As expected, it’s a great unit. Sound is way above avg. Blu-ray and 4K through amp is very, very good! Unit controls are also very good, almost user friendly.

I listened to this receiver in the magnolia room along with a host of other higher end receivers combined with the definitive technology tower speakers. I could not tell the difference between this receiver as compared to the more expensive receivers. I was sold after I listened to Johnny Cash's rendition of Hurt which sent chills down my spine. Setup is fairly simple and mostly love the wireless capabilities of this receiver. To be honest, the Heos app is clunky but it does work and is nice to have the ability to listen to music from my multitude of devices. The AVR remote app is simple to use and is surprisingly responsive to controls and can setup macros which is also nice. I paired this receiver with definitive technology tower speakers, center speaker, along with bookshelf speakers for rears and the sound is fantastic! quite the bang for the buck!

Right out of the box, Marantz has created a beautiful compact receiver that is not only aesthetically beautiful but functional. It had more than enough hdmi ports for all your needs... and wait for it... Dolby Atmos. Connect this to your home theatre speakers and boom! Awesomely astounding sound. This is enough for a small room, 12 x 15, don’t know if you will ever crank it up to more than 50 Watts... who knows. I’m happy listening and experiencing movies as they should..

This receiver is replacing my Pioneer Elite, and I have to say it is superior product. Setup was so simple my 60 year old father could of done it. Sound quality is perfect and balanced. My only gripe is I should of bought the one with more wattage because my speakers are fairly large, but that’s my fault. If you have a 7.2 speaker system with medium or small speakers this is for you.

It's a great receiver for a size and price. Sound quality is a same as sr6012. Not as powerful as his big brothers like sr6... or sr7..., but you can't expect a same power for this size. It has dedicated amps for each channel, so 50w per channel is always 50w regardless of using 2 or 7 channels set up.

This receiver has a ton of features and produces great sound when paired with the Polk speakers i purchased to go with the receiver. My only complaint is the documentation could be a little more detailed on some of the connectivity options (turntable....). Marantz support is very helpful if you need assistance setting up or diagnosing issues.

There are few amps that can compare with this one. It took a bit of a learning curve to learn the features and benefits. It does have several annoying traits that will likely be fixed in later firmware updates. If you've been streaming from your phone and later watch TV if you decide to check something on your phone it will automatically switch to bluetooth mode. The amp's power supply does make some noise from the electrical power system but you quickly learn to tune it out.
I am using this in 5.1 mode and found out that YouTube doesn't support 5.1 or 7.1. The maximum they will play is 3.1. I had to use a Blu-Ray and that was what I was looking for. At 50W per channel it doesn't embarrass itself and you do need to be conscious as to which mode you want to be in because at times you can't hear the dialog for the music in the movies. Once you learn which modes to use you will find it is what you've been looking for.

I also own an older NR1603. This is a fantastic receiver for SMALL rooms or extremely efficient smaller speakers (klipsch). This was a replacement to the outdated older NR1603 because it didn’t support 4K/HDR/Dolby Vision passthru. If you have larger speakers I’d recommmend the SR5012. This doesn’t have enough oomph to drive larger woofers/speakers at 50 watts per channel. However....smaller rooms smaller speakers....yes and yes...perfect....couldn’t be happier!

I did some reading up on a few items, and I own more then one of them. The 3 sets of speakers I ordered are outstanding , the receiver is nice , I've owned better but the price range was where I needed it it be. And last but not least was the service I received,,,,,,, excellent and well trained in that department .

I've always had Sony receivers but this time I wanted to try higher end since the ES line is no longer. This was very easy to set up using the on screen setup menus and the microphone for speaker placement and tuning. The Dolby atmos is amazing! Works well with my Samsung ks8000 and Xbox one s.

Good Compact Receiver - CEC Doesn't Work

This Marantz compact receiver does a good job and the initial Audyssey speaker level setup worked great. The WiFi online firmware update went flawlessly - a great relief because two previous Denon AVRS910W receivers blew up at this point. (Did you know that you will brick a Denon receiver if you try to update it via WiFi? You have to use a wired Ethernet connection - it's true!) Then I was going to purchase a Yamaha receiver until I read all the reports about overheating and melting down inside home theater consoles, so I picked this Marantz which was on sale. My only disappointment is that the HDMI-CES interconnect is flaky - it works properly on shutdown, but not on start up. I have to use the Denon's remote to "force" it to sync with various outboard devices (DVR, 4K Blu-Ray player, etc.) My original very humble entry-level Signature (Best Buy house brand) receiver synced flawlessly with all of the same accessories using top-end HDCP 2.2 HDMI cables. Overall this is a very nice unit with a small volume for a reasonable price.

best solution if you live in apartment. 50w per channel is more then enough for most listening situations. and marantz has dedicated amps, so 50w per channel means 50w in 2.0 and 5.1.2 speaker arrangement. doesn't take a space, decode exactly a same way as his bigger brothers. close to impossible to hear the difference between this one and sr7012.
