Had Marantz in past, one of the bigger ones, needed one smaller with new features. Every detail as advertised, easy installation, great performance!

Easy set up everything was easy and me and my husband love it it cranks out the tunes load enough I wont have to buy anything else to crank up our favorite jams . Have it hooked up to our pc and Samsung 65 inch .tv. Believe me marantz products rock. I had a pioneer 61 that never worked and was hard to set up. Should of bought marantz back then. The size also is nice.

I purchased this receiver to upgrade to 4K/HDR pass through and allow me to eliminate a HDMI switch and a manual optical switch from my setup. My speakers are the Jamo S428 package. I also purchased a Onkyo TX-NR555 because I wanted to compare the two. To make a long story short. Even though the Onkyo has more features and power on paper, the Marantz NR1506 just sounds better. Cleaner and warmer, just like the guys at Magnolia said. Audio is clearer and I noticed a larger range of sounds. I'm not sure how to explain this but I guess it comes down to the engineering at Marantz being superior. I returned the Onkyo and kept this receiver. It's also nice to have a smaller sized box versus the monolithic Onkyo. Setup is simple and setting are easy to learn. The remote has a cool style to it but is not a universal. So I picked up the Harmony 650 on sale, great match. A 3 year warranty is nice to have. Overall I'm happy and enjoying the sound this guy puts out. Picked it up on sale for $300 which is a great price for this unit. Best Buy/Magnolia are awesome!

I bought this having read it's glowing reviews via a BBuy Deal of the Day. It arrived, I hooked it up that night, and it worked form approx 10pm-6pm the next day. When we tried to turn it on again after that, it kept trying to cycle though its inputs and would shut off with the red light blinking. I looked up many sites with help on the situation and it all kept saying to reboot with a button combination or just leave unplugged for an amount of time. I did it time and time again, to no avail. It wouldn't come back on no matter what. I contacted BBuy for another one, but they said they have no more stock at all. Makes me wonder if it was just a clearance of a returned item or what bc it was 200$ off, but in the end, I'm getting my full refund.

Purchased this unit after my second Pioneer bit the dust on a Sunday morning before opening NFL weekend. I have owned Onkyo and Pioneer over the last 15 years. I have gone through 2 Onkyos and 2 Pioneers. I was fed up and said Im going to try something different. So glad I chose Marantz. This unit is exactly what I was looking for, simple, nice features and strong enough to support my current speaker setup. I love the remote, the layout is simple. I love the Spotify and internet radio integration. I love the wifi and automatic update notifications. The sound is fantastic as well. The unit doesn't come with a ton of tweaking settings. I am not one of those audiofile guys who has to tweak until it is Dolby Lab right. All I care about is good sound, great build quality and easy setup....this receiver fits the bill.

I bought this for my modest 5.1 setup which I originally bought 10 years ago. I'm using my old Klipsch Quintet speakers and this powers them very nicely. It was extremely easy to setup, it fit exactly where I needed it due to the half-height, and the sound and picture quality are great. My only complaint is the unit feels very cheap and light and for music it's not a world beater. It would be fine using it for background music which we do with spotify but if you are buying this to primarily use to play music look at a higher model.

    Fantastic mid-fi receiver!

What an incredible receiver for the money. You're getting a little of the Marantz touch and taste typically found in their $1k+ units. Its slim, sleek, and beautiful in its own timeless way sans gaudy displays and a million buttons and knobs. Perfectly asthetic, punctual, and intended as needed. Its power is true and adequate. Novices may be worried or steered away because they are used to the power specs of cheaper units boasting 1000w with 7+ channels. But if you take a peek at the weight of all these receivers you'll find this particular unit weighs more than the rest does. This is important as the secret is the transformer weight. This unit gives you actual spec'd power. A true 50w a channel is a lot louder than you think. Most factory car audio systems only pump out 15w of power, and no, not even the aftermarket units can actually keep up with a clean 50w a channel like many claim. I do find myself sitting at 3/4 volume often when jamming out in my 400 sq ft den but its perfect for my needs. It can go up to almost max without breaking up as long as "Eco mode" is turned off but I dont like to put my speakers through that. I digress. Moving on. Auto setup is a snap, some complain of an outdated menu screen but whatever, that is peanuts because other than tweaking you're not really using the menu much. You're buying this for an incredible entry level mid-fi sound experience. I do use the Pandora app occasionally (dated menu and all) because I find it actually has better sound quality than running free Pandora through my Mac Mini even though Pandora purposely scales down the audio bitrate unless you pay for it. Maybe Denon/Marantz has some special deal with Pandora? Who knows. DSP is fantastic. Its auto functions are great with a supplied microphone and the Audyssey in reference mode is something to behold, even for the experienced tuner. I dare say this is comparable if not better than Harman Kardons famous Logic 7 software (when HK's receivers were actually good). The Audyssey processing is very impressive converting 2 channels into my 3.1 set up and causes me to revisit all my music all over again and forces me to sit on the couch for critical listening that I used to enjoy so much years ago. I used to hunt down the bass/treble/sub settings no matter what but for the first time I haven't bothered. Its perfect to me. Its also fascinating how well it'll split up vocals on my center channel without an obvious and half-assed digital separation without vocals glaringly bleeding into the left and right speakers. Its almost like the music was mixed and cut specifically for my setup... once I manually dialed my center channel the way I liked it though. Airplay is kind of neat being able to control volume by using the volume buttons on my iphone but its connection and communication isn't reliable. Regardless, this is a great unit. I highly recommend it for the veterans and the nervous novice looking to get a little deeper in hi-fi. What do you have to lose? Return it if you don't like it. This receiver will try to work its best with what you've got but remember, garbage in garbage out. If youre source sucks and your speakers suck the receiver will only be able to do so much. I recently purchased the 1506 due to my Pioneer Elite receiver not fitting in properly on the bottom shelf of my tv stand. Needing something smaller led me straight to the Marantz slimline series. Setup was a breeze and it sounds fantastic so far. I am running it through a def tech mythos ssa 42 and Supercube 2000 subwoofer. Then menus are nice, clean and straight forward which I like as well. If you need a receiver with a small footprint, but don't want to sacrifice sound quality, definitely check out the 1506 or 1607.
