Bought this to swap with my SR7011 Marantz since my wife said that was too big for our entertainment center. This receiver works powers my SVS Primes with no issue and the sound stage is just as good as the larger receiver. It has all the same primary features and fits wonderfully into the entertainment center.

I bought this unit as a replacement of my Yamaha RX A750, which, itself is a pretty good device, especially after its last firmware update. Still, the A750 didn't pass through Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos or DTS-X and the Marantz NR1710 did. The set-up was the best I have ever seen. It really walks you through the process with superb graphucs and explanations. Since I didn't want to give up my 7.1 speaker configuration, the option to set the NR1710 to virtual Atmos and virtual DTS-X was a clincher. And how good is the "virtual" option? I love it. It adds enormously to the overall sound space and allows me to run all 7 speakers. The sound is fantastic with 6 speaker test zones easily demonstrated by clear, friendly graphics. I have never heard such clear sound dispersment as I have with the NR1710. The only issue I have is in the hiding of graphics for Pandora, Alexa etc. services. I'm still searching for this feature and icons. I mean this stuff is a no-brainer. The icons should be visibly present. They are not. Also the HELOS offerings are a real pain. It's not helpful when I get stations that I am not interested in ever listening to. All these helpful suggestions should go, allowing the user to select either their own music format or pay service, like Pandora. OK, enough of that. This receiver is one of the best sound systems I have owned, going back 50 years to my twenties. The remote is easy to use and the "Options" feature opens up a great interface, with easy drop-down selections which are a pleasure to use. Lastly, the slim design fits nicely in my cabinet, which most of the large frame receivers don't do. So, there you have it. Since I use this receiver stricly for home theater, all the other features, blah, blah, blah, mean nothing to me.

I purchased this AVR for a bedroom HT setup for when I want to move my to my Bedroom from the Great Room and still have a great musical and or TV experience prior to retiring for the night. I also have an Arcam AVR 850 which was 5 times as much and nothing but problems. I have to say this little AVR does as good of a job sonicaly as the Arcam AVR 850. I am going to sell the AVR 850 and purchase another one of these for my great room but utilize separate amplifiers being this is a bit underpowered for large rooms. I just don't see any reason to spend $$$$ of dollars to get great HT and music performance out of an electronic devices.

Great receiver. It has taken a bit to get use to as we have had Yamaha in the past. We ended up setting up the speaker system manually as it didn't want to recognize our back speakers. I do however love the slim design and having use of airplay.

I chose the Marantz 7.2 Channel 4K HD AV Receiver Model NR1710 to be the new receiver for my Home Theater System and as usual I researched and shopped receivers that would compliment my other Home Theater System components. This unit is rated at 50 watts per channel at 8 ohms and has all the newest features allowing it to communicate with my Home Theater System components via HDMI connectivity. It also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities to connect your smartphone and other sources wireless. The unit has a low profile stance at 4.25" high giving it a sleek look from the front of the chassis but is a well built solid unit weighing at around 19 pounds. The receiver has been passing-through all my HD 4K content from their sources beautifully. It's a very feature rich unit with a included remote controlling all of the usual optional features including the pleasant onscreen display menu. If you're looking for a new 7.2 Channel 4K HD Receiver for a medium to large size room and optional zone coverage with the newest features to control the pass-through signals from your sources to your television and speakers I would highly recommend this unit and with a three year warranty backing it up from the manufacturer the value of the unit is fairly priced. The NR1710 has been a great addition and companion for my other 4K HD capable Home Theater System components and to enjoy many of the benefits this receiver has to offer make sure your component sources such as a 4K HD Blu-Ray Player, Cable Box, etc. are capable of passing-through the encoded Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, Dolby Digital/HD, DTS-X etc. signals from your favorite Cable TV shows or all HD Blu-Ray Disk movies to this receiver to appreciate and enjoy the newest streaming features that can be passed-through to your television and attached surround sound speakers. The Marantz NR1710 Receiver is capable of passing-through the audio and video signals from 4K HD sources by using the required 4K HD HDMI High Speed with Ethernet Cables rated at 18 Gbps for two way communication. I recommend connecting all the audio and visual component sources of your Home Theater System with the shortest HDMI cables possible for your setup configuration just to secure the strongest and purest signals delivered throughout all the components.

This Marantz unit is a work of art to my ears. Had an older Onkyo 7.1 unit that I loved but it was only good for 1080p. I didn't know what I was missing until I purchased the Marantz unit. At 50 watts, it really rocks my Paradigm Cinema 110 speakers. Very clean and natural sound. Not tinny like the Onkyo. Can't say enough about how much I enjoy this unit. Oh, last comment, 4K from my Roku and Sony UHD Blue-ray through this unit is spot on. Go get it! You will not be disappointed.

I was told by my friendly blue shirt that I shouldn't try to compare the receivers I had to this one. It just wasn't fair. I laughed. He was serious and right. An absolutely amazing product that produces depth and a soundstage that helped me understand all the things I had been doing wrong. That is what a great product does, it helps you understand what you have been missing and appreciate everything you now have. The options this receiver provides, from Atmos to preouts, is just top notch and has me dreaming of what I can do next to take my gear to that next level. I have bought Yamaha products for thirty years. It was a connection to my time served in South Korea. I really stressed out thinking about switching up because of that brand being by my side throughout my tour. Thankfully this receiver, with all the bells and whistles you could ask for, possibly stepped up to be my brand of choice for the next 30 years. Pros: Size, Sound quality, performance Cons: Annoying pop on power on, App is slow and kind of a mess (just use Heos which is great), banana clip connection is rather loose causing them to slide out from cat and kid paws near the wires.

We purchased this receiver to replace/upgrade our 10+ year old receiver. From the knowledgeable sales person in the store to the Geek Squad (free by the way) set-up to the day to day use, the experience has been great. Very easy to use and switch between functions. We would purchase this again.

This is a very capable little box. For those interested in no more than 50W per channel - this is probably the best bet in a smaller for factor. lots of inputs and some legacy component inputs. Setup was a breeze with the supplied microphone used to automatically configure to whatever room setup you have. A few items that reduced the rating for me: The Main and Zone 2 Pre-Out has an incredibly low nonadjustable line level out - so much so I almost thought the receiver was faulty. There is no option to increase this output and I have had to purchase a line level booster for connection to a whole home audio system (Niles MRC-6430) somewhat defeating the purpose of the small form factor (as a side note, the Niles can fully control this receiver via the network and use it as a source which has allowed me to ditch a separate tuner and amplifier to save space) The OSD (On Screen Display) is a very poor resolution considering the capabilities. Perhaps a little fussy but for those with a 4K TV it's a little disappointing. No Rack ears - not a common find in most retail equipment I know, I would love see them listed alongside the product if available or from a 3rd party.

Part of the order was for headphones to be used with the receiver. Problem is that the receiver does not work with the headphones (analog v digital) so we are waiting for this to be resolved. Otherwise, the receiver is great. We are hoping to fix the problem by getting a newer model of the receiver.

Nice little receiver. Works great with no issues. Has all the bells and whistles in a small chassis. Only down 1 star because the phono input has no low end to speak of when hooked to my marantz TT15. Added a vincent 701 and its all back. This phono stage is no doubt an after thought.

Probably the best receiver you can get for 5.1/2 7.1/2 setup. There's not much to say about it. It's a receiver, and it's got everything. WiFi. Arc. 8 HDMI ports plus analog ports. This is the one to get, and it's compact.
