    I loved Mario Tennis for Nintendo 64 and was excited to play this new version online with friends, only to find out there is no official way to choose who to play with from your friends list. The game just matches you with a random opponent. Luckily, there is a sort of work-around that worked most of the times I tried. Just make sure you and your friend choose the same game type and then search for opponents. If it doesn't match you with your friend, just try again. This is unfortunate that we even need this workaround in the first place, but at least I was able to play online with my friend. I have no complaints with the gameplay itself. It feels very familiar to the old Mario Tennis and is just as fun as I remember.

    At it's core Mario Tennis Ultra Smash is light on game modes and different courts. Once you unlock all the challenges there is no need to play the game offline anymore unless you have a local player to play with. The online play is really the key element. You can play along in singles or team up with your amiibo in doubles.
