Just a perfect match to my NHT speakers

Gives so much clean and more than enough power to my 13 year old NHT speakers in music and in movies as if listening to a new set speakers of higher caliber that cost thousands, thus saving me a lot of of money. Lots of surround modes to choose from both in music and in movies. It even upgraded all tv outputs to 1080p no matter what your source is. Don't have 4K tv but all pictures look amazing to my 8 year old Hitachi 1080p tv. It's future proof to name some like hdmi 20a, hdcp2.2, HDR , wifi, Bluetooth, AirPlay and ready for Dts-x coming out soon this winter, very excited and can't wait for that update. I have a 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos set up (added an external amplifier since this is only a 7.2 receiver for the two on-wall speakers ) and am very satisfied, can hear a lot of information from all speakers on all sides , sometimes even turn my head cause I hear things I don't expect, lol, don't want to go movie theaters anymore. Very easy to setup thanks to audyssey platinum that came with it and it even automatically sync with my iPad 2 and iPhone 6s Plus, so cool. AirPlaying my music is so easy with no problems/glitches. If you're thinking of upgrading your system this is definitely worth trying. Getting it from Best Buy was the icing of the cake with 10% back in rewards when I purchased this last month plus easy return if not happy with it. But am keeping mind, not going anywhere.

This is my first Marantz AVR but the 6th AVR I have owned. The set up was easy simply follow the on screen instructions. I really like the Bidirectional hdmi arc setup between the TV and receiver. The set up also allows for multiple configurations including ceiling mounted speakers for rears. Makes streaming 4K Netflix with surround so much easier. The multi-channel stereo is actually only the fronts and center. Prefer the 5/7 Chanel stereo of Pioneer. All sound fields are organized by music, game, movie or pure. Opposed to the scroll of manipulations provided by other brands like "stadium/arena". I typically just leave it in doubly surround as we primarily use it this room for TV. I have not set up Atmos yet. Nor have I used the streaming apps included. Just apple radio from my phone. Works fine.
I did crank it up a few times. Plenty of clean power and depth.
The phone remote app crashed after a day as others have noted. Very disappointed as it seemed promising and worked better than the actual remote.
Another drawback is that the smart menu comes up every time the unit is turned on. And the remote is needed to turn it off. Which defeats some of the benefits of the arc. If there is a way to turn it off permanently I can't figure it out.

Atmos support: check
Expandable to 7.2.4 (with an additional amp): check
Interface ease / menu system: a bit much - so expect to spend some time learning it all.
It's not a perfect device and the cost is a bit more than the other items in its class - but I certainly do not regret my decision with this purchase.

This receiver is incredible! The onscreen setup process is extremely simple. It took 20 minutes to have all audio components plugged in, recognized, and speaker calibration complete. The receiver packs plenty of punch to drive full Klipsch speakers arrangement, and the atmos experience makes me never want to see another movie apart from my living room ever again.

A new receiver was needed due to HDCP 2.2, and this A/V Receiver allows HDCP 2.2 on all A/V Inputs. The main thing that makes this receiver great is that the Audyssey XT32 does an outstanding job setting up the audio for your room. Whether it's music or movies you feel like you are in it, and not just listening to it. Price tag is steep, but well worth it.

Awesome!!
Bought this to replace my still working Onkyo 636. Given the experience I had with two previous Onkyo receivers, I figured it was just a matter of time before the 636 went south on me. I'm done with Onkyo. Fairly nice receivers but they don't last long.
I've always wanted a Marantz. Finally I have one. And its all I had hoped for and then some.

this receiver exceeded all my expectations. it interfaces with all the add ons that anyone could expect (dvd player, tv, router and internet. it produces truly high quality sound through my speaker systems and offers unexpected adjustability to match the sound from different cd's and dvd's. this allows me to compensate for the characteristics of recordings that were made currently and in the past.

I bought this to replace a receiver that was 12-14 years old. The Marantz sounds so much better. I could instantly tell a difference in the surround sound clarity. The on-screen programming is very user friendly, and I love the ability to blue tooth, or air drop music from my phone to the receiver and play it through my stereo.

Not a lot of style, but a good receiver. Tends to generate a lot of heat if used in an enclosed area.

Whenever you are ready to graduate to big boy home theater, this is the reciever for you. Expandable to 9.2, it is Dolby Atmos and DTS X compatible. Use the Audessy set-up, sit back and enjoy. Highest possible recommendation.

Great Reciever, I'm running a 7.2 all Defintive tech, two BP 8020 towers, 8040 center channel, 2 Pro monitors 800 and BP 8040's for rear. Dynamo 500 and my towers for subs. Plenty of power and clear sound. This receiver can crank!

I first heard this system connected to b&w cm10 speakers, and I was thoroughly impressed. I thought thought they had an amplifier connected in addition to this av receiver. Nice strong sound. However I did not go with the cm10s even though I probably should have because I bought the b&w 805 D3's. I went overboard because of the price. Then I felt I needed an amp because those speakers needed more power to do what they do. But back to the Marantz, nice piece of equipment and won't go wrong with a simple surround sound setup. 5 speakers and a sub. Will make you happy.
