This has an insane amount of customization and features. Marantz continues to be a top tier brand. Expensive, but if you have a nice setup, it’s worth it.

Do not buy. Second time buying a Marantz receiver, which ended up having a hdmi board problem. Works great when it did work. And by the time the manufacturer warranty expires, product just dies on you and doesn’t work. Better to invest in another brand instead of wasting your hard earned money.

We are truly sorry to hear about the negative experience with one of our products. Marantz does have a wonderful QC department and hope to gain your trust in the near future. marantz

My observation: this seems to have been designed for people with a lot of electronic gear. I need only a good, all-round receiver. I listen to the radio and cannot because this has only a scanner - no accommodation for step-by-step selection. Very limited sound choices; i.e. concert hall, club room, even real 5 channel surround. A manual might have helped.

    Quality SFF Receiver

I own the NR1609, the previous iteration of this receiver. The specs are mostly the same. Marantz is a quality company, and I am pleased with the quality of the build, the relative ease of use, and a/v fidelity is good. However, I find the Marantz to be underpowered and underwhelming. The Audyssey calibration system is okay. I find it lacking in versatility. It is relatively lacking compared to my final choice, Pioneer. The NR series is a decent receiver, but average and underwhelming in the end. It is sharp looking and functions well. I would recommend this for basic use and smaller speakers.
