As a longtime fan of the series who has been waiting for a new installment for many years, it pains me to have to give this game anything other than a glowing review. Unfortunately, there is barely any content, and the content that is present is lackluster. As expected, there is no story mode, but this is a party game so that's understandable. The only options are quick match, cup battles, online play, and a team-based online mode. While the original game on GameCube has 4 difficulty settings, this game only has 2: braindead and ridiculous. The normal AI doesn't even try, so every game ends in a 10-0 victory at minimum. The galactic difficulty is so blatantly unfair that it isn't even worth playing. The AI reads inputs, and if you're winning then the game conveniently gives your opponents a few quick lazy goals to keep them in the game and ultimately give them an undeserved win. Victories feel like you're winning in spite of the game rather than because you actually earned the win. This is the only content in the game with any sort of progression (beating cups to earn trophies and coins to buy gear), and it isn't fun in the slightest. As a result, I can't recommend the game to any solo player for its current price tag of $60.
With all that being said, playing the game with friends is pretty fun, and the gameplay mechanics are very faithful to past installments which is a huge plus. I do still recommend the game, but ONLY if you're going to play local or online co-op with friends. Other than that, stay away.

I have a hard time choosing games on the switch I like, I’m way too picky but I enjoy this game a lot! It’s fun playing with my family and girlfriend and always adds excitement to game nights! If you enjoy soccer or just sports games in general I feel like this is an awesome game to add to the collection!

Somewhere between a 3.5 and 4 out of 5. The gameplay is quick and the graphics are great, but the learning curve seems steep (even for seasoned players) and online play is difficult due to lag, poor match-ups, and imbalance due to gear. Once you get the hang of it, it is much better, but the initial learning period can be very frustrating for less experienced or younger players.

First off I want to say the gameplay, visuals, and animations are phenomenal. However I want to state that the way this game was handled was not great. It's light on content with 10 characters. However there will be more characters added on a later date through updates but these aspects were more than likely already in the game to begin with and taken out.

After 15 years of waiting for a new Mario Strikers game, Nintendo and Next Level games released a new installment in the series for Nintendo Switch, Mario and the gang return for another round of Soccer with no rules, and items. This team, the player can customize their teams with each character from the selected roster as well as gearing up new armor to power up the characters’ speed, shooting, passing, technique and strength. Like the first two Strikers games, you control your character to kick, pass and knock your opponents to the electric fence and win as many goals as you can by scoring one point or two by obtaining a striker ball to do a charge kick. Whether to battle against friends locally online or against cpu in the tournament to earn the 5 cups and coins to purchase new gear.
But like Mario Golf Super Rush and Mario Tennis Aces, Battle League is missing a few features. The roster is weak compared to Charged, less items, and not that much unlockables. Aside from those negatives, Battle League’s animation is beautiful and the controls are good,
While the lack of features are missing, Mario Strikers Battle League will be kicking around when Nintendo adds DLC sometime soon.

If you're a fan of the series, then you need this game. Great to play with a group of friends, particularly if you are in the same room together, but online play also works well. The free DLC is nice, but game is still a little low on content. Can't argue with the fun factor of the game though.

Fun game, very challenging. Kinda tough for my kids to play, so that means I have to play a few matches. I'm having fun with it. Great game to add to our Switch collection when the game is on sale.

Its fun. There are times where there is so much happening that I can't see where I'm at. This game is best played with friends and family. I can't help but feel like there is something missing with this game. Not much content, I guess.

Cool game for the kids, its competitive and fun, however if you are a hard core gamer and don't like casual games, this game is not for you, The game is quite challenging and its better if you play with more people...

A great return for the Strikers series. The action is fast paced, and veteran experiences will pick up where they left off. New players will have a bit of a learning curve, but it’s intuitive.

I'm not a Nintendo switch player myself but bought this for my husband and he immediately started playing. Great graphics and fun for kids and adults in my opinion

I got this game bc I played a similar game on the wii. It's not the same. i think the wii version is better, but i still like this game. There is not enough content at first, but it is fun to play with friends
