't had any 4K issues with the pass-through, and have a 4K bluray player and a DirectTV Genie. The unit connects to a 4K LG OLED display. I do not use HDMI ARC as that hasn't been super reliable, industry-wide, so I didnt attempt it.
The Marantz App is simple and easy to use and setup. I have never had a lost wifi connection with the app, and can use the same app when i expand the system to include other receivers (different rooms) in the future.
I particularly like the Spotify integration - where I can use the native Spotify App to select the receiver. This makes listening to music very easy for anyone that house-sits or visits.
Power-wise, I rarely go above 60% as the Sonance ceiling speakers are relatively efficient. 60% is about all my family can handle (70% max if I'm home alone).
I've had other mid-tier brands like marantz in the past, and this is my favorite receiver to date. I plan to buy the SR7011 for the basement remodel in the near future (for more power and channels).
I highly recommend this product for a "regular" 5.1 or 7.1 system. It hasn't disappointed or left me wanting.

Previously had a Denon but needed a receiver that could easily handle 4ohm loads to drive my new Magnepan speakers. Also looking for a receiver that allowed me to A/B separate speakers, bi-amp, run two sub-woofers, have full bass and sweet highs. Check, check, check, check, check and check.
If anyone reading this review is looking for a $600 pair of speakers that sounds as good as anything on up to the $4,000 range, familiarize yourself with the Magnepan MMG. Aided by a sub-woofer and the Marantz sr5011, you'll enjoy your music like perhaps never before.
Finding the Marantz sr5011 to be a good match saved me a great deal of money on electronic separates. It is a terrific amplifier for music and for surround theater applications. It has a huge soundstage, vertically and horizontally, clarity beyond what you might reasonably expect, punch as well as gentleness when required.
Is the great sound because of the Marantz or the Magnepans? Hard to divorce one from the other. They are just a great match. Most receivers can't drive the Maggies. This one sure can.

Sounds great - Video Problems

I went with D&M (Denon and Marantz) due to fantastic experiences with both companies. My father who was a tech nerd in the 70's and 80's preached the quality of Denon and that resonated with me as I started to create my own home theater experiences.
I've owned many different receivers over the last couple of decades. Pioneer Elite, Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, as well as boutique amps for other applications. I have a limited amount of clearance in my primary home theater location (just over 7" but open air on the sides and my better half doesn't want to redo the built in) so I am limited in my options.
Replaced a Denon X3200w that was having video problems, hoping that it was handshake on HDMI. Buying into the marketing campaign cable sellers are using these days, I purchased "premium HDMI 18gb" cables and that didn't alleviate any of the issues - HDMI sends the signal or does not, the only benefit of "premium" cables is they are tested to meet the advertised specs. At first I thought it was my Samsung 9500 series set going bad in less than a year, but after much troubleshooting (partially my fault for immediately blaming Samsung) realized it was the receiver.
I was getting artifacts, banding, black outs, etc. Denon wanted me to send the receiver in for repairs and pay shipping. I decided for the cost of shipping I would replace instead (FYI both ways).
I hoped that D&M had corrected the problem on newer models as I love the sound stage of D&M, especially the forgiving warm sound of Marantz, but looks like they just stuffed the same video processor in a new receiver. The exact issues began immediately.
Replaced it with a Yamaha Aventage (Aventage are within the 7" and need some room to breathe) and without YPAO calibration yet has shown how far Yammy has come since my last experience 7 years ago with an RX model . I've tested the 4k video switching and it is perfect. I can promise I'm not a shill, and still have to see how the Yammy pans out in comparison to sound quality as I love the D&M sound, but so far has checked all the boxes.
If you are looking for a receiver for nothing more than brilliant sound I cannot recommend Denon and Marantz enough, still have a Marantz sr7005 I bought in 2011, but until D&M gets their video processing together cannot recommend them for home theater experience.
Speakers: Deftech BP8080 series front and center and Mythos Surrounds. Deftech Atmos.
Monitor: Samsung UN65JS9500FXZA
XboneS and PS4 Pro. Comcast X1.
Hope this helps!

Very good receiver with plenty of good solid power and the sound reproduction on this is amazing I'm using it strictly for music a turntable audio technica LP-120 and Definitive Technology - StudioMonitor 55 6-1/2" Bookshelf Speakers I tried the BW. speakers 600 series they are very good speakers if you are listening to classical and jazz but for me the DTs pack more of a punch all around bass n treble and more dynamics especially when listening to hard rock and progressive jazz vocals are very clear and instruments jump right out of the speakers for a very live sound I suggest you go to your nearest BB and listen to this receiver you will not go wrong, I'm very happy with my purchase and I want to thank my salesman Nicholas at jersey city BB.

USB stopped Working but I still love the thing !

Living with it for over a month now and the USB input just died yesterday without warning. Everything works and sounds awesome. Hoping that a special firmware will revive the USB input without affecting all my other settings. I've raised a ticket with Marantz and its been over 24 hours with no response (yet). Played 5.6MHz DSD (.dff) files flawlessly in Pure Direct mode.

Great sound, super clean and amazing addition to the home theater. After living with it for 5 years, started having problems with the unit turning on by itself and staying on even though I have set it to turn off after 30 mins of no activity. Hopefully geek squad will be able to help!

I've been Marantz fan for years......couple years ago I bought a Sony ES-5500 and Ive owned every brand B&K 507, Yamaha RXZ1, HK, Denon I understand this isn't the most expensive model but 715$ is a chunk of change to me and I always say you can feel the build quality in the volume knob...... right when I took this thing out of the box today brand new I knew I was going to put it right back in there but I gave the benefit of the doubt because it's a Marantz fired it up immediately put my Sony 5500ES back on 10 times better it was lacking mid-range it was lacking all dynamics of instruments take for example Pink Floyd Another Brick in the Wall when he does that guitar strum barely even existent in the Marantz it's a sad day for sure I will never buy another one again and I love them my whole life feels cheap plasticky again I know it's not the most expensive model but for $715 so I recommend either going for the $3,000 model or don't do it at all with Marantz go Sony ES you won't regret it the Sub woofer output blows away the marantz dual signal as well

Can put out a full 400 of 1200 watts before overheating or choppy output. Only positive great reviews get posted so people like me buy this inexpensive system that definitely wont wake the neighbors or someone in the other room. Great if you dont really intend to use all the features or need something that wont wake anyone up.

Well I will keep this short and brief. Let me say this. The receiver is nice spec wise but is a beast to set up, cannot update the volume levels for individual speakers and is not under friendly and this is coming from a software engineer. Was told you had to do the software update to use the latest X features and functionality and so I did that and from then on it was a brick. Froze my tv, cable box, PlayStation etc... don't want to continue to carry on. Long story short is I will never buy another Marantz regardless on what the so called Best Buy experts suggest. Obviously they need to learn about more then how much power a receiver has. I will be returning this piece and getting one somewhere else where I can get the product knowledge and advice I need to make a better decision.
