Customers enjoy the Marantz SR6014's exceptional sound quality and ample power, finding it easy to set up and use. Many appreciate its Dolby Atmos capabilities, although some users find the display size insufficient and the unit runs warm during operation. The receiver's multi-channel capabilities are also frequently praised.

For the price I wasn't impressed the unit runs warm even when listening at low levels.

I expected much better quality from Marantz. Using the AV receiver for my TV and sound system the sound frequently fails to come on when changing TV channels. I have attached many suggestions to fix this issue and none of them have been satisfactory. I do NOT recommend this receiver.

Just got this a week ago. It is replacing my 12 year old Pioneer VSX-94TXH. I considered the alternatives from their sister company, Denon, but it was a year older design so lacked a couple features, and I wanted Marantz's HDAM circuit boards and some other spec highlights. I am very impressed. It has up to 9.2 channels (I only need 5.1 for now), all kinds of connection options, supports all the latest standards (including IMAX), has a decent remote (although no backlight), dual band wifi and Bluetooth (and air play for you Apple users), and supports HEOS remote speakers (but not Sonos). It supports ATMOS for speakers in the ceiling, which I don't have yet, but it also has a "virtualization" feature to simulate those speakers....subtle, but it is there. It provides a very easy to follow set up process, including using Audyssey MultEQ XT32.
Most importantly, the sound is phenomenal for both video and music sources.....wow, what a step up from my old unit!
The reason I took one star away is the display...or the almost total lack there of. The "porthole" design on this model is next to useless. OK, if you are watching your TV, all the needed Marantz controls pop up on the TV to show you what the current setup is, and what changes could be made....all very useful and well done. However, if you are just listening to audio, well, good luck....text on the porthole is VERY hard to see. I get close enough to use it, or flip on the TV to make changes. Marantz does give you a free app so you can control this all from your phone, but I guess I'm just old school and would rather not need another device. The next model up gives you a usable display under the front flap, but it is still last year's model. The Denon alternatives, all of which have a useful display, are also last year's models.
I will also note that if you are less picky, the Denon's are a good alternative, with many of the same features, quality construction (although different internally), AND a full display. In my tests, their sound was a little sharper, but still excellent. You might take a look and give it a comparative listen.
But I prefer the Marantz, and I'm happy with it and will cope with the poor display.
