This is my first Marantz product, though have owned several other mid-high level receivers in the past 4 years. When setting up, there is definitely quality put into the construction of the product, and the basic functions (such as HDMI switching, upscaling, sound reproduction) really are excellent. No DSP. Useful on screen display, but not the modern GUI one would expect from an upper-end company. The automatic adjustment of speaker levels leaves plenty to be desired. There was much tinkering after initial setup, particularly with the center channel which was way too loud. The remote app, and its ability to streamline the usage of the receiver, is horrendous. There are so many options to thinker with on modern receivers, and a properly done iPhone app lets this be a pleasure rather than a chore. In fact, the new Marantz app does not even support this model, and the layout of the older app is terrible. There are lots of little improvements that could be made, but the overall gist is that the sound reproduction is excellent after proper manual adjustments. However, the lack of polish on the user experience is a bit frustrating (iPhone app, GUI, etc). I would cautiously recommend this product to a friend, depending on their needs and expectations.

I upgraded my AV receiver to this Marantz and I could not be happier. Sounds excellent, has all the goodies I need and I am sure this will last me about 10 years. For the price I highly recommend this.

I have owned Marantz products since the 1970's, and I have never gotten a poor example. Good quality, excellent tonal attributes, power handling, great packaging. I really like the bluetooth capabilities and use it daily with my cell phone music collection. This receiver is network capable and can be used as a hub for your gaming stations, TV, DVD, cable, wireless, etc. The plug and play capabilities are pretty good, it helps if you are somewhat tech savvy. Audio setup with the microphone works well, and if you use your HDMI connection with your Smart TV you even have screens of information and selections for custom-tailoring your listening experience. An excellent product, I highly recommend it.

fantastic sound....easy setup. Support almost everything I run through it. Small issue with sound from my directtv receiver as it only does dolby digital.

Price is kinda high but saved a hundred bucks off X-mas deal. Upgrading from a 1403 so I'm familiar with the product. Also had an entry Yamaha 471. Between the two the Marantz sounds better (more musical & clean). Yamaha has more oomphed. My remote was non functional and new in da box. Even tho, I had no other problems with receiver and I will give 5*. I don't have Dolby Atmos. I would have settled for the settled 1605.

I've been using this receiver for a few weeks now and have absolutely no complaints. The quality is fantastic and it's easy to use. I wasn't sure about Marantz but had to get this receiver for it to fit in our media console. Very happy with this buy now.

This is a great unit for someone with limited space. Moreover, it has more than enough HDMI inputs to make the connection of several components an easy task. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capability are a wonderful value add for this receiver.

I bought this unit for the Definitive Technology tower speakers and it generate awesome sound quality for the speakers.

I ordered this amp because it was smaller and I had size constraints. However, after ordering this 7.2 model, I realized Marantz offered a same-sized but cheaper 5.2 model (which is all I needed). So cancelled this, ordered the other.

This was a good receiver, slim is nice, but makes all the connection points really tight together. Prefer a bigger unit with more space for inputs.

I have it set up in a 30' x 32' room with seating on three sides. I have Kilpsch 8" architectural speakers for center, left front right front, left rear and right rear with two atmos speakers (middle right and left) and a 15" woofer. Few things use atmos so the middle speakers are part of a 7.1 surround system. I feel like I am in the center of the action! No noticeable distortion and very realistic sound. It was super easy to set up with on-screen guide and tutorial but be sure to read the manual.

Great receiver! Slim is the way to go, but I returned it because I needed more channels for the atmos setup I'm installing. Couldn't run a 7.1.4 setup with this receiver.

I replaced an similarly powered Sony Receiver with this one because the opening in my entertainment center was too small and the old unit would overheat! Ive been very happy with this new unit! The set up is super simple and user friendly.

Everything hooked up to new reciever, including WiiU and Apple TV. Fantastic surround sound to go with that beautiful 4K screen.

We've only had our unit a few weeks or so and it's great. We really love it. There is a lot going on with it and with our entire sound system so we are still figuring things out. It's not quite as intuitive as we'd hope, but the more we use it the more we are figuring out.

I wasn't going to spend the extra money but it was well worth it. The UI makes it really easy to set up. Love the sounds too!
